All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

We allow the enemy to convince us we are doing something wrong when, things are not going all that great. We are Praying for things that we need, and want at times. And, nothing is wrong with those things we are told to ask and Pray. so I have a question for you. Why, Martyr’s ? What, purpose do they serve ? The way they lived their life, was victory ever a part of ? Because, of how they suffered, what sin’s must they of committed ? We so often hear about the victorious life, of all that we can have in Jesus. Well, does dying in such a way, show any of this. Having your family see you, or your whole family get dragged out of your home. To have all your things taken away, then to suffer years in prison, from unspeakable acts, only to die. And, their crime was giving their life over to Jesus. Tell me, is this victory ?

This life is secondary to the eternal life we have in Christ and is but a mist. We have been told clearly that we will face trials, tribulations and persecutions. We have been told that the world will hate us because they hate Jesus. We have been told that it is appointed unto man once to die and then judgment. Often the lives of those who are martyred tends to draw many to Christ because of their faith and devotion. A great read on this subject is "Foxe's Book of Martyrs."

What is victory? Victory is Jesus on the cross and then rising from the grave. Our true vicory is in Him and goes way beyond this current life.

Lord Bless,

God bless you Chris,

God sees it and remembers it. Vengence belongs to God. He repays. Having fear and respect for God is a good thing.

Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord. (Romans 12:19)

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline. (Proverbs 1:7)

Love,

Mary

Let me share why I asked.  So much of the time we lose sight of what is most important.  Living our life for Christ.  And at ll cost.  We sometimes allow the enemy to get our focus off what is True and real.  The Real Victory is living for Him, and if need be giving truly all we have, as many are this very day.  When things are not going right,(as we see them) we miss what our life in Faith is all about.  Yes, we are to Believe that He wants the best for us, but no that does not always mean what we think it means.  In the end me must work towards, the courage to stand and fulfill our destiny in Him, and learn to be at Peace, what ever that maybe.  I think one of the highest calls is Martyrdom, to face death with the knowledge, we will just be going Home, not losing all we have here.

God bless you, Chris.

Here's one for Christians to realize =

The objective of this life.... is not this life. (Ceeseley)

Grace and Peace, Bro.

And also, Chris,

A bit of history of when the early church of Jesus Christ "branched out":

Acts 8:1, " And Saul approved of his (Stephen) execution.

And there arose on that day a great persecution of the church in Jerusalem, and they were all scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles."

Notice how that verse echoes Jesus' words in Acts 1:8.

I wonder how many believers in this country today, would be ready and willing to be rousted out of their homes and personal lives to advance the Word of Christ?............And putting their lives on the line as well?

Thanks for initiating this discussion, Chris.

Grace and Peace.

Richard

Exactingly what I was taking about.  We so often we are not living by Faith right id we don't get all the

" things" we are asking for.  Yet, our Faith will truly be tested in those times, when we may lose everything even our life and those around.  My point was how many would see these things as faith, or failure.  You are a strong Brother of maine, and Lord willing if we were to stand side by side to be martyred together, I would rejoice know but in just a moment we would see one another again/

Chris,

I know of no other religion where martyrdom is present. Do you?

Blessings,

Rita

Hi Rita,

Merry Christmas!

I'm thinking, maybe moslems might be considering themselves as martyrs when they they act as suicide/murderer bombers killing their enemies............. course  they're expecting a reward of virgins (I forget how many).

Would that count????

Grace and Peace.

You know Richard

As you muslims are looking to get something our of the deal.  I know when Martyrs for Christ receive Glory, yet there reasons are not the same.  We offer our life for Jesus, not for some made up reward.  They "Martyr's" offer up their life for the Glory of the Lord.  When those who believe, by taking innocent lives will gain them glory, they are in for a big awaking.  When Christians give all they have "their life" it is a testimony

to their Faith.  The three in the fire, Dan in the loin den, all those things brought Glory to God.  Stephen saw Jesus sitting at the Right Hand of God.  All to the Glory of God,  I think that is the Coolest thing

Richard,

Do you count that as martyrdom where a person gives up his life to kill his enemies? If that were the case, every soldier would be a martyr.

Meaning per Merriam-Webster

1 : one who voluntarily suffers death as the penalty of witnessing to and refusing to renounce his religion or a tenet, principle, or practice belonging to it *modern-day missionary martyrs*

2 : one who sacrifices his life, station, or what is of great value for the sake of principle or to sustain a cause
3 a : a great or constant sufferer (as from disease) *a martyr to rheumatism* b : one who adopts a specious air of suffering or deprivation especially as a means of attracting sympathy or attention

Per M_R, I don't think suicide bombers qualify as martyrs. ( Actually, I call them crazy.)

Blessings...

Rita

Dear Rita,

I'm sorry........... didn't make myself clear.

I think those radical muslims are crazy too. They have to be "bribed" with the expectation of a group of virgins waiting for them on the other side. I was trying to be funny.

Interesting to note......it's not the high ranking officers blowing themselves up...... it's the peons. Hmmm.

Can't think of any other religions.

Grace and Peace.

And what about those girls, seems like in this they get the short end of the stick.  I understood what you were sharing.   Also grateful to Rita for, having the courage to ask when she did not  understand.

And Richard you are right about only the poor families, and or uneducated.  Not in every time, but like you say, "Interesting to note......it's not the high ranking officers blowing themselves up...... it's the peons. Hmmm."  That the Light of JESUS shows those folks the path
