All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

BE PARTICULAR IN ALL YOU DO, DESIRE GOODNESS ALONE.

“Whatever is true, whatever is honest, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is kind, if there is any virtue, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on these things.” (Philippians 4:8, NIV)

What you think about determines the quality and direction of your life. Naturally, people who think positive, uplifting thoughts have happier, healthier, longer lives. They are less stressed, more vibrant and enjoy better sleep. That’s why the scripture encourages us to think on good things — things that are true, noble and lovely. Some translations say to “fix your mind” on them. When you fix your mind on noble things, you close the door to the negative voices and open your heart to allow God to work in your life.

Choose today to fix your mind on good things. Do whatever you need to in order to keep those good thoughts before you. Write them on note cards and put them in a place where you can see them. Confess God’s promises over your life and declare His blessing on a daily basis. As you fix your mind on the goodness of God, you will rise higher in every area of your life. You will be filled with His peace and victory, and you’ll see every dream and desire in your heart come to pass.

A Prayer for Today

Father in heaven, I choose to fix my mind on noble things. I choose thoughts of peace and victory. Fill my heart with Your goodness that I may glorify You in everything I do in Jesus’ name. Amen.

The term Positive Thinking was coined by Napoleon Hill in his book Think and Grow Rich in 1937. He drives the point home by sharing how important positive thinking relates to success. Please note that this success isn’t the type you find in Christ. It’s the success you find in this world – Prosperity.

In the latter part of the 20th century, Napoleon's suggestions took hold like glue to paper. This philosophy then made its way into the church and affected the way certain portions of the Bible have been interpreted. The Word of Faith movement got ahold of the phrase & the idea. They grabbed it as if it had the breath of life in it, they snuggled right up next to it & fed it to their flocks dripping with honey.  Unfortunately, that flock doesn’t seek the deeper things in Christ so they assume the man in authority has to be right. However, we know where honey comes from. If you try take this golden natural sweetener, you will get stung. That’s exactly what this term is – The Stinger.

Positive thinking is psychological mind game that undermines the authoritative Word of God and attempts to put ribbons & bows on the term & concept so that once again, Satan comes at the children of God with his lies. It's a concept that is aimed at worldly success. Satan's minions have taken this term, twisted it into the Scriptures to make it appear as if the Word is saying the same thing & have fed it to the men who he knows will eat it alive. And they do & feed it to millions. Unfortunately, they are feeding the people poison & it is up to them whether or not they partake of it.

The concept of positive thinking is all about self. It says You put those thoughts in Your mind so Your life will be wonderful. It's all about what You do & not about what the Father does. Think about it, when Christ was in the Garden of Gethsemane crying tears of blood & praying that the cross would not be in His future, how positive was that? When John the Baptist sent his disciples to ask Jesus if He was the One, is that a questions of a positive mind? Absolutely not. He wanted to keep his head. On the cross. when Jesus looked to the Father & said Abba, Father, why have You forsaken Me? Was those positive words? And if He did happen to have positive thoughts during this time, would He have not been crucified since being in the positive frame of mind means victory, life, health, no stress?

As a child of God, the minute I chose to accept the Savior, that very split second, I won the victory. I rose higher because of His sacrifice. I'm so high that I'm already in the heaven-lies. So, whether or not I think positive has nothing to do with victory, peace, or rising to any position.

Let's compare this term with faith. They are trying to confuse this positive thinking term with the word faith. Faith in God doesn't really care what comes or goes or what is or what is not, for faith in God is ultimate contentment regardless of the circumstances. Faith does not need positive reports nor does it have to be the winner every time because faith in God sees the ultimate end - What will positive thinkers do in the end?

Positive thinking is trusting in something that is not necessarily going to come to pass. The major difference between faith in God and positive thinking is that Faith is not something we think about, it is a position we stand in In Christ. Positive thinking requires just what it says....thinking. Faith is me surrendering myself to Him.

Positive thinking needs not to surrender to anyone. It's a self thing. It is something that appeases the mind in that moment but once you get weak within yourself or are faced with the truth, where you put your strength is no longer there.

The scripture here is used out of context & twisted into a pretty red box & sounds incredible enough that you want to hang on to it tightly. However, you are being deceived & ripped off. Satan came to steal, kill & destroy. He is known as the deceiver & the father of lies for a reason. The positive thing about this however - and yes it was meant to be a pun - is that we belong to Christ & even if we step off the path to follow false doctrine, the path is still right there in front of us. It's a simple thing to get back on.
