All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

MEMORY VERSE: For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee (Isaiah 41:13).

The Scotch preacher, John McNeill, related the following experience from his youth:

He had been to town and was late in starting the tramp of six or seven miles through the lonely glen on his way home. The night was very dark and the road had a reputation for danger. "In the densest of the darkness," said McNeill, "there suddenly rang out a great, strong, cheery voice: 'Is that you, Johnny?' It was my father -- the bravest, strongest man I ever knew."

Then the famous preacher added: "Many a time since, when things have been getting very black and gloomy about me, I have heard a voice greater than any earthly father cry: 'Fear not: for I am with thee'"

A friendly voice in darkness is welcome.

But a friendly hand is more comforting.

God's promise to His fearful child is that He will take his hand.

What could be more comforting in a crisis than to have God take your right hand to lead you safely through? Like a father helping a little one down a difficult path, the Heavenly Father helps us in life's struggles by taking a trembling hand in His to lead the frightened one to safety.

Troubles may surround you to the point that you cannot even remember how you became involved in this situation. You're tired of struggling and wonder if life is worth the effort. You don't even know how to explain your problems to a counselor.

Then Isaiah's promise is for you. Just cry, "Help!"

You'll hear His answer: Fear not; I will help thee (Isaiah 41:13).
