Hey all. First of all. Merry Joyous blessed Christmas to you.
LT said I could try creating a place for general chit-chat and fellowship....as an alternative to 'yet uncategorized'. One thing that has been on my mind lately are 2 barely noticable verses in John 1: 12 "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God." This is way too deep for me. Is this 'who we are' the moment we believe?

I am having a wonderful relaxing time puppy/house sitting for my friends this Christmas week. This is absolutely one of my favorite places. Thier house is up high on the bluff over-looking the town of Hood River, Oregon, and the Beautiful Columbia River Gorge. It is a magnificent sunny day. God sure is good.

I apologize if I have strayed from the intended reason for starting this group, a lighthearted coffeehouse. But I could noot think of a 'starting post'....and these verses in John were on my mind at the time. (:
It will not be 'off topic' or 'hijacked' if anyone wants to just wants to chit-chat or take off in another direction.
What's on everyone's mind? Linda, I am sorry for your loss. This has also been on my mind lately. I am so thankfull your husband was a believer, I need to pray more for my family and friends to also believe.

Amanda I agree with you in the fact that God will never leave me. Even when I have not held onto Him He has always held on to me. He has seen me through dealing with a spouse dying from cancer, even though I had turned from Him, He heard my prayers and turned that situation to be one of the most blessed events I have ever experienced. He heard my prayers and allowed me the peace of seeing my late husband repent just days before he passed. God is still using my late husband's death to build bridges between myself and my step children. I pray that everyone of my brothers and sisters in Christ have such a blessed passing as my late husband. He died at home with over fifteen people in the room when he took his last breath. You could feel the angels come for him and the joy was over whelming My last words to him, "Go to your Father." Merry Christmas Everyone and Happy First Day of Winter.

Amanda, I really like your post where you say we are 'justified', and quote LT saying ''done deal''. The whole post is right on.
This is a huge responsibility eh...to really start doing, being what He has given us to be. Wow.

One of the things I find fascinating about these 2 verses, is John starts out ' "In the beginning was the Word...then starts talking about John B....then he takes a short little detour....and drops this 'bomb'....then goes right back to talking about John....It could almost go unnoticed. But this is 'HUGE'.
"Those who believe in His Name"...thats us.....but then he goes on to say, we "were not born of blood".....we are "not born of the flesh or will of man( our parents)" "but, of God".
It has been a few years since I came to the Lord, and believed in His Name, was 'called' by His Name. But when I first believed....I certainly did not know the fullness of what I was doing, and I guess I am just barely grasping now at the incredible thing that God has done for us. However, this scripture amongst other revelations puts everything into a completely different perspective. It seems to imply.....I am no longer what I was, and I am not 'bound' by what I 'was' . This 'implies' that I/we have been given full authority.....to act as, Children of God.....Born of God, not of this body although I seem to be in it. (please pardon my rambling, I am just trying to understand all this as I type.)

Yeas Mischelle, it is one thing to finally grasp the idea that God sees us now being forgiven and as if we have never sinned. What I had a hard time with is forgiving myself for willfully sinning against him. I still struggle with some things I have done in my past...some things I did before I came to repentance can not be un done. I know God has foregiven me, now I have to foregive myself.

(Romans 8:1) KJV There is therfore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after flesh, but after the Spirit.
Walk not in the flesh....but after the Spirit. If you walk in the flesh..(sinnning - willfully dis-obeying God) you are not after the Spirit. so therefore you can be condemed.

One who has been declared justified by God through the work of Jesus is no longer viewed as evil, but as a child of the King , a child of God. Sin is still sin and there are ramifications for sin after being born-again, but condemnation is not one of them (Romans 8:1). Eternal security is very biblical.
