All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

The Word of God clearly tells us not be unequally yoked with unbelievers.  How does a person deal with situations in work, school, etc. relationships with others in relation to this scripture?

I find myself in uncomfortable situations where others are talking about "ungodly" and "immoral" things.

I am unsure of of how I should react to these situations except to walk away.  What should a Christian do in these situations?

Michelle,

It must be really difficult to work in a secular world.  I believe that God calls us into such circumstances so that we can shine our light, and be the salt.  I think you are responding powerfully when you walk away without saying a word.  You are standing out as different.  Continue to love on them, and let them see Jesus in you.  No Christian has ever made a difference in a broken lost world by hanging out with only Christians.

How can we preach the gospel to the lost if we are not around them.  We are not to engage in the things they are doing (that is ..the things of the world)..  but we would have to leave the world in order to avoid being around them..  These are the people that Jesus went to specifically.

I believe the references to being unequally yoked with unbelievers is referring to apostates, or false teachers..  What are the verses you are looking at so we can read them in context?

This is why is so essential that we have a beautiful relationship with God (by no means am I saying, you don't, I believe you do), because we have numerous instructions throughout the bible on how to deal with this situation. We see that the servants of the Lord dealt differently, when confronting this issue, in distinct occasions. The common denominator is that each time they confronted the issue; they sought the Lord's guidance or acted upon the commands of the Lord that deal with the issue. Whenever they did not, they had negative consequences.

I love going to work in new places full of unbelievers, is awesome, I always seek God's guidance on how to approach them and He takes it from there, I simply follow his leading. Sometimes that means separating as you described from them, well it always means separating, but in different degrees as God leads.
