How do we refute the Claim of the homosexual community that they are born with such tendencies That it has to do with genetics?
21For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.
24Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.
26Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. 27In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion. 28Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. 29They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.
Come on Grazer you have a bit more intelligence than that, Dude Genesis 2:17 is referring to Adam and Eve. You and I are not Adam and Eve. All of humanity after the fall are born into sin. Your mate is no exception, she can testify to whatever she wants but the truth is that there is no gay gene and even if there was one, that only means that the creation itself is subject to corruption and the same God that delivers people from whatever, can deliver her if she repents and believes in God.
Well you are mistaken and you who pride yourself in being such a rebel have fallen for the lie of the world that everyone should be treated the same blah blah blah. I do not treat a drunk the same, or a murderer the same, or a liar the same as I treat everyone else. I treat every individual accordingly. According to God's leading, but I know what you mean, we do not alienate people because of their sin. That is true; we actually reach out to those the most. To every one really since everyone can relate to everyone else in this one thing.
If she is born into sin as we all are, that surely adds more weight to the "they didn't choose to be this way" argument. She can choose Christ and be saved but that doesn't mean she will automatically start fancying guys. There are a number of gay Christians who have chosen not to engage in physical acts with members of the same sex but aren't completely comfortable with getting with the opposite sex. It just seems more complicated and needs to be handled with care.
When I said I treat everyone the same, I meant as you put it, I take them as I find them.
If there is a gay gene (and we have no idea if there is) and it is discovered, that opens up a whole new can of worms as I can see the word "cure" being used and that really will get horribly messy.
Btw I don't pride myself in being a rebel, I just put my view and find not many people agree lol
They are as God made them and who are we to question how God made them?
That's the major point though Jessica, did God make them this way? God created Eve for Adam, to be with him, this (according to the opposing view) is proof that God intended for a man to be with a woman and vice versa. The book of Leviticus is quite explicit about how homosexuality should be dealt with (though whether this is an actual commandment from God I am not sure on given the text) and Paul in his letters is too (though probably just basing it on the Old Testament) Maybe he did make them this way, maybe it's not wrong just different.
I completely agree with you though, I don't know anyone who's gay/lesbian who made a concious choice to be that way. I wouldn't want people trying to change who I am and I won't do it to others.
I never said that, I merely pointed out the flaw in your use of that passage and what the Bible is in terms of it not being 1 single book by 1 human author (the gospels weren't written by the same person for a start)
There are those who do believe what you've put, I listened to an interview with an elder member of the Scottish church who said he believed there a lot of man made laws in the Bible as well as Gods ones.
If gay men or woman decide to show love in a marriage relationship, then so be it???????
No way Matteo. With all due respect to you bro, no way, not acceptable and as Children of God and the light and salt of this dying world we must stand up for righteousness. We must fight those laws in the civil courts or wherever they come up.
A person living a sin habitually after being confronted in love in all the prescribed manners in scripture cannot be allowed to continue in Church as if nothing is happening, as if living in rebellion/habitual sin is acceptable, may it never be. We need men and woman of God who stand for God's commands. We would not allow a habitual rapist or drunk to continue to fellowship among us if he/she blatantly is in opposition to Christ's commands, would we? We shouldn't.
Righteousness? How about equality? According to the Old Testament we should still have slavery and according to Paul women should be treated as 2nd class citizens yet I don't see anyone here advocating either of those things. They're people who just want the same rights as everyone else. They did not choose to be this way. My main (and pretty much only) concern is churches being forced into conducting homosexual marriages against their will, they should be given the ability to choose if they wish to conduct such ceremonies. If my mate met someone and she wanted to marry her, I would gladly be there for her to witness it.
continue to fellowship among us if he/she blatantly is in opposition to Christ's commands, would we? We shouldn't.
So what's your stance on gay Christians then? Christians who have given themselves to Christ but are still attracted to members of the same sex?
When we accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and personal Savior. We make Him Lord of our life not just the savior.
We cannot be on the driver seat of our life and call Him Lord. Any one who is in Christ is a new creation, the old had gone and new has come. When we got saved, we are saved completely cleansed by the Blood of the Lamb. Changes should take place in a process depending on our submission to the POTTER hands. LIVING IN A SINFUL LIFE ALWAYS BRINGS A QUESTION ABOUT HIS SALVATION, ARE YOU REALLY SAVED? Redeem people doesn't continue in sinning but i doesn't meant we are not capable of sinning. God is faithful and Just but don't use this to indulge in sinful nature. Christians should have new a set of mind and that is to praise and glorify God. We are sinful in nature that's why we need Jesus Christ in our life, to be called peculiar people. Living that is pleasing to the Father. our deeds a sweet aroma unto His feet.TRAIN A CHILD IN THE WAY HE SHOULD GO , AND WHEN HE IS OLD HE WILL NOT TURN FROM IT. Parents has a great responsibility for their children. Thats why they are gift, either you cherish it and treat it so precious or treat as of no value. Environment and others can be a factor with our upbringing with respect to the studies. BIBLE is our life guidelines, outside of it is lies and deception.
