All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

MEMORY VERSE: And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever (Exodus 14: 13).

The Children of Israel were understandably afraid. They had fled from their cruel taskmasters in Egypt at the call of Moses and now their capture and return seemed certain. Pharaoh's soldiers were in hot pursuit and they had come to a dead end. There were mountains on either side and the Red Sea lay before them.

They began to complain, blaming Moses for their plight: And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? (Exodus 14:11).

At that panic point, Moses gave this surprising instruction: Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord (14:13).

Stand still? What a difficult thing to do when collapse or tragedy seems imminent. We are more likely to run to and fro trying to find some saving solution. But it is in these trying times that our faith is tested. Writing about the difference between genuine faith and pseudo (false) faith, A. W. Tozer explained: "Pseudo faith always arranges a way out to serve in case God fails. Real faith knows only one way and gladly allows itself to be stripped of any second way or makeshift substitutes. For true faith, it is either God or total collapse. And not since Adam first stood up on earth has God failed a single man or woman who trusted Him."

Are you in a corner? Does it seem there is no way out?

Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord!
