Do testing times and trials have to be connected to stressful events?  Can they just 'happen'?

Hi Choco,

I just want to say that trials comes in many different ways. No matter what circumstance you are in, things will happen. Things happen in our lives to strengthen us and to help us get closer to God. Out of our trials and tribulations comes a testimony when we over come. God will not give you anything you can't handle.

When you mentioned stressful events, it seems that you're stressing over something in life that's hindering you from being at peace. God loves his people and wants the best for them, but he also wants his people to put their trust in him. He wants them to give and lift their problems to him. “Come unto Me, all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you shall find rest for your souls.  For My yoke is easy and My burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30). When we make our worries and problems bigger than our God, then we make it an idol. God is greater and bigger than our worries and problems. Put God first always in life and know that he has everything under control.

I know at times it could be overwhelming with what's going on in life, but it will get better when you believe that God is in control. Praise him in the good and bad times, sad, happy, joyful moments for he will be glad. It shows faithfulness to him, because he knows that you still could praise him in those areas. Hope this helps.

By the way Amanda, that was a good article that you posted.

One of the greatest trials I ever experienced was when I was at a new found pinnacle of success many years ago. I found myself full of heady pride-inducing accomplishment and recognition - having just achieved something I had never done before.

Alone, in a strange city, with new levels of expendable income and total anonymity, i experienced abundant temptation. It still amazes me how quickly that went to my head. Had it not been for the several years of self disciplines that I had developed before, and if it had not been for the merciful guiding hand of my God, I know I would have fallen into sin.

I recalled later, as I repented for considering the temptation, that proverbs says "Better the poor whose walk is blameless than the rich whose ways are perverse."  I also remembered that it is far more difficult for a rich man to overcome temptations than a poor man.

God is good and does not allow us to be tempted more than we can bear. But we have to be willing to resist temptations and we have to determine in advance that we want to succeed under trials.

We need to have faith that if God brings us to it, He will bring us to it. Even if He doesn't bring us to it, He will bring us through it. If you are stressed, give it to Him.
Blessings,
Rita
