All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

Did you ever notice that a very great percentage of motion pictures deal with the subjects of Love and War (not necessarily together).

There is an excellent passage starting in Romans 3:20-22 that provides a good basis a reflection on War and Love:

Therefore no-one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin. But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. We are made right in God’s sight when we trust in Jesus Christ to take away our sins. And we all can be saved in this same way, no matter who we are or what we have done.

In the passages preceding this verse we get a different angle on the spiritual war taking place. Not in the traditional declaration of good angels verses evil demons, but rather an explicit declaration of the total undeniable sin of man. As we enter into verse 3:22, the overwhelming love (agape love) by our Father in Heaven is declared.

That terrible sin, that will face justice at the end of the age - the sin that entered the world in the day of Adam and had caused the death of man - that sin that today is responsible for the spiritual war taking place on Earth. That is the battle of all battles - war of all wars. And mixed with this war is the overwhelming love of God expressed by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Because sin requires payment and payment for sin is death. The love of Christ to die for us so that we may live.

That is I believe why we find movies on war and love so intriguing. We are hardwired to acknowledge that reality that God has written on our hearts. We know deep down that there is a war between good and evil.

So Love and War. They go together from now till the end of this age. For we who are reborn in Christ can appreciate the agape love of the Father and stand firm in the war knowing that God will never forsake us.

Methinks moving to Romans 3:24 is the path to Victory as one is Justified... Isn't this the same idea as Paul stated in Romans 7...as the wretched man comes to the realization: Thanks Be To God Who Gives Me Victory so I can always Triumph in Him??!!
