DISPARAGEMENT

From My Perspective - - - -

One of the cruelest forms of insult is disparagement. It’s a word that means: “To speak of in a slighting or disrespectful way; belittle. To reduce in esteem or rank….the act of speaking contemptuously of…” There are sundry illustrations of this type of verbalization and/or body language. Most recently, it began occurring when a man named Joe 'the Plumber' Wurzelbacher attended a Senator Obama Rally. He asked a question of The Senator regarding his plan…

It is wonderful to let God work through you...

Today I placed a smile on the face of my best friend of 17 years. She means alot to me. We had lost touch for a few years, and only recently found one another again. The best part of the whole thing is that while we were apart we both found God and invited Him into our hearts and life. I believe that God placed us back into each others life for a purpose. Her birthday is going to be on the 29th. So, I got her nails done for her, because she has been wanting them done for some… Continue

Today Is a New Day!

So often I stumble and tumble with the devil and his deception. I have scriptures that I cling to for these moments. What amazes me most is not just that God shows such mercy, but that His mercy is new EVERY morning. So no matter how much today does not go as planned I have tomorrow to begin again. For scripture says ""The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end. They are new every morning, great is Your faithfulness O God!" (Lamentations 3:22-23) I am ever… Continue

What's Up With Her?

There comes a time in every woman's life when she has to take a close look at herself. Not at her circumstance, not at what she did, not how unfair life is, or not at whom made you do it. She has to just look at herself in all her glory and imperfection.

Have you ever admired a woman who has been through changes in her life? Or have you made up in your mind that she is just messed up. Before you make this mistake, take a closer look. A woman who has endured the most unusual life is… Continue

Prayer

I want to ask you a question or maybe two: Do you believe in prayer? Do you pray? Do you believe your prayers are really making a difference? Think about it: Deep in your heart, do you ever wonder if God is hearing you when you pray? When you finish praying, are you convinced that your prayers have accomplished something? Are you satisfied with your prayer life? Do you really know how to pray? Are you longing for a deeper, richer, more dynamic relationship with God through prayer?

I… Continue

Jesus the True Vine

"I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinegrower. He removes every branch in me that bears no fruit. Every branch that bears fruit he prunes to make it bear more fruit. You have already been cleansed by the word that I have spoken to you. Abide in me as I abide in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in me. I am the vine, you are the branches. Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit, because apart from… Continue

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Breast Cancer

Breast cancer is the most common malignancy in women and the second leading cause of cancer death (exceeded by lung cancer in 1985). Breast cancer is three times more common than all gynecologic malignancies put together. The incidence of breast cancer has been increasing steadily from an incidence of 1:20 in 1960 to 1:7 women today. The American Cancer Society estimates that 211,000 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed this year and 43,300 patients will die from the disease.… Continue

The Secret

One day, one friend asked another,

'How is it that you are always so happy?

You have so much energy,

and you never seem to get down.'

....

With her eyes smiling, she said,

'I know the Secret!'

'What secret is that?'

To which she replied,

'I'll tell you all about it,

but you have to promise to

share the Secret with others.'

....

'The Secret is this:

I have learned there is little I can do

in my life that will… Continue

"What is Politics?"

A little boy goes to his dad and asks,

Dad says, "Well son, let me try to explain it this way:

I am the head of the family, so call me The President.

Your mother is the administrator of the money, so we call her the Government.

We are here to take care of your needs, so we will call you the People.

The nanny, we will consider her the Working Class.

And your baby brother, we will call him the… Continue

Proverbs 3:3

Proverbs 3:3 "Let not mercy and truth forsake you; Bind them around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart…"

One of the most important secrets of successful communication is the balance of truth (honesty) and mercy (sensitivity). In the book of Proverbs, Solomon tells us not to forsake them and even to "bind them" around our necks. That means that every word originating in our vocal cords and coming out of our mouths should reverberate with both truth and… Continue

Mark 9:16-32

Mark 9:16-32

16) And he asked them, " What are you discussing with them?" 17) And one of the crowd answered him, "Teacher, I brought my son to you, for he has a dumb spirit; 18) and wherever it seizes him, it dashes him down; and he foams and grinds his teeth and becomes rigid; and I asked your disciples to cast it out, and they were not able." 19) And he answered them, " O faithless generation, how long am I to be with you? How long am I to bear with you? Bring him to me." 20) And they… Continue

Is it wrong?

Even though the Bible does not say anything about pornography, specifically, pornography is still wrong. Pornography deals with photography and/or illicit paintings and/or cartoons that are designed to arouse sexual passions in the viewer. It is certainly possible that at the time when the Bible was written that there were various art forms that depicted sexually explicit things. But apparently this phenomenon was not sufficiently prevalent enough for the subject to be addressed in the Bible.… Continue

The Three Most Difficult Things To Say

Did you know that the three most difficult things to say are:

I love you, Sorry, and Help me.

..

Did you know that when you help someone, the help is returned in two-fold?

..

Did you know that you can make your dreams come true, like falling in love, becoming rich, staying healthy, if you ask for it by faith, and if you really believe, you'd be surprised by what you could do.

..

But, don't believe everything I tell you, until you try it for yourself , if you… Continue

Things That Can Aggrevate The Chruch

1. People who over use the tambourine:

Everybody isn't meant to beat it. When you don't do it right, it is truly aggravating and a nuisance. Keep still and sing like everybody else during the slow songs.

2. People who fake the spirit:

Just because your friend caught it don't mean you did too. If you are running around the church and you stop out of breath after going only half way around, we know you haven't been touched. SIT DOWN!!!

3. People who… Continue

Grown women ignore the bad guys . Girls make you come home. Grown women make you want to come home. Girls le ave their schedule wide-open and wait for a guy… Continue

LEADERSHIP

From My Perspective - - -

At different times, an important and thought-provoking question is posed: “How many great leaders does one know?” What traits and qualities does one possess and exude that would cause another to both sacrifice and willingly follow? This is far different from the child’s game most have played called: “Follow The Leader.” That exercise would include all kinds of unpredictable and misdirected activity. “Leadership” had little or nothing to do with the course…

WINNER OR LOSER

From My Perspective - - -

It is getting to a point where the idea of “Winner” or “Loser” becomes a moot point. It appears that the people of our nation are the Losers – regardless of who the political “Winner” may be. There is a smooth-talking and articulate candidate versus a stumbling and inarticulate one. If the merits of a Presidency were determined by rhetorical skill, there would be only one obvious choice. However, the substance of what one states, and the content of one’s…

By Hook Or By Crook

From My Perspective - - -

A trite expression that has often been used and heard is: “By hook or by crook!” In the midst of suggested and/or possible meaning, this phrase generally suggests: “By any means possible – fair or foul.” This tactic is becoming more obvious in the current political campaigns. It is an “anything goes” approach from Voter Registration matters, to denigration of one’s family and background, to voter registration fraud, etc. Now we are returning to yesteryear…
