Luke 24:49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

Knowing He was about to depart, Jesus left His disciples with a final command: stay in Jerusalem, and wait…for the promise. Of the thousands who had witnessed His miraculous ministry and heard His amazing teaching, and the hundreds that had actually seen Him after the resurrection, we read in Acts that only 120 stayed and tarried until the promise arrived. But these 120 were steadfast. They waited the full term…

What would have happened if they had left after the 4th day? Or the 6th day? Or the 9th day? They would have missed the promise and the amazing blessing that came with it. But those 120 believers stayed – they stayed and pressed in until the Holy Spirit came!

Do you want the fullness of the Spirit in your life? Continue pressing in. Wait with relentless faith and patience. Perseverance is often the critical factor in receiving the promises of God. Our Lord will fulfill every good promise in His perfect time.

We can cry, we can get angry, we can give up, we can be anxious, we can be forlorn, we can be sad, we can question and blame,we can hope, we can pray, we can endure, and we can be patient and wait... we are free, with free will... we can choose. BUT we can never escape HIS LOVE. ..Ironic? ....Maybe...but where will you go? His Love is boundless, you may ignore but IT still hovers. We choose, we decide, we act... BUT...The fact remains... God is the author of our lives.

Ephesians 1:11 (GNT)

 11 All things are done according to God's plan and decision; and God chose us to be his own people in union with Christ because of his own purpose, based on what he had decided from the very beginning.

Isaiah 46:10 (GNT)

 10 From the beginning I predicted the outcome;
      long ago I foretold what would happen.
   I said that my plans would never fail,
      that I would do everything I intended to do.

Hebrews 6:17-18  (GNT)

17 To those who were to receive what he promised, God wanted to make it very clear that he would never change his purpose; so he added his vow to the promise.18 There are these two things, then, that cannot change and about which God cannot lie. So we who have found safety with him are greatly encouraged to hold firmly to the hope placed before us.

James 5:10-11 (GNT)

10 My friends, remember the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. Take them as examples of patient endurance under suffering.11 We call them happy because they endured. You have heard of Job's patience, and you know how the Lord provided for him in the end. For the Lord is full of mercy and compassion.

Psalm 139: 7- 10 (GNT)

 7 Where could I go to escape from you?
      Where could I get away from your presence?
 8 If I went up to heaven, you would be there;
      if I lay down in the world of the dead, you would be there.
 9 If I flew away beyond the east
      or lived in the farthest place in the west,
 10 you would be there to lead me,

I ask you again, does God give you the Holy Spirit and work miracles among you because you obey the law? Of course not! It is because you believe the message you heard about Christ.
Galatians 3:5

The Holy Spirit gives Christians great power to live for God. Some Christians want more than this. They want to live in a state of perpetual excitement. The tedium of everyday living leads them to conclude that something is wrong spiritually. Often the Holy Spirit's greatest work is teaching us to persist, to keep on doing what is right even when it no longer seems interesting or exciting. The Galatians quickly turned from Paul's Good News to the teachings of the newest teachers in town; what they needed was the Holy Spirit's gift of persistence.

If the Christian life seems ordinary, you may need the Spirit to stir you up. Every day offers a challenge to live for Christ.

Galatians 1:3-5 May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ* give you grace and peace. Jesus gave his life for our sins, just as God our Father planned, in order to rescue us from this evil world in which we live. All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.

Many think that when God comforts us, our troubles should go away. But if that were always so, people would turn to God only out of a desire to be relieved of pain and not out of love for him. We must understand that being comforted can also mean receiving strength, encouragement, and hope to deal with our troubles. The more we suffer, the more comfort God gives us.
If you are feeling overwhelmed, allow God to comfort you. Remember that every trial you endure will help you comfort other people who are suffering similar troubles.

"Immediately they left the boat and their father, and followed Him." Matthew 4:22

Notice the sequence of His statement to the fishermen: “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men” (Matt. 4:19). We are tempted to think that we should make something of our lives and at the same time follow Jesus. Wrong! He calls us first to follow Him, and then He makes something of our lives. He leads us to prioritize so that we see the needs of people and their eternity as the goal of all our endeavors.

And while God may not require you to give up your career, following Him will guarantee that you will never see your career in the same way again. Where you “fish” is not important. But if you follow, you must fish.

What are you waiting for? Drop your nets, follow Him, and let Him make something of your life.

Every morning pray to God to give you the strength to start your day right. Some days are harder to get through, and troubles come our way. This is when it seems harder to stop, and wait a minute, catch your breath, and let God take over. He is your strength forever.

"Can I face things as they actually are in the light of the reality of Jesus Christ, or do things as they really are destroy my faith in Him, and put me into a panic?"
