How do I share what I know, believe, and have experienced in the Spirit, without offending others or being judged as boastful?

Chris,

Just put it out there and do your best. I don't think anyone thinks you are boasting. Some will accept what you say and others won't. You only have to answer to one person. I know He will help you say what is on your heart. It is like LT says, "Satan wants to destroy and we cannot allow that to happen." I will support you even if I don't quite agree. I think we are all pretty much in agreement. We all believe that He will baptize us with His Spirit. People will always let us down but He will never let us down. If you want I will respond with what I think but I can tell you that I certainly do not have His Spirit figured out. Please feel free to express yourself and we will all listen.

Blessings, brother. We are one in Christ.

Amen

Words on screen are much harder to get across than face to face.  Body language is missing.

Yes indeed.

I agree with Roy  most definately.  We put it out there in love and truth that is all any of us can do.  I know for myself if I find myself offended by someones comments or experience more times than enough it is because I need an adjustment. And Praise The Lord I get it. As we shre we see that not all experiences ar the same. Also some of us may have had an experience we question only to here someone else has had a similar experience. Very often a great boost.

With an open heart and an eagerness to hear The Spirit wether we agree and/or disagree there is always something to be learned.

Keep it going get the people sharing.

    Lord's Peace be with you.

With an open heart and an eagerness to hear The Spirit wether we agree and/or disagree there is always something to be learned.

Very true.

When they first laid hands on me, and I was Baptized in Holy Ghost, as I have shared before some of the Words spoken to me I.  Humbled me greatly.  I thought God had me confused with someone else.  For the next few or more years I could have been a far better servant.  In all that time, I was able to always hear the Spirit speak to me.  Finally I came back with both feet.  By that time I was married and had two children.  I went up to the altar to rededicate my life.  Again, more strong Words spoken over me.  I knew they were true, the Spirit had told me many times.

I think I have already shared the first time I spoke a Word in tongues in Church.  It took months for me to obey His Leading.  It became regular, then I just began to speak in English.  One day as I was mowing the Spirit told me, "Go up to this couple {He told me their names ;)} and tell them, Yes.  What you are asking for the answer is Yes."  I did not know this couple very well, nor had I heard any of their business.  By this time I had spoken many Words in tongues, and by then prophesy Words to the Church.  I had never done this before.  Just to go up and tell someone, I did not know very well, a Word.  So on Sunday when they came in, I took them aside and told them.  Right then the service started, they hugged and thanked me, and we  went to our chairs.  After Praise and Worship was over we would go around and hug and greet any new people.  She made a bee line to me, and said they both wanted to talk to me after the service.  They were a very reserved and quiet couple, so I knew what I was told to do. But, I did not know what any of it meant.  After the service when I saw them approaching me, they both had tears in their eyes.  They had recently found out about his health.  And, he had a job that paid well.  They told me the other night, (the one before I was told what to do) they wanted to know if he should quit his job and invest in something, that she would be able to do.  I was so humbled and grateful that He would allow me to do such a thing. I do not know who cried more with Joy.

This is part of the beginning of me operating in the Spirit.  For the longest time I thought everybody heard the Spirit, as I do.   I left a lot out of the first part.  In those months of resisting the Spirit there were many things that happened.  What I would like to stress the most is, we must always be humble.  If you begin to see yourself as more that a mouthpiece or a servant.  You will discover the many levels of humbling. (there are many levels)

I know for me I have seen people struggle with tongues.  I said once tongues, prophesy and just sharing a Word with another, one of the things they have in common is, we must speak or make the first sound in Faith.  I have known many wonderful Children of God, who did not speak in tongues.  I was stunned the first time I heard another say, "if you don't speak in tongues, you are hell bound."  After trying to reason with him, I had to show him the door.

Many times I have had the Spirit tell me to Pray.  I asked for whom or why?  I was told it was not my business, just Pray in the Spirit.  We also have Mark 13:11 Jesus tells us, "But when you are arrested and stand trial, don't worry in advance about what to say. Just say what God tells you at that time, for it is not you who will be speaking, but the Holy Spirit." I know this speaks of being arrested.  I have been told what I am to say before, and times when I was just told to stand and trust.

We are all here support one another , and we are all here for God, some of us may a agree or disagree, but we are
Still here for the reason to learn from one another , some things we understand , some we don't, it depends where
are spiritual journey may be taking us, but one thing is for sure , we are all here because we love God , and that
is what is important , are love for God, and others, plus forgiveness,.

Where in the Bible are we told exactly what the gift of knowledge is? Is the gift of knowledge the ability to know the Word and be able to apply it in a certain situation? Is it the ability to know something about someone that is not known through ordinary means? Would it be best to define what we each mean by the different gifts? If the gift of knowledge is the ability to know different things about others that no one else knows, how is that different from ESP or something of that sort. I heard a prophet once proclaim to the audience that he knew things about them that no one else knew. He made a statement indicating that he knew what they were thinking. How is that different from psychic powers? When we speak of things like the gift of knowledge, what specifically are we talking about. When Peter knew that Ananias held back part of the money in Acts 5, was that the gift of knowledge? How do we know that he didn't know that through ordinary means? How did Paul know the man had the faith to be healed? I saw a prophet go through a congregation and come to an area looking for a Jim. He found him in the area he thought he was in. He then told him things about himself that were pretty astounding.

On another occasion I was having a conversation with a person that was telling me about her ailment. Another person was witnessing this conversation who was also witnessed by another person. The first person called the lady out and told her about her condition. It became obvious he had overheard our conversation.

Can we describe what we mean by the gift we are speaking about? Are we talking about the ability to know people's thoughts or things in their past? How do we distinguish the real from the counterfeit?

A gift of wisdom or discernment is somewhat easier to understand than this gift of knowledge. If we are beginning to read each other's mind, are we getting into an area we should avoid?

Forgive me Roy I do not know where I said the gift of knowledge. 1Cor 2:11 No one can know a person's thoughts except that person's own spirit, and no one can know God's thoughts except God's own Spirit.  1Cor 13:8 Love never comes to an end. There is the gift of speaking what God has revealed, but it will no longer be used. There is the gift of speaking in other languages, but it will stop by itself. There is the gift of knowledge, but it will no longer be used.

I would say that prophet was false.  There are forbidden arts and they are forbidden  for a reason.  The Spirit can tell someone about another, but to use that to acts superior or against that person, would be a serious mistake.  To be given knowledge of another or something else would be for Prayer, or when I was told to tell that couple Yes, it was only confirmation they had Prayed for.  I knew none of that only told to tell them yes, to go ahead with their plans.

Roy are you asking me these things?  If so please let me know what specific statement I made.  So we can to a understanding.  I just don't know what I said that would make you think I can read minds.

Chris,

I am asking anyone to define the gift of knowledge. The question is not directed at anyone. I am really asking for someone to define it based on Scripture. Joseph had the ability to interpret dreams. Some people seem to have that ability.

Some would interpret the gift of knowledge as being able to know things about others. The person I spoke of mentioned he knew what people were thinking. Is this what we are after?

Chartastic,

You have give us two different kinds of meanings for the same gift. I do not want to offend anyone and sometimes when we put up a different understanding, we do. Today, the church is full of personal words, words of prophecy and all kinds of different kinds of supernatural workings of the Holy Spirit. Yet, there is very little teaching on this subject by the church with the exception of the Charismatics which speak of it  all the time. I think caution is advised. We are told in the last days that the Spirit would come upon us and our sons and daughters would prophecy. Yet, the spirit of prophecy is the testimony of Jesus. That is what we pray for. Let me give an example of a possible special gift of knowledge. Jesus said:

Lk 8:10 ..."The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of God has been given to you, but to others I speak in parables, so that,
"'though seeing, they may not see;
though hearing, they may not understand.'  NIV

Paul did have a gift of knowledge. He was able to reveal to us the secrets of the Kingdom. Still, today, many do not understand the secrets that Paul laid out. So many are still trying when it has all be done. This gift of knowledge of God to be able to give His message is critically important. I can tell you that not everyone really understands what Jesus has done for us. The gift to know and to be able to share that is greatly needed in the church. I have been to church after church where pastors are telling people to do what Jesus has already done. The gift of knowledge is critically needed.

Now, it may be that the gift of knowledge may be a supernatural gift to be able to tell someone about themself, but you are going to have to put more up than someone else's definition to get me to go along with that. I do see some very few instances where an apostle was given special knowledge of an individual but it is certainly nothing like what I see and hear about today.

I think some misunderstood when I said I wanted the gift of knowledge. When I say that I am not saying that I want to know things about individuals supernaturally. What I am saying is that I want greater knowledge and understanding of His Word to be able to share the wonderful story of His love with others.

The gift of knowledge is a great need in the body of Christ.
