Divorce grieves the heart of God. It wasn't His original intention and according to the Bible, He hates it. It has become culturally acceptable here in the USA, but it will never be acceptable to God.

Marriage is a picture of God's love for us and his gift of salvation. Jesus is our bridegroom. Does Jesus just up and decide he doesn't like us anymore and then divorce us? No.

Unfortunately, in this country at least, people do not take their wedding vows/oaths seriously. When it becomes inconvenient for them to stay married, they bail out and the destruction on the family and society is incalcuable.

The only biblical reason for divorce is adultery by one of the partners, but it is an allowance, not a command to divorce in that case. In many states in this country we have "no-fault" divorce. If one partner wants a divorce, then that's it; there is nothing the other can do. Many people are divorced without wanting to be. They want to stay married so I feel very sad for them and I know God does too. They are not to blame.

Christians need to understand how seriously God takes their vows. Our words are extremely important to God. They are a binding contract. If people are not 100% committed to keeping their vows regardless of the personal cost to them, it is better that they never marry. It is that serious!

In Matthew 19:10-12, the disciples, seeing how prevalent divorce was in their day, said to Jesus, "If this is the situation between a husband and wife, it is better not to marry." Jesus agreed with them!

Believers need to take 1 Corinthians chapter 7 seriously.

Count the cost beforehand. If you are not in it for life, don't get married. You'll only be bringing judgment upon yourself.
Hello Greg , thank you for your reply . I am agree with your points. Joel charan
Joel, thanks for these reminders of scripture. Those who have a marriage in Christ have a good thing to be thankful for.
