Lucknow: Suspected Bajrang Dal activists tonsured the head of a youth in Jalaun district of Uttar Pradesh and paraded him on a donkey for four hours on Saturday after accusing him of being involved in conversions.

Paraded through a half-kilometre stretch that includes two police outposts, Awadhesh Kumar was finally rescued when superintendent of police N. Kolanchi reached the spot with a large force around 10pm.

Kolanchi told The Telegraph that five Bajrang Dal members and the barber hired to shave Awadhesh’s head had been arrested.

Awadhesh has denied that he had forced anyone to convert and has filed an FIR against 25 Bajrang Dal members and about 200 unidentified men.

“I have been practising Christianity for the last few years. But I have never insisted on converting anybody. Sangam Jatav, who is close to Bajrang Dal leaders, wanted to accompany me to Varanasi. But he cooked up a story against me after returning from there,” the 35-year-old barber was quoted as having told the police.

Jatav, who has lodged a counter FIR, has alleged that Awadhesh and some of his friends “promised me a job and financial help if I agreed to visit Varanasi and meet some of their associates”.

“But on reaching there, they took me to a church and forced me to walk on the posters of Hindu gods and goddesses and eat beef,” the 30-year-old said, adding that there were six persons in the church at that time and they declared that he had been converted to Christianity because he had eaten beef.

The incident happened a month ago, Jatav said. He claimed he had approached the police soon after returning from Varanasi but was denied an audience. “I was upset and decided to inform the Bajrang Dal leaders,” he said.

Police sources said they had received no such complaint.

Awadhesh has complained in his FIR that Akhilesh Diha, the Bajrang Dal convener of Jalaun, and his aides kidnapped him from his house, thrashed him mercilessly, tonsured his head and paraded him in the village on a donkey.

A witness said that addressing a gathering during the procession, Diha had alleged that Awadhesh had converted many Dalits to Christianity in the past.

“Diha and his other aides are absconding. The police are conducting raids to arrest them,” superintendent of police Kolanchi said.

The police are also probing the charge that Awadhesh was forcing conversions.

Located 220km from Lucknow along NH25, Jalaun district borders Bhind in Madhya Pradesh. It is a communally sensitive place, with even a minor incident elsewhere leading to unrest here. There are 41 big temples in Jalaun town, compared to only 33 schools and colleges.

The Bajrang Dal runs a Ghar Wapsi (reconversion to Hinduism) programme here.

We believe that the Memorial and Communion supper instituted by our Lord and Savor

Jesus Christ, is essentially a New Testament Sacrament , declarative of His sacrificial death , through the merits of which believers have life and salvation and promise of all spiritual blessings

in Christ.

It is distinctively for those who are prepared for reverent appreciation of its significance

and by it they show forth the Lord's death till He comes again . Being the communion feast , only those who have faith in Christ and love for the saints should be called to participate therein( I Corinthians 11 : 23-- 28) So this is very important part of worship service.

---------------------------------------------

Our Faith -- Part-15-- The Church

We believe that the church , ekklesia , is composed of the "called out" people who have separated themselves from the world , and have a living faith in Christ as their personal savor. Her mission is the proclamation of the full gospel , everywhere.

We believe that all regenerated persons , whose names are written in

heaven , are members of the true Church of God (Acts 2 :47; 20 : 28 ; II Corinthians 6 : 17).

-----------------------------------------------------

Our Faith-- Part 16-- Divine Healing

We believe in Biblical teaching of the Christian privilege of divine healing and urge our people to seek to offer the prayer of faith for the healing of the sick (Matthew 8 :18, 17; James 5 : 14- 16). Providential means and agencies when deemed necessary should not be refused.

Our Faith - Resurrection, Judgement and Destiny

We believe in the resurrection of the dead ; that the bodies both of the just and unjust shall be raised to life and united with their spirits, "... they that have done good unto resurrection of life ; and they that have done evil unto the resurrection of damnation " (John 5: 28, 29)
We believe in future judgement in which every man shall appear before God to be judged according to his deeds in this life ( II Cointhians 5 : 10 )
We believe in future judgement in which every man shall appear before God to be judged according to his deeds in this life ( II Cointhians 5 : 10 )
We believe that glorious and everlasting life is assured to all who savingly believe in and obediently follow Jesus Christ our Lord ; and that the finally impenitent shall suffer eternally in hell ( John 3 :16, Revelation 20: 5 )
Our Faith -- Baptism - Part - 13

We believe that the baptism a sacrament signifying the acceptance of the benefits of the atonement of Jesus Christ; that the outward sign of water is a symbol of the inward cleansing of the heart and life by the word and the Spirit of God and the blood of Christ, and that this sacrament should be administered to believers as declaratives of their faith in Christ ( Matthew 28:19, Act 2 :38, Roman 6 : 3, 4 ) # You can see more Bible verses in my Blog No. 1.
Believing that immersion of believers is a scriptural mode of baptism , we generally administer this sacrament in this manner and recommended to parents that they should bring their children for dedication rather than baptism, as soon after birth as is convenient .

to love of God with all their hearts and to walk in holy commandments blamelessly ( Ephesians 5 : 25 - 27,

Philippians 2:15 )

We believe that it is wrought by baptism or filling of the Holy spirit and comprehends in one experience of

We believe that repentance , which is sincere , and thorough change of mind in regard to sin involving a sense of personal guilt, a voluntary turning away from sin, and a making of restitution where possible , is demanded of all who have by act or purpose become sinners against God, that the spirit of God gives to all who who will repent the gracious help of penitence of heart and hope of mercy that they may believe unto pardon and spiritual life (John 16 :8, II Corinthians 7 :10 ).

Our Faith -- Part 9... Justification, Regeneration & Adoption
We believe that justification is that gracious and judicial act of God ,by which He grants full pardon all guilt and complete release from the penalty of sins committed , and acceptance as righteous , to all who receive Christ Jesus as Lord and saviour ( Roman 5:1 ) .

We believe that regeneration , or the new birth , is that gracious work of God where by the moral nature of the repentant believer is so changed that he becomes a " new creatures ( II Corinthians 5: 17 ) being " born of the spirit " ( John 3:6, 8 ) and capable of faith , love and obedience .

We believe that adoption is that gracious act of God by which the justified and regenerated believer is constituted a son of God ( John 1: 12 , Romans 8 : 15 ).

We believe that justification , regeneration and adoption are simultaneous in the experience of seekers after God , and are obtained upon the condition of faith preceded by repentance and to this state and work of grace the Holy Spirit bears witness.

Our Faith... Part 5... Original Sin

We believe that original sin , or depravity is that corruption of the nature of all the offspring of Adam by reason of which everyone is very far gone from original righteousness or the pure state of our our first parents at the time of their creation , is averse to God, is without spiritual life , and is inclined in evil and that continually ( Romans 3: 10-12, 23 ).

 Part 6... Atonement

We believe that Jesus Christ , by His sufferings, by the shedding of His own blood, and by His meritorious death on the cross ,made full atonement for all human sin (Hebrew 9 :13, 14, 26 )and that this atonement is the only ground of salvation ( Act 4: 12 ) ansd that is sufficient for every individual of Adam's race ( John 3: 16,Hebrew 2 :9 ) that the atonement is graciously efficacious to the salvation of the irresponsible and to children in innocency ( Roman 2 :15, 5:13 , Matthew 19: 13 - 15 ) but is efficacious to the salvation of those who reach the age of responsibility only when they repent and believe (Act 3: 19 ).

 Part 7... Free Will

We believe that the man's creation in God's likeness included ability to choose right and wrong, and that thus he was made morally responsible , that through the fall of Adam he became depraved so that he cannot now turn and prepare him self by his by his own natural strength and works to faith and calling upon God ( Genesis 6:5 ), but the grace of God through Jesus Christ is freely bestowed upon all men ,enabling all who will, to turn from sin to righteousness , believe on Jesus Christ for pardon and cleansing from sin , and follow goods works pleasing and acceptable in His sight ( I john 1: 4, 9, Romans 5 : 17, 18 ).

We believe that it is possible for a christian to fall from a state of grace ,and unless he be restored through repentance , will be hopelessly and eternally lost .

It is reported that Mark Twain once said in a flippant and cheeky way: "Only one thing is impossible for God: to find any sense in any copyright law on the planet." Of course nothing is impossible for God, but Mark Twain (a sceptic) made a point on the state of chaos produced by the greed of man.

Looking at the statements on Copyrights in Christian sites, there is a huge gamut of positions:

Some have no Copyright at all,

Other clearly state Copyfree, e.g. copy as you will,

Several show the Copyrigt symbol but allow posting their articles with due credits,

A number do not allow posting on other sites but welcome hyperlinks,

A few do not allow anything, almost implying that even looking at their articles will make you the worst criminal, ever.

We can clearly see, by these statement, that Mark Twain had a very good point here.

But what is the spirit of Copyright ? Basically it is the spirit of greed and covetousness, indeed the spirit of idolatry. (Col 3:5)

Copyright is intended as a legal way to protect one’s intellectual property. This imply, of course, that the thing being protected is truly property of those that copyright, for it is agreed by all that one cannot justly and legally copyright something that is not of his own. Who is the rightful owner, then? For example in the past slaves did not belong to themselves but to their master, and not only themselves, but also anything of theirs, including their wives and children and works. In our days if an employee invents anything or anything he does in relation to his employment, then that thing is property of the employer, e.g. the employee cannot copyright his invention.

What about you and me and everybody else? The Bible states that: "Know ye that the LORD he [is] God: [it is] he [that] hath made us, and not we ourselves; [we are] his people, and the sheep of his pasture." (Psa 100:3) In other words we are His property, and not only that, ALL we have, He gave it to us: …. And what do you have that you did not receive? And if you received [it], why do you boast as [if you] did not receive [it]?" (1Co 4:7) Clearly stating that: "But all things are of God, …. (2Co 5:18)

Consequently, even using the secular laws as our basis, have we the right to Copyright anything that is not ours?? Obviously NOT. Now the facts are that everything we have or have produced is not ours, indeed not even our very own life is ours, but God’s. Thus, are those that Copyright, actually sinning against God? Well, obviously yes, for the 8th commandment forbids stealing, and they, by Copyrighting, are appropriating for themselves what belongs to God. They are robbing God of His glory.

For example, should an article or book about the marvellous Salvation in Christ be Copyrighted and the broadcasting of its salvific message restricted by secular laws?? Surely we all know that the world is trying to do that, but we MUST not, for our Lord told us: "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:" (Mat 28:19), and yet many defend their purported property with drawn sword.

Is this the guiding principle in the Kingdom of God? Methinks not. And not only they do Copyright their supposed own intellectual properties, but even the Bible. The Word of God was given freely to mankind for the knowledge of Christ and His marvellous Salvation but many limit its distribution by Copyrighting. Indeed our Lord clearly told us: freely ye received, freely give." (Mat 10:8). Are we obeying this command by copyrighting His Word? Obviously NOT.

How can any Christian possible engages in Copyrighting the Bible is a mystery to me and I fear a heavy offence to God. An interesting thought here; surely we are all agreed that God Himself has The FULL "Copyright" on His own Word, so anyone who prints a Bible placing on it his own acerbic Copyright statement, is he not actually breaking the very Copyright laws that he so eagerly defends and implements?? Indeed, are these zealots actually paying royalties to God?

No use saying that their Copyright refers only to the translation, for the Bible is not like any other book, but the Book of God, and not a business transaction. It is High time Christian preachers should instruct their people not to use Copyrighted Bibles.

A typical Bible copyright statement is the following:

"The goal of the copyright is to prevent others from profiting from the work that IBS, Nelson or other translators have done. As we live in a society based on capitalism and trade, the copyright law is what allows these companies to continue to do the work they do."

Does this strike you as a Christian statement? Are they involved in Christian activities? Where is a statement about spreading the WORD? Are they trusting God or the world? Methinks this is not the language of the Kingdom, but that of the world. Are Bibles to be treated like any other secular books? And, YES, they admit to be working under a secular system.

If we for a moment reason after the manner of men we can consider the situation in two ways:

The material is entirely from man’s mind: then man can act after the manner of man and can put barring limits on his own creation, e.g., Copyright.

But if the material is from the Lord: In that case man would sin against the Lord if he were to copyright His Material. Also he would sin by disobeying the command to share freely what he has received freely, and all he has, he has received freely.

Indeed, we know for sure that all we are and all we have has been received from the Lord, we know that for the Bible tells us so, by asking us a very clear and pertinent question: And what do you have that you did not receive? Therefore the first option is wrong, and we, His children are not to do so.

To be sure, what the Lord has given us is ours to use and to enjoy, but on the understanding that it really does not belong to us, it is a temporary gift to us that nobody should take it away (except Him, the rightful owner), but with the stipulation that we are to share what we have received freely, and that is ALL. If we are branding His gifts with our own mark we are trespassing and definitely sinning.

But I hear a worried voice: "what about if other men take advantage of my work?". Well we have already stated that there is nothing of ours: your abilities, your intellect, your brains, and surely your very own life, where did you get it from?". Can you say that you made them yourself?? Methinks NOT. ALL you have you received from The Lord, absolutely ALL, nothing excluded. So, dear friend, to which claim you can put a stake to?? And will not our Master defend His propriety? Are you taking things in your hand?

Did not our Master say: "31 Therefore do not be anxious, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, With what shall we be clothed? 32 For the nations seek after all these things. For your heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you." (Mat 6:31-33)

If God cares enough for little sparrows, would He not look after us all the more? Are we not sinning in not trusting Him? Will he not protect what is His? Do we not believe that God is capable of doing what He has promised? "Is anything too difficult for Jehovah?" (Gen 18:14 LIT). Are we really seeking the Kingdom of God?

Today we do not trust God to look after us and follow the way of the nations for it is commonly accepted that copyright is the only right thing to do, when in fact it is also legal to permit free copying, i.e. the so called rights need not be invoked. The other perhaps more altruistic options are equally legal and moral, albeit the road less travelled.

Today’s norms are upheld as an ethical standard, because the church equates standard worldly business practices with Christian ethics. History shows, however, that the church in previous centuries, guided by courts with a more religious outlook, had a different approach, for in fact today’s standard business practices and Christian ethics are diametrically opposed.

But where did copyright started and what was the reason that motivated it?

The concept of copyright emerged in England in the sixteenth century from the bylaws of the guild then monopolising the country's publishing industry. The guild was granted a charter of incorporation by Queen Mary in 1556 and reorganised itself as the Company of Stationers of London. With official recognition of the Company's monopoly, its bylaws and concept of copyright also came gradually to be acknowledged as those of an official institute. The quasi-right known as Stationers' Copyright was based on royal prerogative or letter patent covering the entire publishing industry as an estate. This monopoly was assigned to its members as a virtual freehold interest.

Although the Stationers' Copyright was based on a prerogative which laid down three basic characteristics of Anglo-American copyright - namely that registration is indispensable for its protection, copyright was available not only to the author but also to purchasers, and it remains valid for a term that is a multiple of seven years - it gave no consideration whatsoever to the author's right. Eventually England enacted the world's first copyright law in 1710. This statute has long been considered a turning point in the history of copyright as it clearly recognised the author's presumed right.

So the bottom line that motivated the introduction of Copyright was the usual one: MONEY. For this reason the Word says apropos: "For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows." (1Ti 6:10)

The other reason for adoring the Copyright idea is of course PRIDE.

Pride in our own "creation" as if we did it ourselves. A good example of this is exemplified by Michelangelo. One of his many works was a statue representing the dead Christ laying on His mother’s lap. This statue is called "La Pieta" (made when he was only 21) is exposed for all to see, at the Vatican in Rome, as you enter S. Peter’s Basilica you will find it to the right. Well the story goes that after this most moving piece of sculpture was exposed to the public Michelangelo overheard someone attributing the statue to another sculptor. Full of passion during that very night he went with his chisel and carved his name (MICHELANGELO) across Mary’s chest (as a seat belt) so to tell everybody whose masterpiece it was. This can be seen even today.

If effect Michelangelo Copyrighted his work, and did not write on it "GLORY TO GOD" for having given him hands capable of such masterpieces, but he wrote his name. Why? For Pride and Glory, of course. This sense of pride is covetousness and the Bible says that covetousness is idolatry (Col 3:5). Indeed Michelangelo idolized his works and by all accounts it seems that he did not give too much glory to God for the gifts received.

Those who insist on Copyright are in fact saying: "I am the captain of my soul and I do what I want with what is mine". Truly in their mind they do away with God as the Sovereign Lord over their lives and live in Independence which is the single root of every sin. They are no different from those who took Communion indecorously and were severely chastised by Paul: "For when you take your food, everyone takes his meal before the other; and one has not enough food, and another is the worse for drink." (1Co 11:21)

IN CONCLUSION

Having analyzed the matter carefully and keeping in mind the rules of the Kingdom, we conclude:

All that we have belongs to God and not to ourselves,

All we have received is a free gift from the Lord for us to enjoy and to manage carefully, always bringing honour to Him as the rightful owner,

All that we do is the Lord’s for we can do anything only because He gives us the ability to do it, "….. For apart from Me you are not able to do anything." (Joh 15:5)

All that we have received is to be shared with others freely as our Lord commands,

If other do not share what they have received and limit or bar their use by imposing man’s laws on that, we are not to force them to share, or take it from them. We should, of course, always ask for permission of use.

The Lord will look after His property as He pleases, and All is His,

We are to continually glorify and recognize Him with our actions, for All He is and for All He gives.

THE SEVEN LAST SAYINGS
OF CHRIST ON THE CROSS

In 2 Corinthians 10:5 the Apostle Paul writes the following about our calling and about our spiritual battle: “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.”

This is a tough calling that is asked of us to bring EVERY thought into the obedience of Christ. When we are in great physical or emotional pain, stressed out or emotionally we are all over the place it is very easy to simply react however we feel like it at the time and not be willing to discipline our reactions in a godly way. Our conscience may even prod us to react better but sometimes we just don't care and decide to do as we feel like at the time.

When our pain and stress levels are low it is much easier to live God's way. The real test comes when our pain and our stress levels are high. In times like these it is good to remember our ultimate example of how to react during such times of pain and stress.

Jesus Christ's example on the cross provides great inspiration to encourage all of us to control and think through our reactions to great emotional and physical pain. A friend of mine after seeing the controversial Mel Gibson movie “The Passion of the Christ” made a very interesting comment after seeing that movie. He said, after seeing the full enormity of what Christ must have went through, his respect and admiration for Christ's discipline to react to all of that in such a godly way went through the roof. This is what I'd like to focus on in this article.

I'd like to now take us back in time to this dramatic day in history and look at the last few sayings of Christ on the cross. There are seven sayings of Christ on the cross that are recorded for us in the gospels. It's interesting to note that all seven of these have a different theme. They reveal Jesus' innermost feelings as He poured out His life for us and provide a powerful example of how we, too, should react in times of great physical and emotional pain.

1] [THEME – FORGIVENESS] "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing" (Luke 23:34).

Jesus, shortly after He was nailed to the cross prayed, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing". Instead of being consumed with his own pain and misery, Jesus asked forgiveness for those responsible for the evil done to Him and by extension, all who ignorantly go the way of sin.

Now what did Christ mean when He said “for they do not know what they do”? These hardened Roman soldiers didn't crucify Christ accidentally so what did He mean that they didn't know what they were doing?

We have a clue over in Hebrews 12:2 where it says “Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross”. It says His mind was totally fixed on the joy that was set before Him. It was the burning vision of victory for mankind He was about to complete and His coming Kingdom that kept Him going at this time.

It is also this vision that helps us to understand what Christ meant when He said that they did not know what they were doing? He may well have projected His mind forward in time to when these soldiers will be resurrected and the full magnitude of what they had done to their Saviour will hit them. At that time they will probably deeply regret being involved in Christ's murder.

When we are deeply hurt by others it helps that we also have this kind of vision and project our mind forward to when those who hurt us will come to their senses and repent of their actions. It also helps to remember that everyone is a potential son or daughter of God.

2] [THEME – HOPE] "I tell you the truth today you will be with me in paradise" (Luke 23:43).

Both of the thieves who were crucified with Christ, had early on joined bystanders in mocking Jesus (Mark 15:32). Luke tells us in Luke 24:39, "One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: 'Aren't you the Christ? Save yourself and us!'". This man wanted only escape from his pain. This criminal had no desire to know his Saviour and repent of his sins but a miraculous change occurred in the other criminal. He came to believe. He, too, had mocked Jesus earlier, but now he rebuked the other criminal.

We are not told of any other conversation between this second criminal and Jesus. Perhaps only Jesus' example and prayer, which he overheard, moved him deeply. He said, "Lord, remember me when you come into your kingdom" (Luke 23:42). Jesus replied by offering him hope for the future: "I tell you the truth today you will be with me in paradise" (Luke 23:43).

By paradise did Christ mean that this criminal would go straight to heaven? Now, we know that wasn't the case. What Jesus did know was that in the moment after this criminal's legs were broken and he died that he would come up in presumably the second resurrection which would seem like the same day to him. At that time the earth would have been transformed into a paradise and he will have his chance to receive salvation.

Again we see the incredible vision that He had on the cross. He just kept focusing ahead on the “joy that was set before Him” as it says in Hebrews 12:2. This kind of vision, this kind of thinking way ahead to the end result can help us to keep things in perspective and to encourage others when we, too, are suffering and it can help us to temper our responses in a godly way.

3] [THEME – CARE] “He said to His mother, 'Woman, behold your son!' Then He said to the disciple, 'Behold your mother!'” (John 19:26-27).

We read in John 19:26-27: "When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom He loved standing nearby, He said to His mother, 'Woman, behold your son!' Then He said to the disciple, 'Behold your mother! From that time on, this disciple took her into his home".

Now Jesus' mother Mary had four other sons - James, Joses, Simon and Judas. One might naturally think that one of them would probably be physically caring for Mary. John 7:5 says that during His ministry Jesus' brothers did not believe in Him. Paul notes in 1 Corinthians 15:7 that He appeared to His brother James after His resurrection and this is probably when he and his brothers began to believe as they are with Mary and the apostles in Acts 1:14 when a replacement is chosen for Judas. James became the leader of the Jerusalem church while Judas or Jude later wrote the epistle of Jude.

What need of Mary's did Jesus perceive on the cross that wasn't being met here by His brothers? That John took Mary into his home implies a physical need. Whether it was a physical or perhaps a spiritual need that wasn't being met Jesus saw to it that His disciple John would take care of His mother.

Again, instead of being consumed with his own pain and misery, Jesus cared for those around Him. I remember when I was a teenager going for a visit to our elder, Jack Clune's sister in the nursing home where Mr Clune is now. Even though she suffered terribly from emphysema I would be absolutely amazed by how she'd be constantly be thinking about others and how they were doing compared to the carnal teenager that I was at the time.

4] [THEME – LONELINESS] "'Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?' - which means, 'My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"' (Matthew 27:46; Mark 15:34).

Jesus here then cried out, "'Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?' - which means, 'My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"' (Matthew 27:46; Mark 15:34).

The Apostle Paul perhaps referred to this moment when he wrote in 2 Corinthians 5:21: “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” At this moment the Father placed on Him the sins of humanity to be paid as He was about to die. Isaiah 59:2states that our sins separate us from God.

During his entire adult life, Jesus had an intimate and vibrant relationship with God as His Father. Suddenly, while suffering the agony and fatigue of crucifixion, Jesus could no longer feel that wonderful heavenly Presence. At this moment He could empathize with all of us when we feel separated from God because of our sins and guilt.

5] [THEME - SUFFERING] “I am thirsty” (John 19:28).

The time of final sacrifice was close. Jesus had endured and overcome the heat, pain, rejection and loneliness. He could have suffered and died in silence. Instead, unexpectedly, he asked for help. "Knowing that all was now completed, and so that the Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, 'I am thirsty"' (John 19:28).

Earlier He'd been offered the same drink but with added gall. He refused it as recorded in Matthew 27:34.Why refuse it earlier and now take a drink at the moment of death? “With the Word Bible Commentary” makes this comment about the vinegar mixed with gall: “The narcotic drink would have helped deaden the pain, but Jesus refused it. He drank the cup of suffering instead.” Instead of reaching for a comforter He was prepared to take the difficult but necessary path. When finally He had fully drank of the cup of suffering He then asked for a drink.

6] [THEME - TRIUMPH ]“It is finished” (John 19:30).

The sixth saying of Christ on the cross is one of triumph. John 19:30 says: "When he had received the drink, Jesus said, 'It is finished.' With that, He bowed His head and gave up his spirit".

Jesus' humility rings in his words. His was not a vain, I-showed-you attitude. He did not even say, "I did it" or “I did it My way” as Frank Sinatra used to sing. He claimed no credit. To the end, Jesus' mind was on the work He came to do. He triumphantly announced, for all to hear, "It is finished."

7] [THEME – REUNION] “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit” (Luke 23:46).

“Jesus called out with a loud voice, 'Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.' When he had said this, He breathed his last". He looked forward to finally being fully reunited with His Father. At that dramatic moment Jesus died for you and me and became the true Passover sacrifice for each and every one of us.

The way that John records his gospel, at first, gives the impression that Jesus died first before the soldier thrust his spear into Jesus' side which is how it is portrayed in “The Passion of the Christ”. In “The Passion” the soldiers suspect He is already dead and one of them thrusts him in the side to test that He is dead.

The original text of Matthew's gospel helps clear up the confusion of whether He died before or after the spear was thrust into Him. In Matthew 27:49, after He took the drink of vinegar, we read, “But the rest said, 'Let Him alone! Let us see if Elijah comes to save Him.'” Most Bible versions then go straight to verse 50which says that He cried out again and gave up His spirit.

Fred Coulter in his “A Harmony of the Gospels” writes, “The latter half of this verse, which begins with the words 'Then another took a spear…' has been omitted from the King James Version. However, a majority of ancient manuscripts contain this part of the verse; these manuscripts include the codex Vaticanus and Sinaiticus…Older translations which contain the complete verse are the Moffatt translation and the Fenton translation” (p. 304).

From the latter half of verse 49 it should read, “Then another took a spear and thrust it into His side and out came water and blood. And after crying out again with a loud voice, Jesus yielded up His spirit.”

In conclusion, it is a tough calling to bring EVERY thought into the obedience of Christ, especially when we are in great pain physically and emotionally. As we study the perfect caring example of Christ as He suffered on the cross leading up to the Passover season, it should be a great motivation to all of us to live and to react in a godly way at all times, both good and bad.

A man was sleeping at night in his cabin when suddenly his room filled with light, and God appeared. The Lord told the man he had work for him to do, and showed him a large rock in front of his cabin. The Lord explained that the man was to push against the rock with all his might.

So, this the man did, day after day.

For many years he toiled from sun up to sun down, his shoulders set squarely against the cold, massive surface of the unmoving rock, pushing with all of his might. Each night the man returned to his cabin sore and worn out, feeling that his whole day had been spent in vain.

Since the man was showing discouragement, the Adversary (Satan) decided to enter the picture by placing thoughts into the weary mind: "You have been pushing against that rock for a long time, and it hasn't moved."

Thus, he gave the man the impression that the task was impossible and that he was a failure. These thoughts discouraged and disheartened the man.

Satan said, "Why kill yourself over this? Just put in your time, giving just the minimum effort; and that will be good enough."

That's what the weary man planned to do, but decided to make it a matter of prayer and to take his troubled thoughts to the Lord. "Lord," he said, "I have labored long and hard in your service, putting all my strength to do that which you have asked. Yet, after all this time, I have not even budged that rock by half a millimeter. What is wrong? Why am I failing?"

The Lord responded compassionately, "My friend, when I asked you to serve Me and you accepted, I told you that your task was to push against the rock with all of your strength, which you have done. Never once did I mention to you that I expected you to move it. Your task was to push.

And now you come to Me with your strength spent, thinking that you have failed. But, is that really so? Look at yourself. Your arms are strong and muscled, your back sinewy and brown; your hands are callused from constant pressure, your legs have become massive and hard. Through opposition you have grown much, and your abilities now surpass that which you used to have. True, you haven't moved the rock. But your calling was to be obedient and to push and to exercise your faith and trust in My wisdom. That you have done. Now I, my friend, will move the rock."

At times, when we hear a word from God, we tend to use our own intellect to decipher what He wants, when actually what God wants is just a simple obedience and faith in Him. By all means, exercise the faith that moves mountains, but know that it is still God who moves mountains.

When everything seems to go wrong . just P.U.S.H.!

When the job gets you down ... just P.U.S.H.!

When people don't react the way you think they should ... just P.U.S.H!

When your money is "gone" and the bills are due....just P.U.S.H!

When people just don't understand you, just P.U.S.H.

P= Pray
U= Until
S= Something
H= Happens

God is light. and in Him is no darkness at all....I John 1:5. And Jesus said to them, "A little longer the light is with you. Walk while you have the light , lest darkness overtake you, he who walks in darkness does not know where he is going. While you have the light believe in the light that you may become the sons of light." ..."I have come as a light in to the world ,that whoever believes in me should not abide in darkness... John 12 : 35, 36, 46. So in this Christmas accept Lord Jesus Christ in our heart so we may be sons of light. This is the foundation of our testimony ...and you are a chosen generation ,a royal priesthood , a holy nations , His own special people , that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness in to His marvelous light; Who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.I Peter 2:9, 10.

A minister passing through his church in the middle of the day, decided to pause by the altar and see who had come to pray.

Just then the back door opened, a man came down the aisle.

The minister frowned as he saw the man hadn't shaved in a while.

His shirt was kinda shabby and his coat was worn and frayed.

The man knelt, he bowed his head, then rose and walked away.

In the days that followed, each noon time came this chap,

Each time he knelt just for a moment, a lunch pail in his lap.

Well, the minister's suspicions grew, with robbery a main fear,

He decided to stop the man and ask him, "What are you doing here?"

The old man said, he worked down the road. Lunch was half an hour.

Lunchtime was his prayer time, for finding strength and power.

"I stay only moments, see, because the factory is so far away;

As I kneel here talking to the Lord, this is kinda what I say:

"I JUST CAME AGAIN TO TELL YOU, LORD, HOW HAPPY I'VE BEEN, SINCE WE FOUND EACH OTHER'S FRIENDSHIP AND YOU TOOK AWAY MY SIN.

DON'T KNOW MUCH OF HOW TO PRAY, BUT I THINK ABOUT YOU EVERYDAY. SO, JESUS, THIS IS JIM CHECKING IN TODAY."

The minister feeling foolish, told Jim, that was fine.

He told the man he was welcome to come and pray just anytime.

Time to go, Jim smiled, said "Thanks." He hurried to the door.

The minister knelt at the altar, he'd never done it before.

His cold heart melted, warmed with love, and met with Jesus there.

As the tears flowed, in his heart, he repeated old Jim's prayer:

"I JUST CAME AGAIN TO TELL YOU, LORD, HOW HAPPY I'VE BEEN, SINCE WE FOUND EACH OTHER'S FRIENDSHIP AND YOU TOOK AWAY MY SIN.

I DON'T KNOW MUCH OF HOW TO PRAY, BUT I THINK ABOUT YOU EVERYDAY. SO, JESUS, THIS IS ME CHECKING IN TODAY."

Past noon one day, the minister noticed that old Jim hadn't come.

As more days passed without Jim, he began to worry some.

At the factory, he asked about him, learning he was ill.

The hospital staff was worried, but he'd given them a thrill.

The week that Jim was with them, brought changes in the ward.

His smiles, a joy contagious. Changed people, were his reward.

The head nurse couldn't understand why Jim was so glad, when no flowers, calls or cards came, not a visitor he had.

The minister stayed by his bed, he voiced the nurse's concern:

No friends came to show they cared. He had nowhere to turn.

Looking surprised, old Jim spoke up and with a winsome smile; "the nurse is wrong, she couldn't know, that in here all the while everyday at noon He's here, a dear friend of mine, you see, He sits right down, takes my hand, leans over and says to me:

"I JUST CAME AGAIN TO TELL YOU, JIM, HOW HAPPY I HAVE BEEN, SINCE WE FOUND THIS FRIENDSHIP, AND I TOOK AWAY YOUR SIN.

ALWAYS LOVE TO HEAR YOU PRAY, I THINK ABOUT YOU EACH DAY,

AND SO JIM, THIS IS JESUS CHECKING IN TODAY."

Disciplining children of grade school age has its unique challenges and rewards. While children this age are better able to articulate their feelings and demonstrate self-control, disciplining big kids can still require some handling of tantrums and tears.

When a big kid has the occasional meltdown, try to be mindful of the importance of teaching respect when disciplining children. Even if your child is pushing your buttons, try to remember to talk to her the way that you would want to be talked to.

It's also helpful to keep in mind that disciplining school-age children can be a way to lay down foundations for good behavior in the years to come. Some parents may think of child discipline as something you do when a kid misbehaves. But many experts say that disciplining children should be more about working with your child to guide him toward good behavior so that he can make good choices on his own. Here are some ways you can guide your grade-school age child as he grows into someone who can increasingly discipline himself.

When Disciplining Children:

Expect Some Steps Forward -- and Some Back
As children get older and enter kindergarten and grade school, they begin to develop better self control to deal with frustrations and disappointments. They also become increasingly more able to talk about their feelings, and are better able to understand and follow rules. That said, they are still young, and can sometimes easily fall back into meltdowns, whining, and other negative behavior more common in toddler and preschooler years.

Get Your Child Involved in Setting Limits and Rules
Now that your child is in kindergarten or grade school, he will be better able to understand why some rules are necessary (for his health, safety, etc.). Explain your position, listen to his opinion, and then compromise where you can. If his friend goes to bed at 9, but you’d rather that your child’s bedtime was 8, tell him you’ll try out 8:30 provided he doesn’t seem too tired during the day.

Be Firm About R-E-S-P-E-C-T
Let him know it's safe to express his feelings -- as long as he does so respectfully. If he acts cranky with you (hey, we all have bad days, grown-ups included), tell him to speak to you in a nice way. Then, when he’s more peaceful, talk to him about what was making him unhappy. Respect also goes both ways, so speak to your child the way you want him to speak to you. Don't shout, say what you need to in a calm manner, and remember to say “please” and “thank you.”

Give "Do's" Instead of "Don'ts"
Focus on the behavior you want to see, not what he’s doing wrong. Instead of saying, "Don't throw that ball around the house" say “Doing that could break something. Let’s go outside and play.”

Find Out What's Behind the Behavior
Maybe he was rude to a playmate because he’d had too many activities that day. Step back, and consider what may have caused him to misbehave. Later, after he’s calmer, ask him what he was thinking and feeling.

Keep Child Disicpline Short and Simple
Though your grade-schooler is better able to understand rules, avoid going into too much detail. Getting into a long explanation about something you want him to do can be confusing. It can also give your child the message that you’re not certain about what you’re saying.

Be Consistent and Firm
Bedtime is bedtime. Just one more (fill in blank) is not negotiable. If you waver, he’ll know he can push the boundaries again the next time.

LAOS — Family Kicked Out for Trusting God

A Christian man was kicked out of his family home for taking his daughter to a medical doctor rather than seeking treatment from a witch doctor. The 26-year-old man, “Noy,” lived with his wife and two children in his in-laws’ home. After he converted to Christianity, he began attending church on Sunday rather than working in the field. His faith was a source of contention in the family, but Noy stood firm. When his daughter became ill, the family told Noy to take her to a witch doctor. Instead, Noy said, “I will take my daughter to the hospital. God will rescue her life.” His in-laws cursed him, and while he was at the hospital, they burned his Bible and other Christian books.
When Noy returned after his daughter’s recovery, his in-laws told him he couldn’t live there unless he renounced his faith. Noy refused, saying, “How can I forsake the living God?” They then forced him to leave the house. VOM workers helped Noy and his family purchase a simple bamboo house, but they were left with no clothing and nothing for cooking or farming. Thank the Lord that this family stood firm and is continuing to attend church joyfully. Pray that God will help us meet their physical needs.
NDIA — Pastor’s Father Beaten

Hindu extremists in Pratapgarh, Rajasthan state, have threatened to kill Pastor Shantilal Ninama after beating his family and violating an agreement to stop attacking them last month. The extremists had agreed to do no further harm to Pastor Ninama and his family if he would drop police charges he had filed over a previous attack. Although Pastor Ninama dropped the charges, the Hindu extremists stormed into his home on the evening of June 8 and began beating his father, sister, wife and three children. As the pastor sought police help, his 65-year-old father fell unconscious, and his wife, sister and two of his children ran outside. Another daughter hid beneath a bed.
The Rev. Prabhatkar Malladi, secretary of the Udaipur Diocese in Rajasthan, said extremists were threatening to kill the pastor. “The villagers are not allowing any Christian leaders to enter into the village to meet Pastor Ninama, but we are taking necessary steps to help the pastor, and one advocate is now taking up the case,” he said. Pray that God will use Pastor Ninama’s witness to soften the hearts of the extremists and those in authority.
IRAQ — House Church Leader Kidnapped
In Dehouk, Iraq, tears streamed down a young girl’s face as she explained to VOM worker how a Muslim group broke into her home and took her father. The active house church planter Jamal works among the Shabak people, who have Jewish roots and speak Arabic and Kurdish. The VOM worker said Jamal was a very dedicated gospel worker. VOM sources believe a fundamentalist Muslim group, possibly Al Qaeda, kidnapped Jamal because he has led many Muslims to Christ. The home of one of Jamal’s recent converts was sprayed with machine gun fire several weeks ago. Our workers have little hope that Jamal will be freed, and many fear he will be killed. Please pray for Jamal’s protection and that his family can remain strong in this time of severe persecution.
NORTH Korea — The Gospel Finds a Way in the Closed Nation
A discipleship training project in another country prepares North Koreans to share the gospel when they return to home. “Mr. Kim” was an orphan who had no money, no home and no hope. He came to a river and crossed it after walking for several days. Hungry and exhausted, he walked into the first house he saw. The family there had compassion on him, because they had witness the brutal and inhumane way the police treated North Korean refugees. Soon Mr. Kim met Christ and joined the Christian training program. Mr. Kim and two other men in the training say they are thankful for the Christians around the world who pray and help them, although they have never met. Please continue to pray for the brave Christians who dare to take the gospel into this dark nation.

The greatest commandment in Scripture is this: “Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength” (Deuteronomy 6:5). Going back to verse 2, we read, “So that you, your children and their children after them may fear the LORD your God as long as you live by keeping all his decrees and commands that I give you, and so that you may enjoy long life.” Following Deuteronomy 6:5, we read, “These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up” (vv. 6-7).

Israelite history reveals that the father was to be diligent in instructing his children in the ways and words of the Lord for their own spiritual development and well-being. The father who was obedient to the commands of Scripture did just that. This brings us to Proverbs 22:6, “Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” To “train” indicates the first instruction that a father and mother give to a child, i.e., his early education. The training is designed to make clear to children the manner of life they are intended for. To commence a child's early education in this way is of great importance.

Ephesians 6:4 is a summary of instructions to the father, stated in both a negative and positive way. “Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.” The negative part of this verse indicates that a father is not to foster negativity in his children by severity, injustice, partiality, or unreasonable exercise of authority. Harsh, unreasonable conduct towards a child will only serve to nurture evil in the heart. The word “provoke” means “to irritate, exasperate, rub the wrong way, or incite.” This is done by a wrong spirit and wrong methods—severity, unreasonableness, sternness, harshness, cruel demands, needless restrictions, and selfish insistence upon dictatorial authority. Such provocation will produce adverse reactions, deadening children’s affection, reducing their desire for holiness, and making them feel that they cannot possibly please their parents. A wise parent seeks to make obedience desirable and attainable by love and gentleness.

The positive part of Ephesians 6:4 is expressed in a comprehensive direction—educate them, bring them up, develop their conduct in all of life by the instruction and admonition of the Lord. This is the whole process of educating and discipline. The word “admonition” carries the idea of reminding the child of faults (constructively) and duties (responsibilities).

The Christian father is really an instrument in God's hand. The whole process of instruction and discipline must be that which God commands and which He administers, so that His authority should be brought into constant and immediate contact with the mind, heart, and conscience of children. The human father should never present himself as the ultimate authority to determine truth and duty. It is only by making God the teacher and ruler on whose authority everything is done that the goals of education can best be attained.

Martin Luther said, “Keep an apple beside the rod to give the child when he does well.” Discipline must be exercised with watchful care and constant training with much prayer. Chastening, discipline, and counsel by the Word of God, giving both reproof and encouragement, is at the core of “admonition.” The instruction proceeds from the Lord, is learned in the school of Christian experience, and is administered by the parents—primarily the father, but also, under his direction, the mother. Christian discipline is needed to enable children to grow up with reverence for God, respect for parental authority, knowledge of Christian standards, and habits of self-control.

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16-17). A father’s first responsibility is to acquaint his children with Scripture. The means and methods that fathers may use to teach God's truth will vary. As the father is faithful in role modeling, what children learn about God will put them in good standing throughout their earthly lives, no matter what they do or where they go.

"What is eternal death?"

Answer: In short, eternal death is the fate that awaits all people who ultimately reject God, reject the gospel of His Son, Jesus Christ, and remain in their sin and disobedience. Physical death is a one-time experience. Eternal death, on the other hand, is everlasting. It is a death that continues through eternity, a spiritual death that is experienced on a continual basis. Just as spiritual life, by grace through faith in Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9) is everlasting life, eternal death is never-ending.

The most important question to be answered is “Does the Bible teach the doctrine of eternal death?” If the Bible doesn’t teach eternal death, then we can pack up and go home because there is no further debate on the issue. God’s Word, the Bible, is the infallible rule of faith and practice, and as such we must believe and teach only what it clearly teaches, and the Bible clearly teaches the doctrine of eternal death. We can point to several passages that explicitly state this, but for our purposes, only three will be needed, one from the Old Testament and two from the New.

• And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. (Daniel 12:2 ESV)

• And [the wicked] will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life. (Matthew 25:46 ESV)

• And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. (Revelation 20:15 ESV). In verse 10, we are told that the Lake of Fire burns “forever and ever.”

All three of these passages (and more could have been added) have as their main context the scene of final judgment. In other words, when Christ returns, three things will occur: 1) The general resurrection of “the living and the dead;” 2) the final judgment; and 3) the inauguration of the eternal state. Each of these passages demonstrates that during the final judgment of all people, Jesus will separate the righteous from the wicked. The righteous will be ushered into the final state of glory, while the wicked will be sent to the lake of fire for eternal punishment and torment. Note too (particularly in the Daniel and Matthew passages) that the same adjective (“everlasting” or “eternal”) is used to modify both “life” and “punishment/contempt.” What is true about one (life) must be true about the other (punishment), that both are eternal and last forever.

The doctrine of eternal death is not a popular doctrine to teach or proclaim. To do so often opens one up to scorn and ridicule. However, we must not let that detract us from what the Bible so clearly teaches; namely, that due to our being born in sin and trespasses, we are under the just condemnation of God for our sin. If we do not embrace the saving message of Jesus Christ, we will perish in our sin and trespasses and be under God’s just judgment for our sin—eternal death. This is a sobering doctrine and requires the utmost care and compassion in its presentation.
Signs of a False prophet

How would you recognize a false prophet coming at you in sheep's clothing, disguised as a "minister of light" and truth? Here are seven identifying signs to look for, to make sure you are not led astray! William F. Dankenbring Jesus Christ foretold that false prophets and teachers would come in the last days, abounding and multiplying like rabbits, so to speak. They seem to be sprouting up like mushrooms everywhere, as if it were, “overnight.” What can we do about them, so that we are not deceived by their wiles or deluded by their charms? God's Word repeatedly warns, “Beware of false prophets” (Matt.7:15). “Many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many” (Matt.24:11). “For there shall arise false Christs and false prophets” (v.24). Peter warned, “There shall be false teachers among you who privily shall bring in damnable heresies” (II Pet.2:1). The apostle John warned, “Many false prophets are gone out into the world” (I John 4:1). How can you identify a false prophet? What are the characteristics you should look for? 2 Here are the seven Biblical "signs" that will help you to identify a false teacher or prophet. Study, them, and keep you eyes open, because these servants of Satan the devil are everywhere! “Signs and Wonders” Some false prophets use phony miracles, signs and wonders to lead people astray. Jesus Christ warned that in the last days there would be a false “signs and wonders” movement afoot – phony miracles, statutes weeping, appearances of “Jesus” or “Mary” in church windows, or false healings. His exact words were, “For there shall arise false Christs and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. Behold, I have told you before” (Matt.24;24-25). These “signs” will be very persuasive – and yet totally false and misleading! God warns us, “If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder, and the sign or wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and serve them; thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD thy God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD thy God with all your heart and with all your soul” (Deut.13:1-3). Failed Prophecies Another sign of a false prophet is the failure of his “inspired” predictions and prophecies. God thunders, “When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD [claims to have a divine prophecy from God Himself], if the thing follow not nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath NOT spoken, but the prophet hath spoken presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him” (Deut.18:22). This is not speaking of “speculation,” or trying to understand various prophetic Scriptures. We can all make mistakes of this kind. Herbert Armstrong, to his shame, was famous for this kind of false interpretation and erroneous understanding. He made many mistakes in understanding Bible prophecy, especially when it came to dates. He thought at one time that Mussolini was the Beast of Revelation, and that Christ would return in the 1940's. Later he believed Christ would return in the year 1975, and even wrote a booklet entitled 1975 in Prophecy! He made many mistakes – at one time he wrote that men would never set foot on the moon and return to earth alive. When the British fleet sailed for the Falkland Islands, after Argentina had invaded and seized them, he predicted that the British fleet would meet with disaster. He was wrong again! But even these flagrant errors in understanding, although they proved he was not a true “prophet” of God (which he said he never claimed to be, by the way), did not disprove or invalidate the many GOOD and RIGHT things which he taught, including the Sabbath day, annual Holy Days (as much as he understood them), obedience being required for salvation, and the identity of the lost ten tribes of Israel. These were errors in interpretation, understanding, and wrongly-based speculation, based on false assumptions and led to false conclusions. We are all human, and fallible. He never claimed “infallibility” as the Pope does! 3 However, if a prophet or preacher claims divine inspiration for a prophecy, and then it fails to come to pass, then he is proved to be a FALSE PROPHET! "Is It Scriptural?" The apostle Paul commands us to “Prove ALL things” (I Thess.5:21). He declared that “ALL scripture is given by inspiration of God” (II Tim.3:16). Jesus Christ tells us, “The Scripture cannot be broken” (John 10:35). Therefore, the teachings of God’s true servants must conform to Scripture. They must be provable by the Word of God. Any “prophet” or “teacher” who teaches doctrines which do not conform to Scripture – false doctrines – is a FALSE PROPHET! “Thy Word is TRUTH,” Jesus declared (John 17:17). He declared further, “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32). Anyone who teaches doctrine contrary to the Word of God is a FALSE PROPHET! This would even include ministers who teach flagrant error regarding the annual holy days of God! This would include those who are mixed up and teach ERROR regarding the Passover and Pentecost, as well as those who compromise with pagan teachings and observe Christmas and Easter and other pagan holidays, claiming they are “Christian”! This would also include ANY who a false,, unbiblical, polluted, altered CALENDAR than the true Calendar of God’s Word! Write for our articles on “God’s True Calendar,” “What’s All This about Postponements?”, and “When Does the Year Begin?” Judge by the Fruits!Jesus Christ declared: “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them BY THEIR FRUITS. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall KNOW them” (Matt.7:15-20). The fourth identifying sign, then, is – look at their fruits! That which produces evil ISevil! Look at the fruits of their teachings, and the fruits of their lives. Do they sow division, strife, carnality? Do they evidence the “fruits of the flesh”? Are they full of envy, deceit, jealousy, vanity, ego? These are not the “fruits” of a true servant of God! Do they preach “humility” but act with “pride”? Do they preach “obedience” but do not themselves obey God’s Word? Do they preach God’s Law but state that “they are ABOVE the law”? Do they state things like, “I will never bow the knee or submit to any man,” showing their utter disregard for other men or ministers, even if called of God? Those are the fruits of rebellion – hostility – the carnal mind (see Rom.8:7). Look at their fruits – and be discerning! What are the “evil” fruits that will become evident with a false prophet? Paul tells us, “Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these: Adultery, fornication [immorality], uncleanness [filth], lasciviousness [lust, license to do evil – a “permissive” attitude], idolatry 4 [worship of self, or various and sundry “idols”], witchcraft [magic, potions, drugs, the occult, dealing with wicked spirits and demons], hatred, variance [always seeking to divide, to oppose, to create different opinions or variant teachings], emulations [stealing from others, imitating others, pretenders, mimicking, plagiarizing others], wrath, strife [fighting over words, fighting over virtually everything!], seditions [being traitors, unfaithful, seditious, undermining the truth], heresies, envyings [they envy the righteous], murders, drunkenness, revelings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God” (Gal.5:19-21). The apostle James also discusses “fruit.” He declares, “Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter? Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh. Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation [conduct] his works with meekness of wisdom. But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. For where envying and strife is, there is CONFUSION and every evil work. “But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, and then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace” (James 3:11-18). Jesus said, “He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad. . . Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit. O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things; and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment” (Matt.12:30-36). When the World Speaks Well of You . . . Have you ever noticed how the world speaks so well of its own – how society looks up to such men as Billy Graham, the Pope of Rome, and other leading religious figures? Many even praise and adulate the television evangelists, and other charismatic individuals. But the true servants of God have always been “bad-mouthed” by the world, disrespected, looked upon with reproach, disdain, and even hatred. King Ahab called Elijah his “enemy,” and “he that troubles Israel” (I Kings 18:17). The world laughed at Noah. Pharaoh ignored Moses as long as he could, rejected his demands, and accused him of being a false prophet. Even the people of Israel rebelled against Moses (Num.16) and rejected God's servant (Num.14). Christ Himself was called an impostor, a servant of the devil, and possessed of Beelzebub by His enemies, and called a “false prophet.” So it was prophesied and so it was foretold that it would be. Jesus declared, “Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets” (Luke 6:26). This is the fifth sign of a false prophet: They will be 5 widely admired and commonly spoken well of by people. They will be “honored” for their appearances, and their “personality,” their charm and charisma, and lauded for their supposed “good works.” But it is all a sham – a disgrace – because they do not teach or proclaim the pure truth of God’s Word! They compromise; they seek the favour of men; they seek to be admired. A number of such men try to emulate or imitate Herbert Armstrong, cover up and deny his faults and mistakes, and claim he was the Elijah to come and could teach no wrong. They compete among themselves each one claiming to wear his “mantle” or “cloak,” to be his “legitimate” successor, walking in his footsteps. And if the truth be known, none of them truly follows in his footsteps! Why do I say this? Because although it was exceedingly difficult for him, at least a number of times Herbert Armstrong repented, and changed his teachings and doctrines, when he was proved wrong! NONE of those who claim to follow him is willing to follow him in admitting it when wrong, in being open-minded enough to CHECK UP, and LOOK at evidence which might prove them wrong!! NONE of them is willing to CONFESS ERROR when they are TEACHING error!! Herbert Armstrong, despite all his mistakes, at least was willing to take correction like a man, and admit it when he was proven wrong! Solomon wrote, “Open rebuke is better than secret love. Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful" (Prov.27:5-6). Solomon also wrote: "Whoso loveth instruction, loveth also knowledge: but he that HATETH REPROOF IS BRUTISH” – a mere brute – an animal! (Prov.12:1). He added: “A wise man heareth his father's instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke” (Prov.13:1). “A scorner seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not: but knowledge is easy unto him that understandeth. Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge” (Prov.14:6-7). “He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy” (Prov.29:1). And so it is. And so it shall be. “Christ IN Us, the Hope of Glory” False prophets deny that Jesus Christ came into this world as a complete human being – that He divested Himself of His divinity, and became a man like you or I (Heb.2:16-18; 4:15; 5:7-8). He literally “emptied Himself” of His divine rank and power, and became flesh and blood (Phil.2:5-8; John 1:1-3, 14). Most false prophets teach that He was some sort of “superman,” or “God-man,” and that being God it was impossible for Him to sin! However, the Word of God says that He was “tempted in all points like as we are, yet without sin” (Heb.4:15). He could have sinned! He had to resist temptation! 6 False prophets also deny that Christ comes into us through the Holy Spirit, living His life IN us (Gal.2:20). They deny that since He is the “same, yesterday, today, and forever” (Heb.13:8), that He will still observe and obey GOD'S LAW, INCLUDING THE TEN COMMANDMENTS – including observe the weekly Sabbath day and the annual Holy Days of God – today, in us, just as He did almost 2,000 years ago, in the flesh! (Luke 2:41-42; John 2:13, 23; Luke 22:8; John 7:8, 14, 37). Nevertheless, the apostle Paul wrote, “But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof” (Rom.13:14). He wrote, “My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed IN you” (Gal.4:19). Paul asserted that God would “make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Col.1:27). Christ literally lives in His true servants, today! Paul wrote: “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless, I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth IN me: and the life I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me” (Gal.2:20). But what does it really mean, that Christ lives IN us? How does this tell the difference between a true servant of God, and the multitudinous false prophets and false teachers? The apostle John declared: “Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come [Greek, “is coming”] in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come [Greek, “is coming”] in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is in the world” (I John 4:2). The spirit of “antichrist” denies that Jesus Christ LIVES His life in His true followers! It denies that Jesus Christ, since He is the same forever, will still be obeying God's laws and keeping His commandments WITHIN EVERY TRUE CHRISTIAN, today, even as He did 2,000 years ago! In other words, God’s Holy Spirit will lead true servants of God to obey God’s law and His commandments, even as Christ obeyed them 2,000 years ago! The Spirit of God confesses and acknowledges this fact! The spirit of false prophets denies this fact! The Seventh Identifying Sign Isaiah the prophet was inspired to write, “And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits [false prophets have demons that inspired their messages], and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead? “To the LAW and to the TESTIMONY: if they speak not according to THIS WORD, there is no light in them” (Isa.8:20). 7 False prophets and Satan-inspired teachers always seek to lead people away from the laws and commandments of God! They teach that the laws of God are abolished, done away, and need not be obeyed any more. They have dreams, or make prophecies, and then seek to lead people away from obeying God. This is perhaps the most fundamental “SIGN” of a false prophet and false teacher of them all! They entice people into sin, which is “lawlessness”, breaking one or more of the laws of God – departing from the LAWS of Almighty God! As the apostle John wrote: “Whosoever commiteth sin transgresseth also the law: for SIN IS THE TRANSGRESSION of the LAW” (I John 3:4). The Bible definition of the word “sin” is very simple: Sin is “the transgression of the law.” What law? Why, the Law of God, of course! “Sin,” therefore, is simply “disobedience” of God’s Law! False prophets, like Satan the devil, their master and guide, HATE God's Law. They abhor and detest it. They feel “constrained” by it, “limited” by it, as if they were bound up in chains. They feel “restricted” by it, as if they were tied up in a strait-jacket! It “impedes” their life-style, their lusts, interferes with their ambitions and desires. So all together, they claim it is abolished, in one way or another! Some teach parts of it, but disobey whatever they disagree with. They may even give “lip service” to it publicly but disobey it privately, behind closed doors. But, as God told Moses, He allows us to be “tested” by these false prophets and their seductive messages because “the LORD thy God proveth you, to KNOW whether ye love the LORD thy God with all your heart and with all your soul” (Deut.13:3). Do you love God, and His Law, with your whole being? God says, “Ye shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and OBEY his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him” (Deut.13:4). Do you? If you take these seven signs of false prophets seriously, then you will be able to stand up against, and overcome false prophets who seek to lead you astray! You will be able to stand before the Son of man, Jesus Christ, when He returns! (Luke 21:36).

1. Jesus himself testified to his coming resurrection from the dead.

Jesus spoke openly about what would happen to him: crucifixion and then resurrection from the dead. “The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes and be killed, and after three days rise again” (Mark 8:31; see also Matthew 17:22; Luke 9:22). Those who consider the resurrection of Christ unbelievable will probably say that Jesus was deluded or (more likely) that the early church put these statements in his mouth to make him teach the falsehood that they themselves conceived. But those who read the Gospels and come to the considered conviction that the one who speaks so compellingly through these witnesses is not the figment of foolish imagination will be unsatisfied with this effort to explain away Jesus’ own testimony to his resurrection from the dead.

This is especially true in view of the fact that the words which predict the resurrection are not only the simple straightforward words quoted above, but also the very oblique and indirect words which are far less likely to be the simple invention of deluded disciples. For example, two separate witnesses testify in two very different ways to Jesus’ statement during his lifetime that if his enemies destroyed the temple (of his body), he would build it again in three days (John 2:19; Mark 14:58; cf. Matthew 26:61). He also spoke illusively of the “sign of Jonah”—three days in the heart of the earth (Matthew 12:39; 16:4). And he hinted at it again in Matthew 21:42—“The very stone which the builders rejected has become the head of the corner.” On top of his own witness to the coming resurrection, his accusers said that this was part of Jesus’ claim: “Sir, we remember how that impostor said, while he was still alive, ‘After three days I will rise’” (Matthew 27:63).

Our first evidence of the resurrection, therefore, is that Jesus himself spoke of it. The breadth and nature of the sayings make it unlikely that a deluded church made these up. And the character of Jesus himself, revealed in these witnesses, has not been judged by most people to be a lunatic or a deceiver.

2. The tomb was empty on Easter.

The earliest documents claim this: “When they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus” (Luke 24:3). And the enemies of Jesus confirmed it by claiming that the disciples had stolen the body (Matthew 28:13). The dead body of Jesus could not be found. There are four possible ways to account for this.

2.1 His foes stole the body. If they did (and they never claimed to have done so), they surely would have produced the body to stop the successful spread of the Christian faith in the very city where the crucifixion occurred. But they could not produce it.

2.2 His friends stole the body. This was an early rumor (Matthew 28:11-15). Is it probable? Could they have overcome the guards at the tomb? More important, would they have begun to preach with such authority that Jesus was raised, knowing that he was not? Would they have risked their lives and accepted beatings for something they knew was a fraud?

2.3 Jesus was not dead, but only unconscious when they laid him in the tomb. He awoke, removed the stone, overcame the soldiers, and vanished from history after a few meetings with his disciples in which he convinced them he was risen from the dead. Even the foes of Jesus did not try this line. He was obviously dead. The Romans saw to that. The stone could not be moved by one man from within who had just been stabbed in the side by a spear and spent six hours nailed to a cross.

2.4 God raised Jesus from the dead. This is what he said would happen. It is what the disciples said did happen. But as long as there is a remote possibility of explaining the resurrection naturalistically, modern people say we should not jump to a supernatural explanation. Is this reasonable? I don’t think so. Of course, we don’t want to be gullible. But neither do we want to reject the truth just because it’s strange. We need to be aware that our commitments at this point are much affected by our preferences—either for the state of affairs that would arise from the truth of the resurrection, or for the state of affairs that would arise from the falsehood of the resurrection. If the message of Jesus has opened you to the reality of God and the need of forgiveness, for example, then anti-supernatural dogma might lose its power over your mind. Could it be that this openness is not prejudice for the resurrection, but freedom from prejudice against it?

3. The disciples were almost immediately transformed from men who were hopeless and fearful after the crucifixion (Luke 24:21, John 20:19) into men who were confident and bold witnesses of the resurrection (Acts 2:24, 3:15, 4:2).

Their explanation of this change was that they had seen the risen Christ and had been authorized to be his witnesses (Acts 2:32). The most popular competing explanation is that their confidence was owing to hallucinations. There are numerous problems with such a notion. The disciples were not gullible, but level-headed skeptics both before and after the resurrection. (Mark 9:32, Luke 24:11, John 20:8-9, 25). Moreover, is the deep and noble teaching of those who witnessed the risen Christ the stuff of which hallucinations are made? What about Paul’s great letter to the Romans? I personally find it hard to think of this giant intellect and deeply transparent soul as deluded or deceptive, and he claimed to have seen the risen Christ.

4. Paul claimed that, not only had he seen the risen Christ, but that 500 others had seen him also, and many were still alive when he made this public claim.

“Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep” (1 Corinthians 15:6). What makes this so relevant is that this was written to Greeks who were skeptical of such claims when many of these witnesses were still alive. So it was a risky claim if it could be disproved by a little firsthand research.

5. The sheer existence of a thriving, empire-conquering early Christian church supports the truth of the resurrection claim.

The church spread on the power of the testimony that Jesus was raised from the dead and that God had thus made him both Lord and Christ (Acts 2:36). The Lordship of Christ over all nations is based on his victory over death. This is the message that spread all over the world. Its power to cross cultures and create one new people of God was a strong testimony of its truth.

6. The Apostle Paul’s conversion supports the truth of the resurrection.

He argues to a partially unsympathetic audience in Galatians 1:11-17 that his gospel comes from the risen Jesus Christ, not from men. His argument is that before his Damascus Road experience when he saw the risen Jesus, he was violently opposed to the Christian faith (Acts 9:1). But now, to everyone’s astonishment, he is risking his life for the gospel (Acts 9:24-25). His explanation: The risen Jesus appeared to him and authorized him to spearhead the Gentile mission (Acts 26:15-18). Can we credit such a testimony? This leads to the next argument.

7. The New Testament witnesses do not bear the stamp of dupes or deceivers.

How do you credit a witness? How do you decide whether to believe a person’s testimony? The decision to give credence to a person’s testimony is not the same as completing a mathematical equation. The certainty is of a different kind, yet can be just as firm (I trust my wife’s testimony that she is faithful). When a witness is dead, we can base our judgment of him only on the content of his writings and the testimonies of others about him. How do Peter and John and Matthew and Paul stack up?

In my judgment (and at this point we can live authentically only by our own judgment—Luke 12:57), these men’s writings do not read like the works of gullible, easily deceived or deceiving men. Their insights into human nature are profound. Their personal commitment is sober and carefully stated. Their teachings are coherent and do not look like the invention of unstable men. The moral and spiritual standard is high. And the lives of these men are totally devoted to the truth and to the honor of God.

8. There is a self-authenticating glory in the gospel of Christ’s death and resurrection as narrated by the biblical witnesses.

The New Testament teaches that God sent the Holy Spirit to glorify Jesus as the Son of God. Jesus said, “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth.... He will glorify me” (John 16:13). The Holy Spirit does not do this by telling us that Jesus rose from the dead. He does it by opening our eyes to see the self-authenticating glory of Christ in the narrative of his life and death and resurrection. He enables us to see Jesus as he really was, so that he is irresistibly true and beautiful. The apostle stated the problem of our blindness and the solution like this: “The god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.... For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ” (2 Corinthians 4:4, 6).

A saving knowledge of Christ crucified and risen is not the mere result of right reasoning about historical facts. It is the result of spiritual illumination to see those facts for what they really are: a revelation of the truth and glory of God in the face of Christ—who is the same yesterday today and forever.

Why does God allow natural disasters i.e. earth quakes , hurricane and tsunamis ?

Answer :-Why does God allow earthquakes, tornados, hurricanes, tsunamis, typhoons, cyclones, mudslides, and other natural disasters? Tragedies such as Hurricane Katrina in 2005, the 2008 cyclone in Myanmar, the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, and the 2011 earthquake/tsunami near Japan cause many people to question God’s goodness. It is distressing that natural disasters are often termed “acts of God” while no “credit” is given to God for years, decades, or even centuries of peaceful weather. God created the whole universe and the laws of nature (Genesis 1:1). Most natural disasters are a result of these laws at work. Hurricanes, typhoons, and tornados are the results of divergent weather patterns colliding. Earthquakes are the result of the earth’s plate structure shifting. A tsunami is caused by an underwater earthquake.

The Bible proclaims that Jesus Christ holds all of nature together (Colossians 1:16-17). Could God prevent natural disasters? Absolutely! Does God sometimes influence the weather? Yes, as we see in Deuteronomy 11:17 and James 5:17. Numbers 16:30-34 shows us that God sometimes causes natural disasters as a judgment against sin. The book of Revelation describes many events which could definitely be described as natural disasters (Revelation chapters 6, 8, and 16). Is every natural disaster a punishment from God? Absolutely not.

In much the same way that God allows evil people to commit evil acts, God allows the earth to reflect the consequences sin has had on creation. Romans 8:19-21 tells us, “The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God.” The fall of humanity into sin had effects on everything, including the world we inhabit. Everything in creation is subject to “frustration” and “decay.” Sin is the ultimate cause of natural disasters just as it is the cause of death, disease, and suffering.

We can understand why natural disasters occur. What we do not understand is why God allows them to occur. Why did God allow the tsunami to kill over 225,000 people in Asia? Why did God allow Hurricane Katrina to destroy the homes of thousands of people? For one thing, such events shake our confidence in this life and force us to think about eternity. Churches are usually filled after disasters as people realize how tenuous their lives really are and how life can be taken away in an instant. What we do know is this: God is good! Many amazing miracles occurred during the course of natural disasters that prevented even greater loss of life. Natural disasters cause millions of people to reevaluate their priorities in life. Hundreds of millions of dollars in aid is sent to help the people who are suffering. Christian ministries have the opportunity to help, minister, counsel, pray, and lead people to saving faith in Christ! God can, and does, bring great good out of terrible tragedies (Romans 8:28).
