All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

06/02/2010 1826 PM Wednesday

My family and I have been struggling with returning our lives to self sufficent status post Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans,La. It appears that just when we can see our way that is when the worse happens. We relocated first to Phoenix,Az while there I worked because I was the strenght of my family and other friends and love ones that survived.

Then we were relocated to Houston,Texas; I found gainful employment in my healthcare profession.

Now, we are at our lowest our car has died and we are on the eviction brink; because in Houston,Tx

to get from one job site to another we need reliable transportation. We donot qualify for any social

services assistance; I know that God will not place on his children more than we could withstand.

I must keep my wits because if I breakdown than everyone else will become unstable. But at this

time I feel so alone.

Michelle,
Thank you for your support and words of encouragement.
Dear Eugenia,

Life can sure deal us tough circumstances some times. However, In Christ, we are overcomers.

Jhn 16:33 "These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world."

We are told to abide in Jesus. In this scripture, He tells us many many times to hit the point home.

Jhn 15:1 "I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.

Jhn 15:2 "Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He [fn] prunes it so that it may bear more fruit.

Jhn 15:3 "You are already [fn] clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.

Jhn 15:4 "Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit [fn] of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me.

Jhn 15:5 "I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.

Jhn 15:6 "If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned.

Jhn 15:7 "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.

Jhn 15:8 "My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so [fn] prove to be My disciples.

Jhn 15:9 "Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; abide in My love.

Jhn 15:10 "If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love.

Jhn 15:11 "These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full.

Even though trials come to us, we will come out as overcomers because it is God who is holding us and guiding us.

2Cr 12:9 And He has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness." Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast [fn] about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.

2Cr 12:10 Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with [fn] insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ's sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong.

Continue to pray and wait on the Lord. Do not trust your 'feelings'. Remember, we are saved by 'faith' not 'feelings'.

Take your eyes off of your circumstances and put them on Jesus.. Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His Wonderful face, and the things of this earth will grow strangely dim, in the Light of His Glory and Grace.

Remember, we are here for His Glory, His purposes, His plan. His will.

Rom 8:28 And we know that [fn] God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

Rom 8:29 For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren;

Rom 8:30 and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified.

Rom 8:31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?

Rom 8:32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?

Rom 8:33 Who will bring a charge against God's elect? God is the one who justifies;

Rom 8:34 who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was [fn] raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.

Rom 8:35 Who will separate us from the love of [fn] Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

Rom 8:36 Just as it is written, "FOR YOUR SAKE WE ARE BEING PUT TO DEATH ALL DAY LONG; WE WERE CONSIDERED AS SHEEP TO BE SLAUGHTERED."

Rom 8:37 But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.

Rom 8:38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers,

Rom 8:39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Remember our Lord in His great anguish of suffering:

Luk 22:41 And He withdrew from them about a stone's throw, and He knelt down and began to pray,

Luk 22:42 saying, "Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me; yet not My will, but Yours be done."

Luk 22:43 [fn] Now an angel from heaven appeared to Him, strengthening Him.

Luk 22:44 And being in agony He was praying very fervently; and His sweat became like drops of blood, falling down upon the ground.

Luk 22:45 When He rose from prayer, He came to the disciples and found them sleeping from sorrow,

Luk 22:46 and said to them, "Why are you sleeping? Get up and pray that you may not enter into temptation."

Jesus teaches us to pray. We know that God will work things out for His good pleasure, and we know that He loves us intimitely...a Love so deep that we cannot understand it, we cannot explain or describe it adequately, but we know it to be true. By knowing this, we know that we can trust God

God's purpose for us is that in and through these circumstances we will become more and more like Jesus..and reflect His Glorious Light and Salt so that we are al living testimony for Christ, that others may know Him and/or be strengthened by knowing Him more intimately.

In His Love, Carla
Carla,
God's Word deals a lot with our suffering which sometimes never seems to end. Right now, things seem so bleak and the loneliness overtakes me. I do see my sons but they work and are busy. They can't be here for me to "babysit" me or to visit everyday.....I know that. I wouldn't want them to anyway. Praise God that I am and always have been a bit of a "loner", but I feel isolated and cut off from everything I know and love. Please keep me in your prayers.

Marilyn
Dear Marilyn,

I have felt where you are right now. I will lift you up to our Lord. Let me just encourage you to 'hold on' to the truth that Jesus will never leave you nor forsake you. He will strengthen you as you come to Him and abide in Him. You mentioned to Michael that you wanted to 'see' Jesus.

Here He is:
Rev 1:10 I was [fn] in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like the sound of a trumpet,

Rev 1:11 saying, "Write in a [fn] book what you see, and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus and to Smyrna and to Pergamum and to Thyatira and to Sardis and to Philadelphia and to Laodicea."

Rev 1:12 Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking with me. And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands;

Rev 1:13 and in the middle of the lampstands I saw one like [fn] a son of man, clothed in a robe reaching to the feet, and girded across His chest with a golden sash.

Rev 1:14 His head and His hair were white like white wool, like snow; and His eyes were like a flame of fire.

Rev 1:15 His feet were like burnished bronze, when it has been made to glow in a furnace, and His voice was like the sound of many waters.

Rev 1:16 In His right hand He held seven stars, and out of His mouth came a sharp two-edged sword; and His face was like the sun [fn] shining in its strength.

Rev 1:17 When I saw Him, I fell at His feet like a dead man. And He placed His right hand on me, saying, "Do not be afraid; I am the first and the last,

Rev 1:18 and the living One; and I [fn] was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of death and of Hades.

This is our God.. Praise Him!

And this is our God:
Jhn 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His [fn] only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
Jhn 3:17 "For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.

Do not be discouraged sis...

Discouragement comes from satan. 'Dis' words are 'demon inspired suggestion' and you don't have to listen to them. It is the wrong voice.
Prayerfully read through Eph 6:10-17. The bible (God's Word) is our food...make sure you are eating enough. :)

Rejoice in all things. Ask God to show you why you are where you are, and He will. Come to Him, He's right here waiting.

Much Love in Christ, Carla

"Never Alone"

I waited for you today
But you didn't show
No no no
I needed You today
So where did You go?
You told me to call
Said You'd be there
And though I haven't seen You
Are You still there?

[Chorus:]
I cried out with no reply
And I can't feel You by my side
So I'll hold tight to what I know
You're here and I"m never alone

And though I cannot see You
And I can't explain why
Such a deep, deep reassurance
You've placed in my life

We cannot separate
'Cause You're part of me
And though You're invisible
I'll trust the unseen

[Chorus]

We cannot separate
You're part of me
And though You're invisible
I'll trust the unseen
Thank you for sharing this song, it's very uplifting.
Eugenia, Praise the Lord,
This my first time posting anything on this site other than a brief response on the chat line. Anyway, as others have expressed as I'm sure you already knew, God will put no more on us than we can bear. However; being reminded of that does not lighted our personal load.

The LORD reminded me of that over 20 years ago when I'd lost a daughter after carrying her for 7 months. "Lord I don't understand why you would allow me to carry this child this far and then take her back". The tears flowed in my midst of confusion, but then I was reminded to "Give Thanks in ALL things". Even as I type this the tears still well up in my eyes because the hurt of loosing my daughter will never go away. But in the midst of the tears I began to say Thank you Jesus over and over again. In doing that, the Lord began to show things TO be thankful for; Not prolonging my daughters suffering, Or allowing her to live but with possible brain damage, Or my husband, myself and our son having to agonize over the uncertainty of her survival, etc, etc, etc.

My point is, sometimes the road God has us travel CAN be truly gut wrenchingly painful spiritually, physically, and emotionally, but if WE don't travel it to the end STEADY HOLDING FAST EVEN THROUGH THE TEARS how will
we be able to tell the next traveler that they can make it. Bottom line the uncertainty of knowing where God is taking us is what makes the journey truly difficult. If Job knew what was at the end of the matter, do you think he would've leaned on God or prayed? He probably would've just chilled out somewhere just waiting it out until everything blew over.

Please stay encouraged in God, and I look forward to a posting of how God has blessed you and those with you.
