All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

I recently watched a Joel Olsteen sermon online and his message was that we should wake up everyday and expect God to give us good things in our life.  "Today, God will do something good for me."  I feel like his motivational message was keeping a "half glass full" attitude, but I just didn't feel comfortable thinking with the mindset to expect goodness from God just because I am following his will.  Of course it feels amazing when God blesses me with his good graces & gifts, but it just didn't seem right to EXPECT something.  Your thoughts?

I see your point, but the point I am making and will try and clarify is that the judgment is not prone to negative outcomes anymore than it is prone to positive outcomes. It is not preconceived or bias, but directed according to the evidence and the guiding law. Judgment in a court is based on established laws of the land. God's judgment is based on His character, Law and Word. Thus, the judgment is neutrally disposed to a positive or negative verdict until the evidence is given and then driven by evidence and truth.

Most people view judgment only from the condemnation angle and that is simply not the case ... praise God for that!!!

Hope that helps to clarify what I mean.

It is not preconceived or bias

This is where normally I would begin to argue that true objectivity in the human arena (not with God) is impossible and all verdicts or conclusions are based on a set of values and are value judgments and therefore subjective because there is always the possibility of more evidence that might change matters, but I know you don't have time for that so I will let you off the hook. This time. :)

I will ponder a different term to improve clarity :-)

Greetings all,

Every now and then we come across a discussion that runs its course and serves no purpose to leave open. Our personal ndividual goal should not be to judge any person, but rather evaluate the message. Many views have been shared on this topic. Thus it is time to close this one down and move on.

Lord Bless,
