All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

Thanks for your comments Carla. My point is that new believers could be confused by this oh so happy prayer of salvation. 2 Corinthians 5

Mary, I totally agree with you about the so-called 'sinner's' prayer. It has been used & abused through many generations & people walk away thinking I've got this but continue living life as before. Kinda like the Catholics who feel that the priest places a little wafer on their tongue, Christ then indwells in them. We definitely need to expound on this sinner's prayer indeed. Be blessed sister.

Carla, I still carry guilt for my children & how irresponsible I have been in living or rather NOT living in the Lord's will has costed them. Of course, nothing I can do about my past. I just have to move forward in His grace & pray they see Him indwelling in me from this day forward. He doesn't wish that any should perish but all come to the full knowledge of Him. That is my hope with my kids. Luv u girl

Hi Mary,

Thanks for your encouragement.  I would like to hear your suggestions for sharing the gospel.

I have many unsaved family members whom I have been praying for --many years now.  Recently my youngest son has told me he doesn't believe.  It tears me apart.  In this process God has shown me a few things.  First thing-- HE's Savior. I'm not.  Secondly, It's God's love that brings people to repentance.  Thirdly, the Holy Spirit is the only One who can bring conviction of sin which leads to repentance. Finally, the single most important thing I can do to bring others to Christ is pray.  When I pray it accomplishes several things--it keeps me closely connected with our Lord acknowledging I need Him 24/7, and it also allows the Holy Spirit to do HIS job when I get out of the way. ;-)

I used to have a lot of guilt over family members not coming to the Lord--  like I was doing something wrong in the delivery of the gospel.  But I've been learning that it a matter of freedom to choose life or reject it.  It is absolutely true that the gospel must be presented biblically, the burial of Jesus is a part of it because it fulfills important prophecy from Isaiah 53.  If we say that Jesus wasn't buried, we are in effect saying that prophecy didn't come true.  The part that we really want to emphasize is ALL of it. :-)  It all matters.  The resurrection makes our hearts just leap with JOY and peace and Victory in Christ over all things, causing us to proclaim JESUS IS LORD.  HE's the only one who gets to say how I live.  He's my redeemer, sanctifier, lover of my soul.

Bless you Mary.  You have truly demonstrated a teachable spirit yielding to His leading.

Love In Christ, Carla

Tammy, thank you for holding me accountable.

The truth is that I get upset when I feel like my Fathers death is portrayed as a simple burial.  He was crucified and suffered greatly for all of us.  I feel like the salvation prayer on this site is too soft and does not convict the sinner of his sins.  If it did, then Carla wouldn’t be working so hard day and night trying to answer everyone’s questions.  Let’s work together.  Carla, I love you as my sister in Christ and I know that you love Jesus.  You have such a loving heart that you spend a lot of your time helping others.  What’s I’ve come to understand is that we can share the Good News all day long, but unless people accept that they are sinners, then they cannot be saved.  God won’t let them see what you and I see and the devil will try to separate us, but we say “Nope, not today satan”!  Amen!  I will chat with you later ok and we can exchange phone numbers if you like.  We are to blessed to be stressed, Amen

Yea, it appears the pride is actually coming from you Mary. Your comments are so arrogant & holier-than-thou that it doesn't even SADDEN me. It actually angers me for you to say such things. Because someone disagrees with you doesn't make them prideful, it means they have an opposing view that those involved can discuss. You ever heard the Scripture Iron Sharpens Iron? Try it sometimes instead of trying to belittle someone. You might find a bit of humility yourself. You can call me whatever, it's all good because I know I have a long way to go to be humble & reflect the full glory & grace of Christ. One thing I know about myself, I haven't arrived & until they bury me - be it in a pine box, a hole in a mountain or scatter ashes, I still won't have arrived. Your argument is null & void because it holds as much water as a sieve. If you TRULY want to share the gospel, maybe you need to focus on the lost instead of coming at those who are in Christ.

Here's an article which may be helpful to you.  It's too long to post here, but here's a link:

Hi Mary,

I wasn't aware that this was an argument, it's a discussion is it not?  Please study the four gospels that I gave you earlier.  There is more than one way to be buried.

I’m sorry Carla that you choose not to humble yourself and allow your pride to get in the way of the truth.  When you bury something, you dig a hole and throw it in the hole.  This is not what happened after Jesus was crucified.  I’m truly sorry that you like to argue.  It saddens me.  I like to soul win for Jesus and do not care to edify myself.

Hi Mary,

I was responding to your comment that Jesus was never buried.  That is incorrect.

You are correct however in saying Jesus offers salvation to everyone thru faith.  We must repent and believe the gospel.

Blessings, Carla
