All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

This scripture stands out to me and even more so since I have watched the movie "The Gospel of John" several times.  What do you think about this scripture?  Do you know why they fell to the ground when Jesus answered?  Was it because they felt His power?

John 18: 4-6

4 Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye?

5They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am he. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them.

6As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.

Michelle,  This is a powerful beautiful verse.  i believe it is a further testimony of Jesus's power as God.

Imagine being there when this happened..  amazing eh?

The designation 'I am He" is His declaration that He is God.

Blessings, Carla

Michelle,

when I see this verse I think of the song 'I can only imagine' by Mercy Me.  What will I do when I finally stand face to face with our Lord?  ...i can only imagine..  it's too fantastic to try and know.

I Can Only Imagine lyrics

I can only imagine
What it will be like
When I walk
By your side

I can only imagine
What my eyes will see
When your face
Is before me
I can only imagine

I can only imagine

[Chorus:]
Surrounded by Your glory, what will my heart feel
Will I dance for you Jesus or in awe of you be still
Will I stand in your presence or to my knees will I
fall
Will I sing hallelujah, will I be able to speak at all
I can only imagine

I can only imagine

I can only imagine
When that day comes
When I find myself
Standing in the Son

I can only imagine
When all I will do
Is forever
Forever worship You
I can only imagine

I can only imagine

Surrounded by Your glory, what will my heart feel
Will I dance for you Jesus or in awe of you be still
Will I stand in your presence or to my knees will I
fall
Will I sing hallelujah, will I be able to speak at all
I can only imagine

I can only imagine

I can only imagine

I can only imagine
When all I will do
Is forever, forever worship you

I can only imagine

I can only Imagine

Blessings and Love to you my friend and sister in Christ..

Oh..  Brianna is sooo sweet.  Bless her heart.

I have a Kari Jobe song as my ring tone.  It's the song "I'm singing"  ..  it's in Spanish which is really funny because I don't speak Spanish (or sing in spanish for that matter)...  but I was looking for a worship song to add as my ringtone, and i tried to download this song, and for some reason it downloaded in Spanish.  I don't know how to change it...  but that's okay because i know what it is, and I love it and it doesn't offend my husband when he hears it, because he doesn't know what it is, and neither does anyone else unless they understand or speak Spanish..  :-)  LOL.  I've not very technically inclined..  ;-)

Yes..  that's been on my heart.. :-)

One possibility is that in this occurence we are shown that Jesus was not going to be taken by force, but that He went willingly. Just more evidence of His love for us, that He willing laid down His life.

God is so perfect and in his perfection He does not fall into extremes, but exemplifies virtues with a perfect balance. We see Jesus fearless and ready to confront His creation with boldness, boldness He wants us to posses as well.

We see him full of love for His creation (as my bro LT mentioned) ready to run the last lap to the finish line. A love and compassion He wants us to have for a dying world.

We see him in other places telling the disciples to let the little ones come to him. :) He does not reject anyone.

He is the Lion and the Lamb - Wow!!!! Our Lord is beautiful. A strong, gentle, fearless warrior, is our God.

Michelle, I love this response.  Thanks for sharing.  Blessings, Carla
