AMEN Nancy, however and not to diminish what you have stated at all, but just to add some Dave flavor to it hahaha I will add the following:

I know I won't be perfectly perfect in this side of heaven, yet my goal is perfection (meaning Maturity). So I apply the same mentality to the love one another verses, I know I will fail sooner or later to love as God calls me, but I am sure going to abide in scripture so I can be free to love as much as possible here on earth.

Kind of like stretching myself. Stretching the heart muscles!!! Love that saying sis - I am going to use it haahaha

I have a question, that I have to ask. This may not be the right place to ask it, but oh well, here it goes anyway.

I need to know how to help this person.

I know of a person who can not follow the passage the says "to love thy neighbor as thyself". This person is sooooooo filled with love for others that he does not care about himself at all. He is a Christian, but at the same time literally hates himself. He sees himself as a failure, of no value to anyone, has no friends at all (even though he goes out his way to be friendly with everyone that he meets, and is willing to help anyone that he can whenever he can, wherever he can). He really is a nice guy, but he wants to die and go home to be with the Lord. I do not believe he is suicidal, he knows better, but he want God to take him Home.

I have searched the scriptures and I have Prayed about this and I have not found anyway to help this poor miserable person.

Any thoughts.

James this is the perfect place for your question. Thank you for asking it. A few things popped in my cabesa (head) after reading about the person you mentioned.

I like to analyze things from every conceivable angle and you have been given great comments by Sis Nancy and bro Genuine. I will venture to look at it as follows:

1. your friend has a great love for others, which can only come from the Lord but his extreme care for others and not self brings immediately to my mind that he has not established healthy boundaries. We all know those folks that have not learned to say "NO," maybe it was something we even struggle with, a person that people take advantage of because they know he has not set healthy boundaries in his life. So I would speak to him about the subject and prone around it, to see if there is any truth to such deficiency.

2. His great desire to be with the Lord can be a healthy one; I feel the same way since I do not have kids or a wife. If your friend has no kids or wife he may feel as Paul did and many other Christians who really love God. Paul had this conflict:

Philippians 1
For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain. 22 But if I live on in the flesh, this will mean fruit from my labor; yet what I shall choose I cannot tell. 23 For[c] I am hard-pressed between the two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better. 24 Nevertheless to remain in the flesh is more needful for you.

On the other hand it could simply be that he sees no value to his life. Ask key questions.

A. Do you have trouble saying "No" and hence are unhappy?
B. Why do you want to die?

Let us know how it goes James and again thanks for asking. His "issues" can spring from so many different factors that is hard to pin point with limited info.

Dear Charles -

Any man that has a great calling in His life, must first and foremost be shaped on the potter’s wheel, that wheel turns and turns as you very well know. At times we postpone our Joy, our Peace, not the plan; nothing we do catches God by surprise.

So many of us have been there Charles, and the hard thing about that place, the blow that stinks, is that we know better, is that we find ourselves in a spot we have even counseled others about and helped get out. Yet here we are stuck, per sey.

What has helped me is this:

Psalm 42
1As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.

2My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?

3My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God?

4When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday.

5Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.

9And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
