All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

It's that time of year again. Thanksgiving is only a little over a week away then the Christmas shopping will be in full swing. And once again, we are faced with “offending” others if we say “merry Christmas”. Saying “happy holidays” leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Stores go all out to make money off of the Christmas season, yet so many employees of those stores refuse to say “merry Christmas”. Stores gladly make money from purchases that are to be Christmas gifts, not holiday gifts. If merchants will stop and think about it, why do we even have a “Christmas” season? Because of our Savior's birth. His name isn't “holiday”. It's Jesus Christ! Without Him, there wouldn't a Christmas season, yet nobody wants to say “merry Christmas”.

I know when I'm out and about and someone says “happy holidays”, I will correct them loudly and say “Merry Christmas!”

Has anyone else felt uncomfortable about “happy holidays”?

Wow really! people get offended by merry Christmas? Here in uk that's what is said mostly, happy holidays must be an American saying anyway yes I detest the materialistic commercialism that CHristmas has become for so many. as I type my youngest is stressing over 'what she'll get! Ugh it makes me want tO send her to Africa.for Christmas to help in an orphanage lol.

that's how degraded america has gotten lucy. there are muslims that are offended, atheists that are offended, and those that have no opinion at all about God that are offended. if i offend someone in the name of our Lord, so be it! it will always be "merry Christmas" for me. glad to hear from you. God bless!

Amen

sheryl used to work at a place that had a policy of no religious pictures of any kind. she had to quit because of her disability but she said she would have been fired eventually because of her faith. you can't just block out Jesus. that's what many stores and institutions try to do. not going to happen!

sometimes i wonder about Christians, if they think about what message they're sending by being absent minded. i would think a pic of our Savior should be first on a list of Christmas projects.

amen!

I actually don't shop at a store that sells*holiday gifts*. I look specifically for store that promote the Christ...mas season. If they don't, well, I keep my pennies in my pocket and pass up their store because I am specifically shopping for Christ...mas gifts.

Blessings,

Rita

good for you rita!

yes He is!!

amen!!! the aclu and other detractors to keeping Christ in Christmas never think of that. someday they'll think of it when it's too late.

amen, my sister! His coming can not come too soon!

between all the commercialism and like you said, praying to anyone but God, i'm sure some forget why we celebrate Christmas. i wonder if the rich who give their kids everything under the sun remember to tell them why they're celebrating. i also believe Christ's birthday is in april instead of december but we should celebrate it everyday and forget the commercialism. uh oh, looks like i'm no longer "politically correct". people forget muhammad and buddah are in the grave, but our Savior is alive and well!
