God bless you, Laban. Thanks for your contribution. True salvation really brings to nothing man's sense of self-help and independence, not only at conversion but all along the Christian walk. The parable Jesus gave about the vine and the branches cannot be more plain about the impossibility of doing anything in the Kingdom without constantly drawing from the life of Christ. And so, we need to recognize, receive, and realize the grace of God in our Christian walk from start to finish.

Thanks,PoemiaDei. In fact let's feed on Jesus before we serve him.
Thanks very much.
Stay blessed ma brother.

Thanks, Ron. In fact, we are called by the Lord to be fruitful in good works rather than doing good works. And to be fruitful we must be abiding in Christ.

John 15:16: "You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you."

Amen, Bob and Therese! It is just that we seem to be too quick on judging and bringing things to a closure on people and on God's plan for the world's salvation. Oh praise the Lord! If we would understand and sincerely believe that we like all others were doomed in the helpless condition of spiritual death when grace quickened us, then we will not be too quick to give up on others. And the attitude we should have towards the world should be compassion and intercession for the salvation of mankind. That's what Christ lives to do at this time - to make intercession - and if He lives in us that's what we should yield to His Spirit to do in us.

I really believe that the Word of God is true when it says that God loved the world and sent Jesus to die for the sins of the whole world. This salvation is for all and that is what grace is. God has provided a way to be saved that is available to everyone although everyone won't receive the gift. In other words salvation is provided for all mankind, but all will not receive the gift and will perish in their sin. The idea that God would created some for destruction and some to be saved just does not seem like grace. The scripture says whoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.2Peter 3:9 Romans 10:13

That's it, Wally. In fact, when God revealed through Jeremiah He would establish a new covenant of grace He pointed out plainly the failure of His people to keep their part in the old covenant of the law. Thus the new covenant of grace was meant to deal effectively with the limitation of the old covenant of law (Jeremiah 31:31-34).

I think we are on a long journey here in Grace To Help as we set out to explore all these features of Grace. I like to take it step by step.

Thanks for your contribution. Let's pray for one another for the enlightenment of the Spirit. What I realize is this is a subject that requires more than human reasoning. It requires revelation by the Spirit. Spiritual revelation brings not merely intellectual knowledge but a deep conviction of faith, which in turn produces life and reality to experience the truth. You will agree we need to have the grace of God to serve Him with reverence and godly fear and not just to know about the grace of God. Thanks again, especially for your prayers.

I could not agree any more, the old testement and the new show clearly the sinful heart of a man, I mean what can somebody today do worth than king david or Saul that became Paul. I believe that even if judas asked Jesus to forgive him, God will forgive, there is no sin that is far away from the grace and love of our Lord, the only sin is refusing to believe that God will forgive. The Lord bless you all.

PoemiaDei, You are so right, I would add to your comment that God provided the plan of salvation not only with a full awareness but also because of the helplessness of man. I have been reading through the Old Testament and if anything it reveals the failure of the Law as generation after generation of God's people would turn to him and then turn away. It was obvious that the Law was not sufficient to bring man to God so in His wisdom, love and grace he provided another way, through the blood of his own Son.

Interesting comments. We must always bear in mind that God designed the plan of salvation to rescue man from his fallen state with a full awareness of the helpless condition fo man. The Gospel was not meant to be a litany of instructions and methods of self-help towards righteousness but a message to generate hope and faith in fallen helpless man in the will and power of God by grace to deliver the sinner. It is this Gospel which is the power of God unto salvation. The Spirit works with it and implements the effectiveness of the salvation by grace plan. But we need the faith to let go of our props and rise up and walk in absolute dependence on God.

Over the past few months I have learned much about God's Grace. For years I could not believe that God could forgive me as I was not worthy of forgiveness. My counselor friend in love said to me, "how egotistical to think that you are somehow above God's grace". I cried and realized that I had been pushing God away because of my own pride. No one is worthy, no one is good enough, that is why it is grace. We are all lost (dead) without this wonderful, free, unmerited grace so selfishly given through Christ's sacrifice on the cross.
