We will all stand before the Judgement Seat of the Messiah and all of our works will be judged. Luke 21:34-36. Works that are wood, hay or stubble will burned up and amount to nothing, works that are gold silver or precious stones will be refined by fire and be purified, for these we will receive rewards. Those with rewards in the millennial Kingdom will be given authority to rule and reign with Christ. Those whose works have been burned, if that’s all they have done, will be saved, but they will not receive authority in the Millennial Kingdom and therefore will have nothing to show for their spiritual lives which will last for 1000 years.

Our sins will not be judged, we have been redeemed because we have repented of our sin and believed the gospel.

This judgement will take place after the rapture of the church. The ‘works’ that will be judged are the works that we have done since becoming a believer. We will be judged on how we built on the foundation which has already been laid by Jesus. Have we been faithful in accordance with the Spirit? Have we followed God's Will? Are we obedient to HIM and His teachings? Are we abiding In Him?

This is not a judgement to receive Salvation, we are already saved.

This judgement will not be based on quantity (how many works we did), but QUALITY. We will be judged on whether or not we followed what God’s will was (is) for our lives.

Even though we will not be judged according to sin because we are believers, sin plays an indirect role because if we are disobedient or walking according to the flesh that is sin. The Millennial Kingdom will last for 1000 years, therefore consequences will last for 1000 years.

There are two types of crowns taught in scripture.

Diadem Crown- This is a King’s crown. It is for Sovereignty/ Royalty. Jesus wears this crown (Praise God).

Stephanos Crown- This is a crown given to an overcomer, a victor, to one who has won the race. This is available to us as believers for overcoming Spiritual Warfare.

There are 5 crowns which are referred to in scripture. The purpose of the crowns is to determine the degree of authority in the Messianic Kingdom. This is not for the Eternal order. In eternity all believers will be equal. In parabolic form this can be found in Luke 19:11-27.

The crowns or rewards we will receive, outlined in scripture are as follows:

The Incorruptible Crown-Found in 1 Cor 9:24-25. Given to those who exercise self control and gain mastery and victory in their spiritual life. They have gained victory over the old man sin nature and have learned how to live a Spirit controlled life.

The Crown of rejoicing- Found in 1 Thess 2:19. This crown is given to those who win souls for Jesus our Lord. Available to all who do the work of evangelism.

The Crown of Righteousness- Found in 2 Tim 4:7,8. This crown is for those who have kept the faith both doctrinally and morally in spite of adverse circumstances. It is also given to those who are longing for His return.

The Crown of Life- Found in James 1:12 and Rev 2:10. This Crown is given to those who suffer martyrdom for their faith, endure trials and are persecuted.

The Crown of Glory-Found in 1 Peter 5:2-4. This is a crown for faithfully feeding God’s flock. Pastors, teachers and others.

There may be more crowns than this, but these are the ones which are outlined in scripture.

Knowing that the quality of our works are more important that quantity, how does this new insight affect your relationship with the Lord?

Knowing that the purpose of the Judgement is ‘Did you follow God’s will for your life?’ how important is it now to be more of a doer of the word rather than only a hearer?

What are the works which are gold, silver and precious stones?

How do we avoid works of wood, hay and stubble?

And there was a comment that someone returned to the site afterwards and had written on a wall "Sodom and Gomorrah". I was intrigued with Pompeii in relation to Sodom and Gomorrah and started searching articles and found lots of interesting stuff.

Before that, a little interesting point...Jesus gave a list of signs of the end times. We all know these words.

Matthew 24:22 “If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened."

This means humanity will have the ability to exterminate itself. Something that has been a long time concern of nuclear war.

Now, the Scripture I've been looking at is found in Revelation 18. Summarized, Babylon has become a dwelling for demons and a haunt for every impure spirit, the nations have drunk the wine of her adulteries, the merchants grew rich from her excessive luxuries.

8 Therefore in one day her plagues will overtake her: death, mourning and famine. She will be consumed by fire...

17 In one hour such great wealth has been brought to ruin!’

After these things it says that there is a call to "Come out of her, my people". And then no one buys their cargoes anymore, the kings will see the smoke of her burning, they will stand far off and cry, no one buys their cargoes of gold, silver, precious stones and pearls; fine linen, purple, silk and scarlet cloth, etc. It says that her luxury and splendor have vanished, and the merchants who gained their wealth from her will stand far off, terrified at her torment and see the smoke of her burning.

21 Then a mighty angel picked up a boulder the size of a large millstone and threw it into the sea...

This was written by John, estimated just prior to Vesuvius erupting.

So in 70 A.D. Mount Vesuvius erupted and within 18 hours, the city of Pompeii (with between 10-20,000 people) was buried and preserved until excavation began in 17648. With excavation still ongoing nearly 2,000 years later, they know more about the society there.

Archeologists have unearthed an elaborate city of wealth with jewels, art works, frescoes, wall paintings and mosaics. They have found household items decorated with sexual themes; engraved carnelian gemstones showing subjects including a cupid riding a ram, satyrs with a goat and Mercury, the Roman god of commerce; and a set of ornately carved ivory panels, one depicting a naked Bacchus, the Roman god of love, wine and music. The place was full of erotic artwork such as sex with animals, orgies, etc. and multiple brothels. Erotic art in Pompeii has been both exhibited as art and censored as pornography.

Pompeii was located near the mouth of the Sarnus River and was a busy port town that exported products throughout the Mediterranean region.

A few years after the event, Pliny Younger wrote two letters describing what he witnessed when the eruption killed his uncle. He stated that his uncle prepared ships and went in to get people out. Ashes and bits of pumice were falling. Flames were blazing at various points. The buildings started shaking. The waves were too dangerous for him and his men to leave. Pliny wrote that he heard shrieks, people calling out for loved ones and even some who besought the aid of the gods.

Historical and scientific explanations tell that there would have been an earthquake and huge waves.

I know this is a lot, but go back to the top to paragraphs 5 to 9.

Was the Roman inhabited Pompeii John's prophecy of of Roman Babylon?

Revelation is all about future prophecy but is all it still to come or has some happened like this? Something to ponder.

Kudos for reading to the end. I spent hours researching and a couple more writing.

Something catches my attention and I run with it.
Revelation Charttag:www.allaboutgod.net,2017-01-25:1383940:Topic:17255642017-01-25T16:57:34.410ZSeekhttp://www.allaboutgod.net/profile/Seek

Months ago, Rabbi Nir Ben Artzi had a Bible inspired vision in which he saw precisely what the fate of the missiles would be.

In a lecture that he gave in September, Rabbi Nir Ben Artzi reassured his followers that the S-300 anti-aircraft weapons system Russia was sending to Iran would not be a threat to Israel, despite what military experts claimed.

He cited Psalms as the source of his prescient knowledge.

I usually read John Gill's commentaries when trying to get insight on certain passages. But I read the below and I can't say I agree with this. I know Jesus spoke in parables and that many things in Revelations can be symbolic but when it says hail and fire, blood, 1/3rd of trees burnt, etc., I'm not seeing this as in anyway being symbolic of these past events and of trees referring to righteousness, etc. I take the Bible for what it says. And these were end times prophecies. But it's apparent it's not referring to events that take place well before the end times and that are in the past.

So I went back to 6:15-16 to see how he refers to those hiding in caves and wanting the rocks to fall on them and again he refers to past events that have already happened. I've heard some believe Revelations already happened, and it seems he's saying that here. But I can't see how anyone could get this from Scripture. Wouldn't it mean that everything in Scripture is done and the rest of the human race afterwards is doomed without hope? If that were true, wouldn't we be without conscience and not drawn to repentance since it's all over with?

I read commentaries then by others: Matthew Henry, John Darby, etc. Of those, all of them have various differences. Darby references the earthquake as a violent convulsive of the whole governing structure and not as an actual earthquake, even though earthquakes do occur and seem to be spreading to locations where they've not occurred before.

Does anyone else read these as symbolic like this or as past events? If so, could you tell me what you base it on? Or does anyone know what arguments people use who do believe these things? I'm not seeing how they draw such conclusions.

Revelation 8:7 The first angel sounded
Or blew his trumpet:

and there followed hail and fire, mingled with blood;
somewhat like one of the plagues of Egypt, ( Exodus 9:23-25 ) ; in which was hail mingled with fire, only no blood, but what was caused by its fall on man and beast. Some have thought the Arian heresy is here intended, which may well enough agree with the time; and which may be compared to "hail", for the mischief it did to the vines, the churches; and because of the violence with which it came, and the chillness of affection to Christ and his people, which it brought on professors of religion; and the barrenness which followed upon it, it making men barren and unfruitful in the knowledge of Christ Jesus; and to "fire", because of the wrath, contentions, animosities, and divisions it occasioned among those who were called Christians: and "blood" may be brought into the account, since the like persecutions under Constantius and Valens were raised against the orthodox on account of it as were against the Christians under the Heathen emperors: and this storm fell upon "the earth"; the whole Roman empire; for even all the world was once said to be Arian, except one Athanasius; and particularly upon the carnal and earthly part of the church, who were seeking places and preferments under the Arian emperors: "and burnt up the third part of trees"; the trees of righteousness, the saints, particularly the doctors of the church, the tall cedars in Lebanon; who either seemed to be such, and were infected with this heresy, and destroyed by it, as many were; or were truly such, and were greatly oppressed, afflicted, and persecuted for not embracing it: and also "all green grass"; the common people, private Christians, weak believers, who had the truth of grace in them, and suffered much for not giving into this heresy; or who seemed to have it, but had it not, but withered away, being scorched up and destroyed with this pernicious notion: but rather this trumpet regards not the church, but the empire; and this storm of hail, fire, and blood, designs the irruption of the Goths into it, from the year 395, in which Theodosius died, to the year 408, under Radagaisus their general; with two hundred thousand of them, some say four hundred thousand, be entered and overrun all Italy, but was stopped and defeated by Stilicho; also Alaricus, king of the Goths, penetrated into Italy, came to Ravenna, and pitched his camp not far from Polentia, to whom the Emperor Honorius gave up France and Spain to make him easy, and that he might cease from his ravages and depredations F8; and these irruptions and devastations may be fitly expressed by hail, fire, and blood, just as the coming of the Assyrian monarch into the land of Israel is signified by a tempest of hail, and a destroying storm, ( Isaiah 28:2 ) ; and it is remarkable, as Mr. Daubuz observes, that Claudian the poet F9, who lived at the time of Alarick's war, compares it to hail:

and they were cast upon the earth;
the Roman empire, the continent more especially, as Germany, France, Spain, and Italy, which were particularly affected and distressed with these barbarous people:

and the third part of trees were burnt up;
by which seem to be meant people of the higher rank, the richer sort of people, who suffered much in these calamities; see ( Isaiah 2:13 ) ( Zechariah 11:2 ) ; yea, princes, nobles, and rulers, both civil and ecclesiastical, who suffered much at this time, as Jerom F11, who was then living, testifies; and so "trees" are interpreted of kings, rulers, and governors, by the Targum on ( Isaiah 2:13 ) ( Zechariah 11:1 Zechariah 11:2 ) ; "the trees of the field", in ( Isaiah 55:12 ) ; are interpreted of kingdoms F12: the Alexandrian copy, the Complutensian edition, the Vulgate Latin, and all the Oriental versions, read before this clause, "and the third part of the earth was burnt"; that is, of the Roman empire:

and all green grass was burnt up;
the common people, who may be compared to spires of "grass" for their multitude, being as it were innumerable; and to "green" grass, for their delightful, comfortable, and flourishing condition before these calamities came upon them; and for their weakness and impotency to withstand such powerful enemies; see ( Job 5:25 ) ( Psalms 72:16 ) ( Isaiah 40:6 Isaiah 40:7 ) ( 37:27 ) ( Numbers 22:4 ) ; and these commonly suffer most when a country is overrun and plundered by an enemy.
prophettag:www.allaboutgod.net,2016-01-04:1383940:Topic:16738482016-01-04T07:06:16.007Zshadrak osei bediakohttp://www.allaboutgod.net/profile/shadrakoseibediako
