All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

2 Kings 2:11
As they were walking along and talking together, suddenly a chariot of fire and horses of fire appeared and separated the two of them, and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind.

This was before the birth of Jesus. However...

Before the crucifixion, Jesus said in John 3:13 (KJV): "And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven."

I keep reading this and all I can think of is omnipresent. Could this have been Christ speaking of when He came down from heaven before it had happened in our present knowledge, but also stating He was at the same time in heaven?

Yet when I read the NIV it states: "No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven—the Son of Man."

NIV has omitted "which is in heaven". Yet Christ is still speaking as if He has already ascended up to heaven. Which could represent it occurred before Elijah was taken up to heaven.

Time travel makes my head spin!

Another possibility I'm looking into, as I put together a Revelations timeline: Did Elijah's body go to heaven or just His spirit? We know that Christ's body was missing from the tomb, so His body apparently went with Him.

I think this makes my head spin more than time travel. ROFL
Several things cause me to wonder about the idea of possible levels in heaven. Suggesting the various levels or heavens with the top level being the throne room of God.

There's Lazarus in Abraham’s bosom who could see across a gulf at the rich man in torment. This suggests a lower heaven separated by a gulf, and in Abraham’s bosom suggests he wasn't yet in the throne room of God.

There's Revelation 12 about a war in heaven and satan being cast down from heaven. It speaks of those who were accused (past tense) by him, but who overcame by the blood of the lamb and the word of their testimony. Then all who dwell in heaven rejoice and woe to all who are on earth because satan is now on earth unleashing his wrath.

There's many references of heavens (plural). We even start with that. "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth."

And then of course Elijah being taken up to heaven before Christ ascends to heaven to sit at the right hand of God. So Jesus is in the throne room...THE heaven, but perhaps Elijah is in Abraham’s bosom?

I've been studying Revelation, in case you couldn't tell. LOL

There's also David, who would rather be a door keeper in the house of God. So there may be different positions in heaven. All the talk of rewards in other passages suggest this as well.

There's also mention in Revelation 21 of the new city whose gates are never closed. And those who belong to Christ come and go into the city which is God's dwelling place. This might suggest the throne room now open for all those in the heavens to freely come and go.

Anyway, these are just some things I've been studying and I'm seeing so much that suggest more than one heaven. My interest is piqued.
You're just trying to make my head spin, aren't ya?

Scripture does tell us "What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun."
OK but to spin it again...There is nothing new "under the sun". Is heaven under the sun? LOL

But for Revelation to have happened in the past, there would be evidence of a huge group of people from all over the world who all suddenly disappeared. That would make this either the Tribulation or hell. Meaning no one could believe in or love Christ/God. And while this can sometimes (pardon the expression) be hell on earth, it's nothing new under the sun. The apostles faced harder times than most do these days.

I've heard that some do believe that the rapture already occurred, but it would mean we missed it and are doomed. Which Scripture clearly shows that He hardened the hearts of those who still wouldn't repent. And with hard hearts, we'd have no interest in Scripture.

Food for thought. Doesn't matter if the food is the chicken or the egg. LOL
Ok now I no longer know which came first. I don't even remember what a chicken looks like. LOL

I'm trying to create a time line and commentary on Revelation, so I'm trying to gain different perspectives on some things. And this is one area that I couldn't even figure out how to write any comments on while it's linked to one area I'm covering.

So now I have to figure out how to work a chicken egg into Elijah going to heaven before Christ ascended yet didn't because Christ told us no one had. Maybe the angel that fed and strengthened Elijah fed him chicken and eggs.
LOLOL
