State TV says Russia could turn US to 'radioactive ash'

March 17, 2014

AFP reports: “A leading anchor on Russian state television on Sunday described Russia as the only country capable of turning the United States into ‘radioactive ash’, in an incendiary comment at the height of tensions over the Crimea referendum.

‘Russia is the only country in the world realistically capable of turning the United States into radioactive ash,’ anchor Dmitry Kiselyov said on his weekly news show on state-controlled Rossiya 1 television.

Kiselyov made the comment to support his argument that the United States and President Barack Obama were living in fear of Russia led by President Vladimir Putin amid the Ukraine crisis…”

Iran Plays Down Chances of Final Nuclear Deal

March 17, 2014

Israel National News reports: “Iran's foreign minister on Sunday played down the chances of achieving a final deal with the West over his country’s nuclear program, saying Iran does not expect to cement a final deal in the coming round of nuclear talks with world powers.

According to The Associated Press (AP), Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif made the comments while speaking to reporters after meeting his Belorussian visiting counterpart, Vladimir Makei.

‘We don't expect to reach a deal in this round of talks. Nor was a deal on the agenda for this round of talks. We have agreed to discuss a number of issues in this round,’ Zarif said.

He added that Tehran and world powers will discuss ‘dimensions’ of Iran's nuclear activities like uranium enrichment, a heavy water reactor as well as sanctions in the Tuesday and Wednesday talks in Vienna.

‘We will also discuss international cooperation in the field of peaceful nuclear technology,’ Zarif said, according to AP…”

Kerry Urges Abbas to 'Make Tough Decisions'

March 17, 2014

Haaretz reports: “U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry urged Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas on Sunday ‘to make the tough decisions that will be necessary’ before an April 29 deadline for a peace deal with Israel, Reuters reported, citing a U.S. official.

Kerry’s comments were made during a meeting with Abbas in Washington, a day before the PA Chairman will meet President Barack Obama at the White House.

‘The secretary thanked President Abbas for his steadfast leadership and partnership over the past few months and encouraged him to make the tough decisions that will be necessary in the weeks ahead,’ a senior State Department official told Reuters after the meeting.

‘He also reiterated that we are at a pivotal time in the negotiations and while these issues have decades of history behind them, neither party should let tough political decisions at this stage stand in the way of a lasting peace,’ the official added, describing Sunday's talks as ‘frank and productive.’

Kerry brought Israel and the PA back into negotiations on July 29 and said at the time that ‘our objective will be to achieve a final status agreement over the course of the next nine months.’…”

Israel Prepares for Possible Attack by Hijacked Malaysian Plane

March 17, 2014

Breitbart.com reports: “As the possibility--however remote--grows that Malaysia Airlines flight 370 may have been hijacked and taken to a hidden location, Israeli authorities are preparing for the possibility that the hijackers might attempt to use the Boeing 777 to mount an attack.

According to the Times of Israel, Israel's Channel 2 has revealed that Israeli air defenses have been boosted, and approaching civilian aircraft will be asked to identify themselves far earlier.

Though the flight was presumed at first to have crashed, whole or in pieces, into the ocean, passive satellite transmissions from the aircraft suggest that it made a deliberate course change and may have headed north into central Asia…

Though the possibility that the Boeing 777 could be used in a terror attack is mere speculation, it is evidently being taken seriously by Israel. A plane filled with nuclear material would not need to be in Israeli airspace long to do catastrophic damage, even if shot down…”

Air Force: Christians' Religious Speech Not Legally Protected Right

March 17, 2014

Breitbart.com reports: “Christians in the U.S. military are being told they must forfeit their First Amendment rights. Bible verses are being erased from cadets’ personal dorm-room white boards, and military lawyers claim that legal protections for religion only pertain to matters such as clothing and growing beards but do not extend to any religious expression such as talking about one's faith or posting a Bible verse.

Last year Breitbart News broke the story of a campaign by anti-Christian extremists to suppress traditional Christian expression within the U.S. military. There were conflicting stories regarding the possible court martial of service members who share the gospel of Jesus Christ and confirmed reports of military chaplains being officially censored, as well as Bibles temporarily banned from the Walter Reed military hospital…

This latest incident occurred when a cadet (whose identity we are not disclosing) posted Galatians 2:20 on his personal whiteboard, posted outside his living quarters in a residential dormitory. That verse reads, ‘I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.’

According to media reports, several people at the academy contacted Mikey Weinstein and the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, the radical anti-Christian group that had been in communication with the Defense Department under President Obama regarding adopting new policies for religious expression in the military. Weinstein claimed that he called the Air Force Academy to complain about the Bible verse and further claims that two hours and nine minutes later, the verse was gone…”
