A sanctified soul is a living soul; and that life is peace.

Believers may be chastened of the Lord, but will not be condemned with the world. By their union with Christ through faith, they are  secured. What is the principle of their walk; the flesh or the Spirit, the old or the new nature, corruption or grace? For which of these do we make provision, by which are we governed? The unrenewed will is unable to keep any commandment fully. And the law, besides outward duties, requires inward obedience. God showed abhorrence of sin by the sufferings of…

Lean On God's People

This time of year, couples and groups seem to be everywhere. Choirs caroling of Christmas cheer. Couples kissing beneath the mistletoe. Groups serving their community together.

But when we’ve hit our bottom, when the world is spinning out of control, and the holidays are harder than ever, we often times seek to be alone. We’d rather hole up with our pain than have to face a crowd of merry faces.

But that’s never what God intended.

If you’re feeling low this year,…

Marriage 3rd Century

Tertullian a third century Christian and Christian apologetic wrote the following about marriage in his day.

Beautiful the marriage of Christians, two who are one in hope, One in desire, one in the way of life they follow, one in the religion they practice.

Which Baptism

There are 4 Baptisms for Believers

Baptism with water.  (Here the Minister is the agent administering it and the water is the element)

Baptism with the Holy Ghost.  (Here Christ is the agent administering it, and the Holy Ghost becomes the element.)

Baptism into Christ. …

Are you walking in the Darkness?

Now it was not a natural phenomenon. It was supernatural. It was not an eclipse. It was not a sand storm. It was a miracle! This is what the Scripture says in Matthew 27:45-46, "Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour. And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, 'Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?' That is to say, 'My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken…

UBUNTU

An Anthropologist proposed a game to the African tribal children.

He placed a basket of sweets and candies near a tree.

And made them stand 100 metres away.

And announced that who ever reaches first would get all the sweets in the basket.

When he said ready steady go...

Do you know what these small children did?

They all held each other's hands and ran towards the tree together, divided the sweets among them and ate the sweets… Continue

Can Catholicism ever be reconciled with protestantism?

I am attracted to the Catholic Church.  The Eucharist, the charity, the orderliness of the service, the very deep spiritual experiences.  But protestant theology also has some things to offer.  The ease of being saved.  The fellosship after each service.  The notion (or doctrine) that once we are saved, nothing can destroy that salvation.  Hence my question.

This Thanksgiving be thankful

This was in a devotion I read recently. I set it as a calendar reminder daily at 7 am. Something no doubt we could all use reminding of on a daily basis. Since we will likely see many things each day that we won't feel very thankful for, we should start each day with it.

Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart. (NLT) -Colossians 4:2

When you focus on the things you don't have you begin to undervalue the blessings God has given you. Then… Continue

The Blessing of Thorns

Sandra felt as low as the heels of her shoes as she pushed against a November gust and the florist shop door.

Her life had been easy, like a spring breeze. Then in the fourth month of her second pregnancy, a minor automobile accident stole that from her.

During this Thanksgiving week she would have delivered a son. She grieved over her loss. As if that weren't enough, her husband's company threatened a transfer. Then her sister, whose holiday visit she coveted, called… Continue

Destiny and Destination

Father Abraham showed us so well the difference between these two. Canaan was his destination but his destiny was to be a blessing to all nations. By putting his destiny, his purpose before him in his promised destination, Canaan,  he lived as a stranger. Why? He knew, believed God is Great, He could not have called him just for Canaan. In our destiny we impact, in our destinations we compete. Our God given destinies are greater than ourselves and it is in living them that we are fulfilled.…

THE KEY (what God really wants from us)

Do you want to know what gets God excited; what makes Him sing and dance more than anything else? It has to do with something you hold in your hand.

I had a dream:

I was riding this small bike in front of a hotel when I discovered two of my friends in the lobby. They had just checked into their room. In desperation, I ran inside, greeted them, and asked if I…
