Commentaries vary and don't seem to give a set answer.

I've read and reread this passage. To me it reads in vs. 16 that He is switching gears to include everyone sent out then and into the future. So when He says "before the Son of Man comes", He's certainly talking about everyone up until that event and it's no longer just about the apostles.

It seems plainly understood to me, so I can't figure out how anyone would take this to mean the rapture already occurred.

Some commentaries say He's not just referring to the apostles in 10:5, yet it plainly says "These twelve Jesus sent out...

Does anyone read anything different in this? Another take on this chapter?
