The Exponential Expansion of Confusion

The Exponential Expansion of Confusion

It is interesting that in our society today where man professes to have greater knowledge than any time in history we have more confusion regarding God and what His Word says. (Some may point to the Dark Ages, but there the people were ignorant of the Word of God and led by only a few leaders of which many were corrupt.) This confusion in my opinion has increased over time as…

An excellent read about God's holiness.

I am currently reading A.W. Pinks book entitled "The Attributes of God" and read the chapter on God's holiness this afternoon. I felt it was worth sharing, so here is the link if any are interested:

Finite Mind

Food for thought:

Too often in our finite minds we tend to want to find a single truth that is black or white. When we study Scripture we must understand that often there are several truths that work together at the same time and our often beyond our ability to fully comprehend.

Some examples:

Jesus: Fully God and Fully Human.

God is Sovereign and man has freewill (liberty)

Sanctification: Completed at new birth (positional) and yet we grow…

Out to Pastor: A wonderful chocolate fantasy

A wonderful chocolate fantasy

Dr. James L. Snyder

Within the confines of our blissful domicile, an ongoing controversy has all but come to an end. I like it when things are solved and I happen to be right. This time I was right. After all, if it is on TV it must…

Out to Pastor: In praise of crazy

In praise of crazy

Dr. James L. Snyder

I made the mistake the other night of complaining out loud. It is one thing to complain under your breath so that nobody hears you or knows what you are complaining about. But when you complain out loud, then you run the…

Out to Pastor: To be PC or not to be PC, that is the confusion

To be PC or not to be PC, that is the confusion

Dr. James L. Snyder

I have long ago given up trying to keep up with the Joneses, and not just because they have moved away. I have a hard enough time trying to keep up with myself, let alone trying to figure out…

Day of Heaven Upon Earth

“Watch and pray” (Matt. 26:41)

We need to watch for prayers as well as for the answers to our prayers. It needs as much…

Will you be PC in 2014?

Now, when I say PC let me be clear about what I mean.

  • I am not talking about being Politically Correct. Politically Correct means to be more like the world and in step with the world so that we do not rock the boat. Christians are supposed to be different.
  • I am not talking about becoming a Paroled Convict (little humor please). I sure hope that is not the case for me for 2014, but if arrested being paroled is not a bad thing…

Finding the Finish Line

Finding the Finish Line

Every life is like a marathon. There is a beginning and an end with markers along the way. A good marathon runner will not begin the race looking 41.3 kilometers down the road. He will strive to successfully make it to the first marker and then the next until the race is completed. His race is a bunch of shorter races. When each goal has been achieved he…

How God Sees You

How God Sees You

March 28, 2007

Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. (Colossians 3:12-14 NIV)

We find powerful words of encouragement in…

FORMULA OR FAITH

FORMULA OR FAITH

By John Stumbo

Editor’s Note: The following is adapted from An Honest Look at a Mysterious Journey by John Stumbo, the story of his battle with a rare illness that nearly cost him his life.

My understanding of the ways God works was again put to the test one night in late May [2009]. The national conference of our denomination—a couple thousand believing people—was gathered in Louisville, Kentucky. As has been the custom for probably a century,…

The Precious Blood of Christ – Charles H. Spurgeon

The Precious Blood of Christ – Charles H. Spurgeon

From the sermon “The Precious Blood of Christ”

The precious blood of Christ has a REDEEMING POWER. It redeems from

the law. We were all under the law which says, “This do, and live.” We

were slaves to it: Christ has paid the ransom price, and the law is no longer

our tyrant master. We are entirely free from it. The law had a dreadful

curse; it threatened that whosoever…

Staying Focused on Jesus and Overcoming Life Struggles

There are four things that I recommend for us to be involved in regularly. These four help to strengthen us when things are going well and help us overcome when things are difficult or God feels far away. These four are 1) Read the Word 2) Prayer 3) Positive Christian Fellowship 4) An Accountability Partner or Group.

1) The Word: When times are tough I like to read Colossians and 1 John. They inspire me, pick me up and help me to see past my current storm, which will pass.

2)…
