AllAboutGOD.NET - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

being saved is one of the most best things that can happen whuch you probably already know that. I heard my preacher talking about Satan trying to turn people away from God. How can he do that? why does he want to turn us away from something so good. I know he is God's enemy.
but is that the only reason why?

Dakota,

Satan's pride is what bought him a ticket out of Heaven with a future pass to floor seating in the lake of fire. Pride is one of the sins that God really hates. God is perfect and in that perfection he cannot tolerate sin. There is always a penalty for sin and that penalty is death. Satan is still deluded into thinking that he can win the spiritual battle on earth and he goes after as many souls as he can because he is evil. Satan is the opposite of good. So being in the zone of evil, it is quite easy for Satan to turn people away from God. My personal reading on the topic is that Satan is intoxicated with power and position and even in his fallen state, he imagines himself to be rather important. He is after all bringing home the bounty in souls that are not in Christ.

Generally I try not to think too much about Satan. I don't believe it is particularly healthy to dwell on him as a topic. It is certainly not a good idea to attempt to directly confront Satan or directly interact with him in any manner. You need the power of Jesus and God and the Holy Spirit to intercede for you when you are in a time of spiritual trouble. Call directly on Jesus to give you assistance. Request that our Lord push back the temptations and distractions and wicked requests that are a continual barrage from the evil one.

God bless!

I agree with much that has been said here, but i just want to mention that i don't think Satan is deluded in thinking he can win the spiritual battle here on earth, although he will definately go after any soul here on earth who leaves an 'open door' for him to enter. He knows he has been defeated, Christ has already won the battle, and our Victory is in the Risen Lord Jesus Christ. Satan does want to bring as many souls with him as possible. He hates anyone who accepts Jesus, and will torment you if you let him. Remember, you already have the victory because of Jesus. Please read the book of Philippians. It is a JoyFul reminder for us as to why we stay strong in the Lord.
I particularly like the following:
Phil 3:12-14 NLT
Pressing toward the Goal.
I don't mean to say that i have already achieved these things or that i have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. No, dear brothers and sisters, i have not achieved it, but i focus on this one thing; Forgetting the past, and looking forward to what lies ahead. I press on the reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

I hope this helps you Dakota. I pray you will have a Blessed Day, In Him, carla

Dakota, Yes Satan can turn you away from God.

There are many who are saved, but either become cynical and legalistic or begin to wander into sin and selfish gain. Jesus explains this in the parable of the sower and the four soils in Matthew 13. One of the soils represent those who are never saved, two of them represent those who are saved but have their faith shipwrecked.

The point Jesus is making is to have a heart for God, like the fourth soil - ready to receive the word and bear fruit. In that way, we are not subject to the work of the enemy who comes to steal away the word that Jesus gives.

This is why it is so important to study God's word, with a heart to be changed. Pray that God will prepare your heart and grow the seed he has given you.

Blessings,

I strongly concur with Scribe's recommendations as being the best focus for you. Understand the parable that he referenced in Matthew 13:

13:18 “So listen to the parable of the sower: 13:19 When anyone hears the word about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches what was sown in his heart; this is the seed sown along the path. 13:20 The seed sown on rocky ground is the person who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy. 13:21 But he has no root in himself and does not endure; when trouble or persecution comes because of the word, immediately he falls away. 13:22 The seed sown among thorns is the person who hears the word, but worldly cares and the seductiveness of wealth choke the word, so it produces nothing. 13:23 But as for the seed sown on good soil, this is the person who hears the word and understands. He bears fruit, yielding a hundred, sixty, or thirty times what was sown.”

Dakota,

Satan wants to be greater than God and for everyone to worship and serve him, including God. That is what temptation is all about from the first sin in the garden until Jesus returns. Who is God and who will we believe and obey? (See Isaiah 14:12-14; Matthew 4:1-10).

Have a great day.
