Joshua 6:20-21

KJV 20 So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city. 21 And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox, and sheep, and ass, with the edge of the sword.

The New Jerusalem Bible

Joshua 6:20-21

6:20 The people raised the war cry, the trumpets sounded. When the people heard the sound of the trumpet, they raised a mighty war cry and the wall collapsed then and there. At once the people stormed the city, each man going straight forward; and they captured the city.
6:21 They enforced the curse of destruction on everyone in the city: men and women, young and old, including the oxen, the sheep and the donkeys, slaughtering them all.

These are my thoughts, please share yours.

20 Trumpets were blown to announce war and to go to worship, this was war. God fought the war for them in part by destroying the wall there would people that died due to the wall falling but this also gave them to opening they needed to take this city in the name of the Lord. The Lord with them so it was not long before they took the city, Jericho’s main deference was simply the wall.

21 They put everything to death as they the Lord wanted; God asked them to destroy this was them bringing his judgment to the people.
