All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

Ok i hope i word this properly.  I have a question to the group members.  I noticed that in the books in the Bible that authors like Paul and Peter say "in these last days" or "the Lord cometh soon".  I was wondering why they refer to those days as the "last days" and some today refer to these as the last days.  Is this because God's time is not our time?  That's only thing i could think of...................any insight on this?

For Heb1:2 In these last days he has spoken to us through his Son. God made his Son responsible for everything. His Son is the one through whom God made the universe.

In Clarke's Commentary, "Last days - The Gospel dispensation, called the last days and the last time, because not to be followed by any other dispensation; or the conclusion of the Jewish Church and state now at their termination."

Gill's  "the last days", is mentioned, the days of the Messiah are designed: and they are to be understood not of the last days of the natural world, but of, the Jewish world and state;

These are but, two of many men who studied the Word.  I could offer no objection to this understanding.                 On another level though.  I think especially in the beginning, people thought He would return soon.  In John 21 we see how a rumor got started because Peter wanted to know about how John was going to die.  Now Jesus taught the disciples a great many things.  We can see a glimpse into this just by parables.  He taught the people by telling them parables then, explained to His disciples there meaning.   So to me, I understand what these scholars meant. But, more simple for me is what I shared.  So I will look forward to see what others have to share on this.

Hi Marty,

I agree with you that God's time is really not like ours.

For me, we can say that today is the Last Days and the apostles can say the same thing

during those days in the Bible. I think the main point is that our Lord will come on the day we

never expect and Jesus wants us to be prepared in all the days our of our lives.

Love,
Ella

Great Insights! I love it all.  hhmm..

I just got one sentence to share:

If Paul and Peter used the word Last days, then in our time, shall we use the word LAST HOUR? LAST MINUTE? LAST SECONDS? :) for a change.. LOL

But seriously guys: "PLAN AS IF CHRIST WILL COME A THOUSAND YEARS, BUT LIVE LIFE AS IF CHRIST WILL COME IN JUST A MOMENT"

God bless you guys. :)

Love you all in Christ :)
