Building A Sure Foundation For Christian Growth

He is like a man which built an house, and dig deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently on that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded on a rock. Luke 6:48 BEING FOUNDED IN THE FAITH

BUILDING A SURE FOUNDATION FOR CHRISTIAN GROWTH

You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free(John 8:32)

You have the truth revealed in the Bible which is the word of God
(See allaboutgod.com- Is the Bible True?)
This is the foundation we build our Christian life upon.
Just like any building project we have to start with a foundation.
If we build our foundation upon the rock of truth we will not be moved
When we are assaulted by storms of doubt, and winds of persecution.
We won’t be moved because we have a foundation of truth.

It all starts with the truth concerning salvation Roman 8:8-13
8 Salvation that comes from trusting Christ--which is the message we preach--is already within easy reach. In fact, the Scriptures say, "The message is close at hand; it is on your lips and in your heart."
9 For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.
11 As the Scriptures tell us, "Anyone who believes in him will not be disappointed.
12 Jew and Gentile are the same in this respect. They all have the same Lord, who generously gives his riches to all who ask for them.
13 For "Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

My hope that this group will be a place where you can discover truth so you can grow and mature in your new found faith and that you will be rooted and grounded in that truth.

>If you have not been born again by the Spirit of God; I invite you to do so now. John 3:16 says that God loved the world so much that he gave his only son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins and for the sins of the whole world. Eph 2-8-10 Paul tells us that our good works won’t save us, we can never be good enough to be saved.
We are all sinners and we need a savior and I want to let you know that through trusting in Jesus and what He has done, you can be saved, spiritually born again, and become a part of Gods family.

Pray and ask God to forgive you and receive the gift of salvation provided for you. Invite Jesus into your life and give control of your life to the Holy Spirit. God is no respecter of persons and His word promises that whoever calls upon the Lord will be saved.

Greetings in the Name of the Lord Jesus!

This is exactly what the Apostle Paul was talking about when the Holy Spirit recorded in the very first chapter in Paul's first letter to the Corinthians. Every denomination thinks they have the embodiment of truth. But let's call denomminations what God calls them, "DIVISIONS". And they are the works of the flesh. We have two major "divisions" in Christendom, as we all well know, which are Catholicism and Protestantism. We have further "divisions" within each of these, which man likes to "dress up in tuxedo" and parade them around town. I won't go through the whole of naming all of them, we all know them. But even the non-denominational label is now a "division". They fit into the "I am exclusively of Christ" camp. And we know who fits into the "I am of the Pope" camp and also who fits into the "I am of Luther" camp. But what does the Holy Spirit say about this? He says "I can only speak to you as babes for you are yet carnal". Does the Holy Spirit say this through the Apostle or not? "For while there are divisions among you, are you not carnal?" Let me ask you this question. Was the Pope crucified for you? Was Martin Luther crucified for you? Was John Wesley crucified for you? Was John Neldon Darby crucified for you? Were the Anabaptists crucified for you? Was Orthodoxy crucified for you? Was even any kind of doctrine crucified for you?
But we are to diligently keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace, until we all come to the unity of the faith. You who argue doctrine are paralized and have put yourselves in a position where it is impossible to grow up any further into the fulness of Christ in which we are called. If you simply ask the Lord to crucify to "divisions" He will most assuredly do it. Then you will be freed from the bonds of satan and released to be able to fellowship in the Spirit with Christians of all camps, regardless of their doctrines or creeds. Anyone whom the Lord receives I have to receive as well. I don't have to agree with their doctrine, but I have to receive them as a child of God in Christ. That is if Christ is in them.
I have met the risen Lord Jesus Christ in living and vibrant experience. I have personally met and read Catholics who knew the Lord, and I have met many Catholics who do not know the Lord. I have personally met and read many Protestants who knew the Lord, and many who did not know the Lord. And pastors and preachers and deacons and bishops and priests and popes and doctors of divinity and so on and so on all fall into that explanation. No title means that anyone has been born of the Spirit. To be born of the Spirit you simply have to be born of the Spirit. That is the only thing that puts you in the Body of Christ, which is One. Doctrine, no matter how accurate, can not save anybody. No denomination can save you. The Lord is the One who does that. He says there is One Body and One Spirit, and we are to diligently keep that unity in the bond of peace. Otherwise you are carnal. The only way to be freed from this is to stop looking up at Jesus on the Cross and get up there on it with Him and see that "you are crucified with Christ". All this arguing of doctrine is simply the "self-life" manifesting it's desire to be right. And it will retard your spiritual growth to the point that you will end your days on earth as only a babe in Christ. And that does exclude you from the marriage supper of the Lamb. I find it very hard to believe that God would marry His Beloved Son to a babe! Does not Christ deserve a mature and fit Bride?
I can truly say that I am in good company in saying these things. If I were to go through a list you would see that I am surrounded by a "great cloud of witnesses" to these things who are "overcomers". And that list would include Catholic mystics such as John of the Cross, Francis de Sales, Madame Guyon, Archbishop Francois Fenelon, and others. And it would also include Protestants who were mightily used by God such as George Fox, John Wesley, Martin Luther, Count Zinzendorf, John Nelson Darby, William Law, Jessie Penn-Lewis, Watchman Nee and many others. And though they have "finished the race". God is still using them! But they would tell you the same thing I just did and am about to, TAKE YOUR EYES OFF OF MAN AND HOLD FAST THE HEAD!

Yours in the Beloved,
R. Evan-Gombach

This is a reply to the comment left to me by Carol Ann Poisson. Her words are in Bold and my response is in regular type.

Dear Sister Sharon:
I understand what you are saying but in all fairness Hon I have to say it is not the Catholics we dislike? It is their doctrine that is leading many people to damnation by their statement.

Really??

Yes they do use some of God's words but to mix the truth with a lie it all a lie.

Really??

I am a former catholic for 52 years , and Honey all I got was the Hail Mary, and Mary this and mary that, and surac, and The Macabees, and never from the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I do remember that the Priest did say a few scriptures. They gave their sermon, and every time I leave the church I still felt empty inside, and I said Lord Jesus there has to be more to you than this.?

I am sorry you had a bad experience. Maybe the Priest in your parish did not offer the Daily Mass. In which case he would be guilty of horrendous sin but, please do not condemn all Catholic Christians because of the sin of any one priest.

So Hon, I pray that everyone will look at the scriptures to find God's truth, and not listen to what man says about the Word of God without the knowledge of Him. How can they preach about God when they have no knowledge of Him?

That is a good question. You seem to have had a bad experience and for that I am sorry. My Catholic Christian faith is totally grounded in Scripture as is the Holy Catholic Church herself.

To Know God is too Love Him, and to have that personal relationship with Jesus Christ, is to read His Word., and find out who Jesus really is. Almighty God!

I agree with you and so does the Pope.

God Bless You honey, and I pray that you will pray for those who are trapped in a bed of lies. John 8: 32 Jesus said and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.

I will say a special prayer today ‘for those who are trapped in a bed of lies’.

love to all in Jesus Name
Rev. Carol Ann

And His love to you as well my Sister in Christ!

Christopher it goes to show that God loves Catholics and wants everyone to come to the knowledge of the truth. I have former Catholic friends who were saved while still in the Catholic Church. All the elements are present and the Holy Spirit uses the truth that is present to touch and transform lives.

Bob,

Thank you! I think this is the only nice thing I have read about Catholic Christians here at allaboutgod.net.

Sharon.
