Judges 4:17-20

KJV 17 Howbeit Sisera fled away on his feet to the tent of Jael the wife of Heber the Kenite: for there was peace between Jabin the king of Hazor and the house of Heber the Kenite. 18 And Jael went out to meet Sisera, and said unto him, Turn in, my lord, turn in to me; fear not. And when he had turned in unto her into the tent, she covered him with a mantle. 19 And he said unto her, Give me, I pray thee, a little water to drink; for I am thirsty. And she opened a bottle of milk, and gave him drink, and covered him. 20 Again he said unto her, Stand in the door of the tent, and it shall be, when any man doth come and inquire of thee, and say, Is there any man here? that thou shalt say, No.

The New Jerusalem Bible

Judges 4:17-20

4:17 Sisera meanwhile fled on foot towards the tent of Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite. For there was peace between Jabin king of Hazor and the family of Heber the Kenite.
4:18 Jael came out to meet Sisera and said to him, 'Stay here, my lord, with me; do not be afraid!' He stayed with her in her tent, and she covered him with a rug.
4:19 He said to her, 'Please give me a little water to drink, for I am thirsty.' She opened the skin of milk, gave him some to drink and covered him up again.
4:20 Then he said to her, 'Stand at the tent door, and if anyone comes and questions you -- if he asks, "Is there a man here?" say, "No." '

These are my thoughts, please share yours.

17 He fled somewhere he thought he could find peace, the truth is when you are not following after the Lord peace is not long term but thru Him we can have a peace that last deep within our soul.

18 She showed care for him and she seemed like someone he could trust.

19 Milk often times helps people sleep so this is why she gave him milk instead of water, he would have slept more soundly.

20 Sometimes we put our trust in the wrong people, we are to put our trust in the Lord and not those of the world but our friends in Him, we may think people are our friends and are people we trust but they are not, He is always someone we can trust.

It is true that when we trust in people we are disappointed a good deal of the time. However, this man was under God's judgment. God is omnipresent. There's no hiding from God and no real refuge apart from God. All of God's enemies are condemned and are under judgment unless they repent and God is just.
