Russia Warns the West it May Side with Iran

Israel National News reports: “Russia warned the West on Wednesday that it may revise its stance in the Iranian nuclear talks in an act of retaliation over the West’s sanctions on it, The Associated Press (AP) reported.

Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said, according to the Interfax news agency, that Russia did not want to use the Iranian nuclear talks to ‘raise the stakes,’ but may have to do so in response to the actions by the United States and the European Union.

The statement is the most serious threat of retaliation by Moscow after the U.S. and the EU announced sanctions against Russia over its annexation of Ukraine's Crimea region.

On Tuesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin drafted a parliamentary bill for Crimea to be annexed as part of Russia, completing yet another step in the road for the peninsula to legally leave Ukraine.

Putin has thus far thumbed his nose at sanctions from the EU and U.S. In another move of defiance, the Russian president released his own blacklist of U.S. officials to be sanctioned hours earlier, just after he declared that he recognized Crimea as a ‘sovereign and independent state.’…”

Syria: Al Qaeda-Linked Group Shows off New British Recruits

Israel National News reports: “Western governments and intelligence agencies have long voiced their concerns that the steady stream of young Muslims leaving their countries to fight in Syria are both fueling the conflict there and pose a potential security threat should they return home someday - radicalized and well-trained in military combat.

But despite efforts to stem the tide, Islamists from across Europe, North America and elsewhere in the western world are still managing to make their way to the battlefield, and continue to urge their coreligionists to join them.

In a video released just today, an offshoot of Al Qaeda in Syria, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (better known as ISIS) released a video hailing the successful arrival of three new British recruits.

In the clip, a British-born ISIS spokesman introduces one of the recruits, who goes on to encourage other Muslims to join him - and threatening Divine punishment for those who do not. The new arrival insists that despite measures by governments to prevent them, those who ‘put their faith in Allah’ will find a way to join the jihad in Syria…”

U.S., South Korea to launch massive landing drill

SpaceDaily.com reports: “More than 10,000 US troops will participate in a large-scale landing drill in South Korea next week, the US military said Thursday, days after North Korea test-fired 25 projectiles in apparent protest at the continuing joint exercises.

The drill, code-named Ssang Yong (‘Twin Dragons’) and billed by local news media as one of the largest-ever of amphibious landing exercises by the two allies, will take place from March 27 through to April 7 on the southeast coast of South Korea.

It will involve 7,500 US Marines, 2,000 US Navy personnel, and an undisclosed number of Australian and South Korean forces, a US military spokesman told AFP.

Yonhap news agency said 3,500 Marines and 1,000 Navy sailors would take part from South Korea.

‘Ssang Yong 14 is an annual combined exercise conducted by Marine and Navy Forces with the ROK (South Korea) in order to strengthen the interoperability and working relationships of the two militaries across the range of operations - from disaster relief, to complex expeditionary operations,’ US Forces in Korea said in a press statement…”
