All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

BE WARNED BY THE SCRIPTURES

“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out in the world.” 1 John 4: 1

There are many Scriptures that warn us against “another Jesus” and “a different gospel” and a “different spirit.”
“For if he that comes preaches another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if you receive another spirit which you have not received, or another gospel, which you have not accepted, you might well bear with him.” 2 Cor.11: 4
It appears that false prophets and false teachers out number the true ministers of God.
There are many “strange fires” witnessed in church history during periods of revival.
Here are a few Scriptures to note –

MANY false prophets have gone out into the world. 1 John 4: 3
Beware of false prophets..MANY will say to Me in that day, Lord, Lord.. Matt.7:15, 22
MANY will come in My Name…and deceive MANY” Matt.24: 5
We are not so as so MANY whom I have told you often… they are enemies of the cross of Christ. Phil.3: 18
There are MANY unruly talkers and deceivers…. Titus 1: 10
It is the last time…even now there are MANY antichrists. 1 John 2: 18
Note the word “many” used in these references.

Note Paul’s language when referring to these people –
False prophets, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ - 2 Cor.11: 13-15 “For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel, for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.”
Trouble makers - Gal.1: 6-8 “I marvel that you are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel; which is not another; but there are some that trouble you and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we or an angel from heaven, preach another gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.”
False brethren – Gal. 2: 4 “And because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus that they might bring us into bondage:”
Witches - Gal. 3: 1 “O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that you should not obey the truth before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?”
Enemies of the cross - Phil. 3: 18, 19 “For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ;
Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is their shame, who mind earthly things.”
Dogs, evil workers - Phil 3: 2 “Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of concision.”
Deceivers, cheats – Col.2: 4, 8 “And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words. V8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world and not after Christ.”
Frauds – Col.2: 18 “Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind.”
Liars – 1 Tim. 4: 1-3 “Now the Spirit speaketh expresssly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron. Forbidding to marry and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.”
Proud men – 1 Tim. 6: 4 “ If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; he is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strife of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings”
Corrupt men – 1 Tim.6: 5 “Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitue of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness, from which with draw thyself.”
Vain babblers – 2 Tim. 2: 16 “But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.”
Cankerous words – 2 Tim.2; 17 “And their word will eat as doth a canker …”
Captives of the devil - 2 Tim.2; 26 “And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil who are taken captive by him at his will.”
Seducers and evil men – 2 Tim. 3: 13 “But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.”
Vain talkers – Titus 1: 10 “There are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, especially they of the circumcision”
Subverters – Titus 1: 11 “Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre’s sake.”
Heretics – Titus 3: 10 “A man that is an heretic after the first and second admonition reject.”

1 Timothy 3: 1 - 9 “This know also that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, truce breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, high minded, lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into homes, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth; men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the truth. But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as their’s also was.”

Beloved, be not deceived but let the Word of God dwell in you richly in all wisdom for he that endures unto the end shall be saved.

Margaret, This is all so true that many false teachers continue to cause problems for the true saints of God. I would love to hear your suggestions as to how we as fully devoted followers of Christ are to deal with these false teachers.
Thank you Bob for your comments and there is no specific way to deal with false teachers, etc.
Jesus said that the tares were sown by the evil one and He said leave them alone for there is a day appointed when they will be cast into the fire. In Mathew 15: 13 the Lord said every plant not planted by His Father will be rooted up.
I pray in the Name of Jesus Christ such ministries to be rooted up and I plead the blood of Jesus Christ over these ministries so that precious souls will not be deceived.
When we know that all these evil spirits are operating (within churches) among believers, we, as His obedient children have the authority to bind and cast them out in the mighty Name of Jesus Christ and teach the truth as found in God’s Word.
However, the Word of God also tells us to "take heed" and to "be aware" and we are also told "do not give place to the devil” Eph.4: 27 These topics make good studies so we could be saved from being tripped up by the enemy and then we could warn others - if they will listen!
Please also read my blog post –THOSE WHO WILL NOT BE IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD. Most of these Scriptures were written to the believers and so we realize that even in those days there were evil spirits at work. Only now, it has multiplied but it is up to us to live righteous lives and be holy even as He is Holy.
Many like to talk about “Grace” as though it is a license to sin. In fact the Grace of God is the ability to live above sin! The Word says, “Grace and Truth” came by Jesus Christ.
God never sacrificed TRUTH! Jesus said, I AM THE TRUTH! And God has never changed His mind about anything that He said!
Many will be deceived because they do not want the truth.
Read Proverbs l and Romans 1

All born-again, blood washed people are children of the kingdom and in this kingdom there is only ONE KING! All of us have a mandate TO DO HIS WILL or else at the end of life's journey Jesus Christ will call us "workers of iniquity" as He told us in Mathew 7: 20-29
This is not because we are not serving Him and doing lots for Him BUT because we did not do HIS WILL!
Will this not be a tragedy of all tragedies!
Therefore let us each one examine ourselves (for we cannot examine others) and see that we are not be deceived for we do have an appointment with Him!
What He said happened and what He promised will happen!
God IS in control no matter what
God IS at work whether we understand or note!
I trust this is helpful
God bless

This is such an important subject. A couple showed up in our community in 1986 and caused so much hurt and harm to the Body Of Christ, it has taken decades to recover from the spiritual abuse and to undo the false teaching that infiltrated the churches.

It took a joint effort of the evangelical pastors coming together and praying and doing spiritual warfare for the last 20 years that has made all the difference in the world. I run a discipleship course 2 times a year and teach all the foundational teachings to assure a good foundation of truth is established for the believer.

2 times in the last year or so false teachers have tried and failed to get a strong hold once again, and praise God there was no chance for them to have any level of success in infiltrating the Church's.

A bank teller is trained to know the true bill to the point that if a counterfeit shows up they can identify it. This is how I believe we are to deal with false teaching. Teach the truth from the Word Of God so the false will be evident.
I am a perpetual optimist when it comes to believing in the Lord's protecting, cherishing, and nourishing the Church which is His Body. He did assert that He will build His Church and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. This is a plain declaration by our Lord regarding His responsibility for the growth and development of the Church and it is backed by His power and faithfulness. I will not underestimate the bitter relentless attacks on the Church by devils and unbelieving men. But to me these attacks are all meant to humble us into dependence on the Lord and admiration of the Lord might and power to sustain us.

I know we have the tendency to get jittery when we see the "Ark" shaking and we fear it may fall. Then we reach out to keep it from falling. But the Lord always seems to smite our efforts. He wants us to know that we are not the one to uphold Him and His Church. Rather, He is the one who is able to keep us from stumbling. He is the One who upholds us. It is necessary to recognize and acknowledge this truth lest we glory in ourselves or the vain attempts of men in upholding the Church, which is His Body. The Lord has kept the Church through generations of turmoils and will uphold it to the end.

The attacks against the Church by the devil and fallen men are relentless today as they have been in the history of the Church. We who are members of the Church must not be tricked into becoming anxious and to look to ourselves for ways to protect ourselves or one naother in the Church. Let us keep focused on the Lord. Let us renew our faith in Him who is the Foundation, Builder, and Head of the Church. Let us renew our awareness that we are in Him, sheltered and protected by the armor of God. Let us commit one another to His safe-keeping and pray that everyone of us who are His will maintain a strong faith in Him. He is not asleep. He is not weary or tired. He has destroyed and triumphed over principalities and powers who are set against Him and His people and wants us His people to demonstrate our faith and confidence in Him when the storms are raging.
