All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

Joshua 6:20-21

KJV 20 So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city. 21 And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox, and sheep, and ass, with the edge of the sword.

The New Jerusalem Bible

Joshua 6:20-21

6:20 The people raised the war cry, the trumpets sounded. When the people heard the sound of the trumpet, they raised a mighty war cry and the wall collapsed then and there. At once the people stormed the city, each man going straight forward; and they captured the city.
6:21 They enforced the curse of destruction on everyone in the city: men and women, young and old, including the oxen, the sheep and the donkeys, slaughtering them all.

These are my thoughts, please share yours.

20 They were ready to go to war but they had no idea what the Lord would do. The wall inwards onto the people in the city, their own protection God used to be their undoing, this wall prevented people from coming in and as long as they were in that wall they thought they were fine but God had their wall fall down on them, we often times build up our own walls, God can knock them down so that we can come to His will. God gave them to city.

21 This seems cruel to do away with everyone of the city both young and old but it is what the Lord wanted from them. God’s judgment was to fall on everyone. God’s judgment may seem cruel but God is just and them listening to the Lord was not cruel but was justice, those that were rebellious were brought to God’s wrath because unlike Rehab they did not seek out God’s grace, those that do not seek out His grace will face His wrath.

I like your thoughts. The following song is one of my favorites since I was very young. It's called Walls by Paul Smith. http://youtu.be/Y1seGZ3hQsA
