All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

After my personal Bible reading this morning God did reveal something to me yet afterwards He led me to this scripture verse to verify what he had revealed. Although I am going to ask this Body of Christ what do you think God meant when He said this from Genesis 1:28

Then God said,"Let US make man in OUR image, after OUR likeness

Who was He talking about when He said "US" and "OUR?"

FAther, Son, Holy Spirit

God=Father, Son, Holy Spirit

Our likeness to God= Spirit, Soul, Body

The Holy Spirit actually revealed the answer to me just before I passed it to you regarding why Jesus called Mary woman instead of mother.

There are other gifts a person receives when baptized by the Holy Spirit. It isn't always tongues. I was able to touch a person and know, even though they asked for healing prayer, that they were already healed by laying hands on them. I don't use my gift of praying in tongues a lot, and never in public. I am also able to interpret tongues when I need to but there again, I don't do it often.

Blessings...

Rita

Hi Rita,

Are you saying that when one is baptized in the HS, one does not always receive a prayer language and that there may be other empowerments a HS filled believer walks in more prominently? Also when you say you don't use your gift of tongues a lot do you mean your prayer language or the gift of tongues as one of the 9 gifts of the HS? Likewise when you say you have the gift of interpretation are you referring to one of the 9 gifts of the HS or do you mean as in interpreting your prayer language?

Jane,

Where else would the gift come from?

Rita,

I asked for clarification for what you said in your initial post, but I see you did not understand what I was asking you as your response has nothing to do with what I asked you. I see the baptism of the HS as different then the gift of tongues spoken of as one of the 9 gifts of the Spirit. The first is for private expression and the other is to be used in the Church. Same thing with the interpretation of tongues. One can pray to interpret ones prayer language and then there is the interpretation of tongues that is one of the 9 gifts of the HS used in the Church which is spoken aloud so the congregation can understand what was said in tongues. I often read where ppl seem to use the terms interchangeably, but to me they are not the same thing.

Isn't it beautiful how God reveals He is a triune being right from the start of Genesis? With a careful reading of the Word, it is very clear. Likewise we are created in His imagine- we are spirits who have a soul ( mind, will and emotions ) and we live in a body that returns to the dust of the ground.

And similarly look at John 1:1-5

John 1

1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2The same was in the beginning with God.

3All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

4In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

5And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

Of course Romans 1. Let him who lacks wisdom ask of God who upbraidith not.

Hi Sis,

Do you go to a spirit-filled church? By that I mean one that teaches the Baptism of the Holy Spirit? It sounds like you don't because if you did, you would of been taught about this empowerment that is for all believers. The gift of tongues, while also tongues, is a totally separate gift. It is one of the 9 gifts of the Holy Spirit. The Baptism of the Holt Spirit is a separate and distinct experience. Not everyone is given the gift of tounges ( 9 gifts of the Holy Spirit). But everyone is free to recieve the gift of tounges as in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, in fact Jesus commanded the disciples to teach the Baptism of the HS along with salvation to every believer.

How did you receive your prayer language? Another slight correction is, it is for personal edification as well as the edification of others and has at least a dozen or more other purposes. It may sound like I mention Christian books often. I used to be a voracious reader of Christian books for years along with my Bible. But about 7 yrs ago, God told me I could read books until the cows came home and still never even make a dent in the knowledge that He will give all believers when we enter Heaven. There we will see as he sees. But for now, the Lord told me to concentrate on bringing in the Harvest, on being His witness because the time is short. There is no need on this earth to argue or debate about anything- just share truth, witness and love ppl. Because no matter how much knowledge someone has it is nothing compared to what is coming when we enter Heaven.

But regarding this subject of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, I would definitely suggest to you that you go to your local Christian bookstore or go online and  get a couple of books to read on what the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is and what this empowerment does for our spiritual walk and growth. Similar to the examples you gave, there are many other benefits of praying in tongues.  Jesus gave the entire Church this precious gift. He saves us then empowers us to live the Christian life through this gift.

There are various reasons why most who say they are believers reject this empowerment usually having to do with their denominational beliefs.. But there are also many who have not rejected this gift. To me, it's sort of like recting Jesus when someone rejects the Baptism of the HS. You know how it is when you tell someone about Jesus, but they don't believe? It's the same way with the Baptism. But those who have it are blessed of God. It strengthens us and those we pray for in so many ways. And when we pray in our prayer language we are praising God in words that can not be uttered in our native languages.

That's how I recieved the Baptims of the HS in the first place- I had just gotten saved and was telling God how grateful I was and how much I loved Him and I ran out of words in English- that's when God filled me with the HS and I have spoken in tounges every single day of my life since. I should say while all this was going on, I did tell Him I believed in His Baptism and desired to have it and that's when it happened. He will not give the Baptism to someone who does not want it. He is a gentleman and just like salvation we have to ask. By finding out all the purposes for this empowerment of which you have already discovered several, you will be totally blessed.

Oh ok praise God. I wondered at first because you said you wondered why God gave you tongues, but not the interpretation of tongues. Thought you might be referring to the gift of tongues as in the gifts of the Spirit, because as you know not everyone gets both tongues and the interpretation of tongues. But if one has the baptism one can pray for the interpretation. Yes sis, I find you to be someone who strongly relies on the Spirit and I have enjoyed reading your posts for that reason..also I totally relate to your abundant enthusiasm for the things of God and reliance on the Holy Spirit as I am the same way- Bananas 4 Jesus lol!

Right Sis, if ppl only knew how simple it is to walk with the Lord. It's not who's the smartest, the cleverest, the best theologian, the richest or anything like this that matters to God. He doesn't give His knowledge and wisdom away to just anyone. It's the one who genuinely loves Him and seeks to obey Him that He will reveal his revelation knowledge to via the Holy Spirit. Your posts are always refreshing because it is obvious that you have spent time with the Holy Spirit!

What did you want me to see in this verse?
