To trust in Jesus is sometimes a very hard thing to do.

The Lord blessed us with exciting weather, plenty of food and warmth, and good spirits last week. Last Sunday, I had no idea this week would bring the worst ice storm in Oklahoma's recorded history, leaving hundreds of thousands without power for days and days (some still don't have it back on). Both the trinity and baptism have been great dividing doctrines for Christians and many have died trying to prove one another wrong. It is good to get to understand that this displeases God who calls us to salvation through the blood by Grace and Faith.

Pray for me. I need strength & patience this weekend. You see, I am a country boy. I am at home out in the sticks cutting firewood , bouncing around on my tractor clearing trails, or just sitting and watching the habits of the varied wildlife that roam our hills.....But, this weekend, I will have to brave the 6-lanes, the frantic "lane switching" of the hurried city dwellers, and the throngs of "stampeding consumer hoards" to take my wife shopping in the big city.

Yesterday was Sunday and I thought: "I don't really need to go to church . . . I'll just 'keep the Sabboth' at home." Then I remembered that so many places in the New Testament talk about us Christians as being the church, and the church-this-and-that. I think that whenever I have a thought that seems not quite to be in accord with my Christ-mind, maybe I should consider if that thought was influenced by the 'powers in the air'. I am having trouble keeping my photo on my profile. I can load the picture in, click on done and save but the next time I log on, the photo is gone. I just tried it again and the photo was there, noticed my birth date was gone so went in to fix that, after I saved that change, the photo was gone again. This has happened several times. With respect to the broken relationship between my daughter and myself, I found some words that spoke to my soul this morning. It is from: The Unchained Soul by Calvin Miller. Here it is:"Two sentences must remain forever linked: God, I am not able; and Christ is Lord. How often I have seen these sentences of our insufficiency and his all-sufficiency follow hard upon the other." I confess that this is TRUE and Christ is Lord, the great Healer of all that is broken. Hello, my Christian friends, out there - that I have yet to meet. This is a time of great adversity for me. I am really 'stuck' in self-absorption and fear. My daughter has unforgiveness in her heart to the point that she doesn't want me to see my 4.5 year old grandson. What is most comforting at this time is that I join in compassion for all the mothers and grandmothers who have seemingly lost a reciprocal love connection with the people we love the most. My balm is to 'let go and let God'.

Although I have never lived outside of the African continent I am excited that the Lord has chosen me to live and take part in this exciting time in our countries history. There has been a lot of negative publicity on crime etc. in this country but the Lord has mighty plans for South Africa and I believe we will be the shining light to the rest of Africa.

South Africa is the only African country to have a transition from a white to a majority government without a civil war. Although…

First, I am not quite familiar with this site, so please bear with me. Second, I was born and grew up in New York City and later Newport News, Va. I am a disabled Veteran from the U.S. Army, I served for the better part of 10 years. I invited Jesus to forgive my sins in Taegu. South Korea in May 1977. I'll add a photo, perhaps one of me teaching in college. Next spring semester is going to be interesting. Will be busy in Spo9 teaching Philosophy, I love it!
