My story with God
I was baptized Catholic and had gone to a Catholic School. Even as a child I knew inside of me that something was evil and misleading in that religion! So.... I ran as far away as I could from that religion which included God. When I began my family, I knew they needed to learn about God so I sent them to Sunday School. I began looking for a church that wasn't filled with doctrine and man-made rules! I had become basically a "Pew" warmer and "Sunday Only" Christian! Sad, huh? Then my 17 year old son went to spend the night with a friend and at the grandfather's house where he was murdered and buried in a shallow grave (all during the Christmas Season)! Some 31 days later, his precious body was found on that grandfather's property! You would've thought that this would have me turn to God....... but it didn't! I hated anything that had a man's genitalia! During the time my son had been missing and before his body was found..... my husband was and had been cheating on me! Instead of turning to God, I divorced my husband and left my 3 younger children with him (he made a better father than husband and he would allow our children to be kids where I would've been too frightened to let them live "normal" lives) and literally went and lived in the "fleshy and immoral" world. I was about 40 years old then. Too many memories of my son and once happy family led me to leave the area and state I had lived in, so I moved to Las Vegas, NV where my eldest daughter lived. She moved back to CA and I remained in Vegas where I worked as a waitress. A customer and I had become very good friends and she had a Ministry of helping the Elderly, Homeless and Abused Women. After many years of her asking me to come to one of her functions for the Homeless, I decided to go....basically to get her off my back... so-to-speak. Well, that evening (unbeknownst to me) I found and accepted Jesus Christ as my one and only Savior! I was 58 years old and that was the best decision I have ever made! I'm not where I want to be yet.......but I'm far from where I use to be!
Other stuff about me:
A year after being in Vegas, my children came back to me! One was old enough to be on her own, one decided he wanted to live with me and the last opted to stay with her dad! My relationship with them couldn't be any better; in fact, we are the best of friends! After accepting Jesus, I was able to bring ALL my children to the Lord after I was Baptized! We are ALL at various stages within our walk with Him! By the way, shortly after I was baptized I took a "bunny trail" away from God for a year where although I still believed in Him I began living in the flesh again. He waited patiently for me during that time and then "CONVICTED" me of what I was doing! Today I can not be any more grateful for my life (past and present) and for His Perfect Timing, Unconditional Love and Forgiveness! Thank you Jesus!
