Adebiyi,

 

There are three basic categories. 1) God focused. 2) Evil focused (sin based). 3) Neutral, neither focused on God or evil.

 

If the focus is on God or neutral then the genre of music is acceptable. If the lyrics cross the line and glorify evil in any way then one should turn it off or change the channel.

 

To the community as a whole:

Music is always a contentious subject, but to give it some comparison to other forms I would asks us all the following:

Do we read only Christian material or do we read other books, newspapers and magazines?

Do we watch only Christian TV or do we watch other TV programs?

Food for thought?

Music... am a music lover.. But I choose which kind of music I listen to..

You could check on the lyrics, check it out with the word of God, pray about it and do as the Holy Spirit leads you sis. :)

Does it helps you spiritually strong? Does it encourages you. does it builds your faith in God or does it leads you astray?
