Your (written) words are welcomed and appreciated: Thanks!
You asked me, "you ask about God talking to you, do you mean audibly?"
Yes, audibly, visions or dreams. Although I'm not well- informes or trained on these, I have heard and believed God has His (other) ways and my posting was intended as a CHALLENGE to know both, this site and how ppl interact on this group.
Today, I was blessed at meeting a young Christian woman in the subway and she gave me several tips to hear God's voice at FASTING . I never dared to fast more than 2 days (so she challanged me, in turn, this time).

I'm glad for this site!

After I met that young lady, I was reminded of the communication theory and, as i have read, redundancy is a most, to be assured WE GOT THE MESSAGE.

That's why God 1) remains coherente always, 2) uses His ppl to lead those zHe wants to lead, 3) He confirms certain things using the Old Testament or the NEW T., and He gives directions to more than 2 ppls, when necessary.

Hi Hermitic,

When you ask about God talking to you, do you mean audibly? Because HE has spoken to us and is continually speaking to us. I have never heard Him audibly. There are many ways we can be assured that it is God speaking to us.

Hi Hermitic,

When you ask about God talking to you, do you mean audibly? Because HE has spoken to us and is continually speaking to us. I have never heard Him audibly. There are many ways we can be assured that it is God speaking to us.

1) Confirmation of His written word. God will never contradict Himself, or in other words, He won't go against what He teaches us in the bible.

2) Confirmation of godly counsel. Godly people in our lives will help confirm God's voice. When this confirmation aligns with His written word as noted above, we have can ever further confidence that HE is speaking to us.

3) Through our circumstances. We can be confident God is speaking to us when these three confirmations come into alignment. It would be careless to take just one confirmation without the other 2. All three should be taken together.

Always approach this with humility thru prayer.

Additionally;

4) God speaks to us thru HIS creation.

Romans 1:18-20 says:18 "The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse."

A quote by CS Lewis:

Personally, I have found that I hear best and most often from God when I am going through really difficult things in my life. I think it's because I'm more open at those times. However, He is always speaking to us. I've only touched on a few ways above. I hope to hear from others here on how they are hearing from God.

You said "While I'm trying these days to grasp His actual and up-to-day words"

His actual and 'up-to-day' words (as you say) are actually found in the bible. It seems to me that you may think His words are no longer relevant to modern day living. That's probably why you aren't hearing from Him. You may do well to be asking a different question, such as 'How are God's words and teachings relevant to our culture today?' If that's really what you are asking that's a different discussion. Please don't hesitate to ask.
