Freedom Stealers

This will most likley be short and sweet I have been reading alot lately about surprising faithfulness and what keeps popping out at me and what really gets my blood boiling is what I call freedom stealers, you know those people who always continue to knock you down before you can even stand up. Well, as a once famous cartoon said "I have taken all I can stands and I can't stands no more."(Popeye)

I would like to talk to you about those who wan't to take away your freedom. Of course, Satan wants to do this, but I'm talking about other Christians out there. Yes I've said it.

But listen please, we have to talk-all of us. We need to get the first thing---the gospel--straight,or we are going to kill off one another. In some small form I'm trying to stop the carnage , and I don't wan't you to keep shooting.

It's happend so many times ,new Christians come to our family all exicted about what they have learned their newfound freedom and happiness. Then we tell the new Christians now that Jesus has given them something wonderful and new, now you need to know a few things. Then we put a saddle on that horse and ride it until death.. And then when the new Christians try to get out from under the burden of rules, regulations, and rightousness, we shame them into continuing.

This made Jesus angry. He said of them "They tie up heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on people's shoulders..."(Mat 23:4,15)

We've all played this freedom robber role, and therefore none of us can judge others. In fact, I believe that we show our depravity less by the bad stuff we do then by our reversion to pharisaism. It isn't our sin that is so bad( Jesus fixed that on the cross), but our stiffness. There's something about religion that can make you cold, critical , and mean. It's a tendacy we have to fight all the time.

Joe-Gil,

Thanks for the good reminder. The Lord has been speaking to me about this lately.

Galatians 3:1-4

Oh, foolish Galatians! What magician has cast an evil spell on you? For you used to see the meaning of Jesus Christ's death as clearly as though I had shown you a signboard with a picture of Christ dying on the cross. Let me ask you this one question: Did you receive the Holy Spirit by keeping the law? Of course not, for the Holy Spirit came upon you only after you believed the message you heard about Christ. Have you lost your senses? After starting your Christian lives in the Spirit, why are you now trying to become perfect by your own human effort?
