All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

And also, I understand that Jesus, the Apostles and many other followers of God prayed constantly and for long hours. I've been hearing people say a prayer that is said for a longer time is more effective than one that is shorter. When I tried praying for a longer time than I usually do, I ended up repeating myself and blabbing on and on which I know is wrong because Jesus said in Matthew 6:7 "And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think
they will be heard because of their many words."
I say short prayers but they come from the heart, I don't pray when I feel like I'm doing it in vain. I hear other Christians pray and their prayers are so eloquent but I don't like praying in a way that everyone here's me and I feel like because my prayers are not as long or as powerful as other people's, I'll miss out on blessings that God would have planned to give me if only I had prayed for that little longer. What is the right thing to do?

Matthew 6:7 "And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think
they will be heard because of their many words."

Prayer is a sacred conversation just between you and God...think about what would be pleasing to hear from HIS son in you......take the time out to truly pray and be silent and hear HIM be quiet and be peaceful in mind body and soul listen and now that HE IS GOD all prayer is important but it is important to pray and ask for the right things if that makes sense....

you may pray with others but do it righteously in praising HIS name through it all.

Allow your inner heart desires to flow out from your mouth and be free to let it all out and go with the flow allow the Holy Spirit to pray for you and let it be.

Yes you pray in silence as you walk in faith everywhere you go you become a living prayer that is of service to Gods will Amen. To hear and to be heard by the one who prays by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Rely on Jesus not of yourself to be able to get the words out and let the Holy Spirit guide you into what must be done for the will of God.
Sis pray without a doubt trusting that all that you ask of in HIS name is heard and that you may be in peace to live and serve the Lord loving GOD and loving other in Christ.
Our Father, who art in heaven
hallowed be thy Name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven
hallowed be thy Name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven
hallowed be thy Name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.
Hi Stacey,

Blessings little sis... I'm wondering why you are repeating this prayer 3 times?

This prayer "Our Father who are in Heaven..." is an outline of prayer for us to follow. This is not the only prayer we are to pray. I know you didn't say that here..but I am sensing you may be believing that because of an earlier conversation we had in chat.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” (Philippians 4:6)

God wants to hear our requests... This is not to preach 'prosperity' not at all..but rather a prayer knowing that only He can help us.... We are only looking to Him. The Holy Spirit helps us.

Romans 8:26 (NIV)
26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.

We must come to God with a heart that is humble admitting our need for Him, and in a right relationship, having confessed our sins. Sometimes my prayers are tears because I don't have the words ...but The Holy Spirit relays them for me.
Dear Angel,

I am not trying to go off subject here but what I am trying to say is that worshiping the Lord in spirit and in truth and asking Him in the same manner is what really pleases Him and put you at peace. It does not matter if your prayers are long or short, you can simply pray "Jesus help Me" and He will or you can go on long prayers with all the elequont words and the Lord will hear, it is the Holy Spirit Who helps you to pray, Amen like Carla mentioned verse 8:26.
You can read the whole chapter of 1 Samuel 1 and especially verse 15 and read for yourself how Hannah prayed. It does not matter how you pray as long you pray in Jesus name only, not in your name or any other human being name. God answers your prayers because of his goodness, His love and for His name sake. Do not judge people who pray with fancy words, instead join them and worship with them if the Holy Spirit leads you, ask Him.
John 4:23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 God is spirit and His worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.
Philippians 3:3 For it is we who are the circumcision, we who worship by the Spirit of God, who glory in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh--

Love and blessings,
theresa,
Short prayers are good, long prayers are good, too.

As the saying goes, "Pray as you can, and not as you can't."

Of course, lingering in His presence is simply...awesome. But that takes quiet.
